Chapter Two
"Move your ass Devon! We're going to be late!"
Devon laughed as he heard the male shout from outside the house, hurrying to pull a shirt on and give his hair a last towel dry. He pulled on his shoes and thundered down the stairs, calling his good byes to his bemused looking father, who had watched him enter and exit the house in ten minutes.
Dev slid into the car, laughing as everyone shifted around, trying to make room for one more person in the already overflowing sedan. "You played a great game, Dev," Alexis said from her position on his lap once everyone got settled. "All that running and dodging and scoring and stuff. Good times, good times."
Dev smiled, shaking his head slightly as he realized Alexis had no idea what had happened in the game other than Fenwick winning. "You did good, too, Alexis. All that cheering and bouncing and interpretive dancing..."
Alexis smiled, oblivious to his sarcasm."Thanks, sweetie. It was good, wasn't it? I mean, at first I was certain if the squad would be able to..."
Dev tuned Alexis out, being sure to nod and smile and frown when she did. She shifted her position, casually moving to display very evident cleavage and rub her thigh against his. Dev opened his mouth to say something, only to be cut off as the door opened, almost tumbling him out.
"Move over, move over. The champ is here!"
Everyone laughed and scrunched further into the car to make room for Andrew, the team's quarterback, as he tried to work himself into the backseat. This car is so not meant to hold ten people, Dev thought wryly as he moved around.
"Ah, there we go," he said to Alexis with asmile aimed at her breasts. Dev rolled his eyes as the cheerleader giggled, moving her leg to slide it against Andrew's thigh. "You did great today," she murmured, seeming to sense a better opportunity in the other male. Dev shifted slightly, and she didn't need any further prompting to slide into Andrew's lap. The move displaced the cheerleader already perched there and prompted a series of grunts and curses as people maneuvered around again. Dev shook his head in bemusement to find himself balanced on Andy's leg, a junior cheerleader he didn't know that well straddling the other.
Andy laughed, bouncing his leg slightly to make the girl's chest jiggle. She giggled, giving him a coy look from beneath her lashes and obligingly bounced on her own. Dev shook his head. It seemed like everyone was pairing off tonight.
"So, Andrew, how's the girlfriend?" he asked over the sound of laughter and suggestive comments.
"What? Oh, Adrianne. Yeah, Adrianne's doing good," Andrew told Alexis's chest.
Dev opened his mouth to reply and yelped instead as the car traveled over a pothole, making him lose his balance. Everyone shouted out and toppled, a female body landing against Dev's back, lingering amoment before pulling away. Dev's own hands landed in worse places, the right on the junior cheerleader's chest, the left bracing him against Andy's inner thigh.
Dev quickly pulled his hands back and joined in the laughter that followed, smiling at the suggestive comments the junior made and Andrew's remark about wanting to feel Andy up, since that tackle yesterday wasn't enough.
Devon sighed in relief as the car came to a stop outside of Jessica's house, the doors opening and kids spilling out onto the grass, straightening clothes and adjusting cleavage before making their way towards the front door. Dev walked with them, Alexis and Amanda attaching themselves to him, whispering and giggling in his ear. Dev allowed the thrill of the party to rush through him, distracting himself with whatever he could as he walked inside, refusing to think about why his left hand continued to tingle.
"Hey Joscelin, you're looking a little dry there. Want something to wet your throat?"
Joscelin looked over at Jessica and smiled. "No, Jess. I'm good for now."
"Well if you're sure," Jess said, sloshing her cup of beer suggestively before moving off to flirt and mingle.
Joscelin shook his head. He had been sure the last three times she had asked as well. He wasn't sure why she thought he would be struck by sudden thirst now, especially when a Coke was apparent in his hand.
"Hey Jos!"
Jos turned towards the new voice, smiling as expected when he met Angela's slightly tipsy grin. Knowing how to play the part of a straight male Jos let his gaze drop to the strips of flesh revealed by Angie's outfit, admiring for a second before lifting his eyes back to hers.
She smiled happily and leaned against the wall next to him, carefully staying on the edge of his personal space. Not too drunk then, he thought in amusement as he watched her flirt with expert skill. Glancing away for a second he met Jerry's eyes across the room, smiling at the other males amused grin and silent toast before turning his attention back to Angie, quickly working to make up for looking away.
When she was satisfied that he had not been snubbing her they fell back into the easy rhythm of flirting, Jos observing her moves and actions with clinical amusement, marking when to react, when to let something slide, until a loud noise distracted both of them from the game.
"The heroes are here! Let the party begin!"
Andrew's shout sounded throughout the house, setting off a series of cheers and enthusiastic agreements. The crowd of teens shifted, their focus slowly turning and shifting to revolve around the group that had just entered. Jos watched, still, as the females began to gravitate towards the football players who had just entered en masse, the cheerleaders mingled among and hanging off of then.
Joscelin gave them a slightly annoyed look, though he had expected the behavior, and sunk back into the shadows slightly. He always hung at the fringes at parties unless specifically invited to dance, finding that females sought him out on their own enough to keep up his charade. It wouldn't do for people to notice that he was more inclined to talk to and be near men than women, and he had no doubts that someone would pick up on it eventually. It was sad, how the masses centered around that one group of people, how their mere presence in a room was enough to cause every lust-filled teen to want to be near them and touch and stroke them, just be noticed by them.
Joscelin eyed the teeming throng of people spilling through the rooms of the house, tuning out the pounding bass of the music Jessica had put on. Then, his breath caught and he cursed himself for being hypocrite and a fool as he fought down his immediate urge to gravitate. Devon stood in the middle of the dance floor, his hair spiked as if he had run his fingers through it, his shoulders and chest filling out the T-shirt that hugged his body with delicious tightness.
Joscelin let his gaze drift down that muscles chest, lingering over the hint of abs, down down below the belt, eyes fixating on the slight bulge Dev's cock and balls made in his pants. Jos felt his mouth water, his fingers flex with the urge to feel what Dev had between his legs.
"You probably don't want to do that, hon." Jerry's murmur broke through the desire slowly clouding Jos's thinking as he began to step towards Devon. He blinked hard, shaking his head, and looked up again, just in time to see Alexis stroke her hand down Dev's thigh and press her body against his in the pretext of dancing. Jos felt the desire abruptly die, his body going cold as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, leaning back against the wall. Reaching out he snagged the beer out of Jerry's hand and took a large gulp.
"I thought you weren't planning on drinking tonight," Jerry said quietly, recognizing that he shouldn't push Jos right now.
"I changed my mind," Joscelin muttered, placing the empty cup on a nearby table and looking around for another, trying to stamp out the possessive jealousy suddenly surging through him.
Jerry was silent a moment, then he spoke slowly, as if weighing his words carefully. "I know it hurts, to see him with other people, but he has no obligation to you. He can do as he wants."
Jos glared. "I know that. Now where the hell is the beer at?"
Dev looked up from dancing, grinding absentmindedly with the girl pressed against him, but not really feeling much heat. Come to think of it, he hadn't been feeling that turned on by anything, lately. Suddenly unable to take the overwhelming scent of perfume, Axe, and Tag, Devon carefully extricated himself from the hold of those around him, slipping through the throng of people as he searched for a quiet place to get rid of his headache.
Dev set his beer on a side table and moved to the upstairs rooms, ignoring the creak of springs and giggles come from behind closed and partially open doors. Finally finding the room he was looking for Dev slipped into the library, moving through the darkness to lounge in the window seat and close his eyes.
"I see I am not the only one getting away from that particular hell."
Dev opened his eyes in surprise, his night vision kicking in to show him what he had missed before. Joscelin was reclining on a couch, pale complexion and clothes seeming to glow as moonlight peeked through the clouds and lit upon him. A cup was in his hand, a few more scattered on the ground. Noticing what he was eyeing Joscelin gave a slightly bitter smile and raised his drink in a silent salute, taking a sip, his hooded eyes never leaving Dev.
"Getting wasted?"
"Hmm, more like drowning my pain," Jos murmured, setting his cup aside and rising to his feet, movements surprisingly steady for the number of drinks he had downed.
"Drowning your pain?" Dev said in surprise."What's so painful you feel the need to drown it?"
"Unrequited love."
Dev was momentarily surprised by Jos's answer. He had never lacked for female attention, and as far as he knew never seemed overly upset by his parent's restrictions on his dating habits. "Got your eye on a girl your parents don't approve of?" Dev guessed.
"Something like that," Jos said quietly as he leaned against the wall next the window seat, eyes still fixed on Devon, who shifted, slightly uncomfortable under his unrelenting stare.
"What's the story?" Dev asked, trying to divert Jos, wincing slightly at his choice of topic.
"Relax," Jos said, "I don't mind." He shifted around, settling himself more comfortably against the wall. "There's really not the much too it. I have a crush, I guess you could call it. Most likely unreturned, though I'm not sure. Doesn't really matter, though, at the moment, because there isn't any way we could be together. So I saw said crush dancing, pressing up against other people, getting felt up and enjoying it. And Ifigured getting away from the sight was a good idea." Joscelin was silent amoment, considering, them he gave a self-mocking smile. "And that sounds so clich
