I look down at my wedding ring and grin. Joe is still in bed. I yawn as I pour myself a cup of coffee. I take a sip, burning my tongue.
“Ow!” The coffee cup slips out of my fingers and shatters on my foot “Shit!”
I carefully sit on the floor as my foot bleeds freely. Joe quickly stumbles into the kitchen, half asleep. His eyes widen as he notices the pool of blood escaping my foot.
“Holy shit, what happened?”
I smile weakly “I tried to drink coffee and it ended in disaster.”
He chuckles and picks up the glass on the floor. He frowns at the pieces of glass in my foot.
“I can get it out, do you trust me?”
“No, Joe. I just married you but I don’t trust you at all.” I joke.
He chuckles “Ok… let’s go to the bathroom where the peroxide and everything is.”
He helps me get to the bathroom. There is a blood droplet trail following us to the bathroom. He grabs a pair of tweezers and hands me a washcloth.
“Bite hard on this.”
I nod and obey as he nears my foot with the tweezers. He pulls out the glass pieces and carefully places them in a bowl. After all the pieces are gone he grabs the peroxide and puts my foot over the sink. The wounds on my foot bubble out. I look away, feeling squeamish. Joe puts Neosporin on the cuts.
“Well I’m a hopeless klutz.” I smile at him “I guess its good I have you here to take care of me.”
He smiles and pulls me close to land a kiss upon my lips.
