As she neared the middle-mark of her third bottle of beer, Pen deemed herself properly buzzed; although, anyone looking at her would agree that she was more than a little "buzzed". Although she was alone, she was laughing and stumbling around the room she was in, Mikey having gone back to the Green Room after Pen had snapped at him. Just as she carelessly dropped the half-empty bottle onto the ground, hearing the glass hitting the floor and liquid chugging out, Gerard walked in.

"Hey, Pen." He had also had a few drinks, but he was much more experienced and could hold his liquor better.

She giggled, biting her lower lip and looking up at him (up, since she had fallen on the floor, in a puddle of booze). "He--hic-hello...Gerard!" she laughed again, falling back so that her hair dangled into the little pool.

"Hey, hey," he stepped forward, grabbing Pen's arm and hauling her, unsteadily, to her feet. She swayed when he let go of her shoulder, but stayed on her feet. "Have a little too much?" he asked her.

"No!" she laughed, swatting him playfully on the chest and stumbling slightly with the effort.

"Whoah, steady. I think you have. C'mon, let's go back to the bus." With that, Gerard led Pen out of the room and outside into the chill air, onto the warm bus. Gerard led the girl back to his room and sat her gingerly on his bed, while he rustled about with some things in the room, removing a tiny plastic bag with white powder from his jacket pocket.

"Wh-wha's that?" Pen slurred, eyeing the bag suspiciously.

"You know," he told her. "Have you ever tried it?"

"N-no. I'm not s'posed t'--" she hiccupped.

"Why not?" Gerard smirked, rolling his eyes in that oh-you-silly-child kind of way, which made Pen narrow her eyes. "Because Mommy told you not to? Because the teachers at school say it's bad?" Pen nodded. "Tell me something, Pen: Do you like being drunk?" Pen giggled once more and nodded, able to answer this question with ease. "Well, this--" Gerard dangled the baggy in front of her face, making her vision double for a moment. "--is about a thousand times better."

Pen looked at the bag hanging in front of her face. "...F'r real?"

"Real as it gets," Gerard nodded, then turned and dumped the contents of the bag onto a small compact-sized mirror, cutting the powder into four neat, little lines with a playing card produced seemingly out of nowhere. Gerard didn't have to beckon to Pen to draw her in closer; that was achieved by the pure mystique of the drug he was cutting. Again out of nowhere, a tiny, cut-off straw appeared between Gerard's fingers. "Just do as I do," he instructed. He lowered his face to the table, his right nostril hovering above the straw that sat atop one of the lines of blow. Pressing his left nostril closed with his fingers, Gerard moved down the line, snorting deeply as he did so, making the line of fine, white powder disappear into his nasal passages. He repeated this action with a second line, leaving the last two for Pen. He sniffed a few times and blinked, a stupid smile spreading on his face as he passed her the straw. "You try," he instructed, shaking his head and still grinning. Of course, he didn't actually believe Pen would do it, he was just trying to freak her out.

Hesitantly, Pen copied Gerard's moves, quickly inhaling the two lines of coke as she had seen her friend do moments before. It burned the back of her sinuses, and her eyes began to water. Blinking, she noticed that each time she closed and then opened her eyes, her vision would get clearer, sharper. The colors in the room became more...child-like, and striking, and the lights seemed to illuminate her very being, shining brighter than the sun, but not hurting her eyes. Oh no, far from that, it felt lovely. Every nerve in her body was standing on edge, tingling and tickling her senses. She shivered, goose-bumps erupting all over her skin and making her giggle. Oh, yes, this was a lovely feeling.

Gerard gaped. He hadn't actually expected Pen to do it; she seemed so innocent.

"Oh, Gerard," she said, moving slowly and sensually as the euphoric feeling enveloped her body, causing her mind to become warm and fuzzy. "This is...amazing..." she spoke slowly, not wanting to break this spell that this guy, her best friend, the most wonderful man in the world, had placed her under. "It's just...lovely...I feel all...tingly...ohh..." she swiftly embraced him in a hug, an effort to thank him for introducing him to this wonderful feeling.

"Isn't it wonderful?" he cooed into her hair, sliding his hands smoothly all up and down her back, making her shiver and moan.

"Yes..." she murmured into his shirt, rolling her shoulders and tilting her head back, basking in the glow of her high.

But, then the feeling began to ebb away, making Pen whimper. "No," she whined. "Come back..."

"Shh..." Gerard continued to caress her body. "It's not over. Don't worry."

She was about to yell, to scream, to beg him to bring the feeling back to her; she needed it now, craved it. Pen felt herself nearing tears, she so desperately wanted the blissful feeling to return, to make her melt.

Just as her emotions seemed to be piling up on her, she felt another feeling. She felt...powerful. Pen felt...strong! And brave! She could do anything, she knew. Her chest swelled with pride, and she was in such a mental state of triumph that she thought she might burst. If she wanted to, she could have flown to the moon, she knew it.

Pen pulled away from Gerard, stretching her arms above her head, spread out like an eagle about to take flight, for that's what she felt she was going to do. Any minute, she would just lift off the ground and fly away...

...Just think happy thoughts
And we'll fly home.
We'll fly home.
You and I,
We'll fly home...

Fly home...Pen didn't want to fly home! She was home, right here, right now. "I'm staying!" she declared, her mind set.

"Where?" Gerard asked, grinning broadly at her, still standing spread-eagled in front of him.

"Where what?" Pen turned to him, a little annoyed that he had interrupted her thought process. Now she'd never get it back! That's okay, she tried to calm herself with. Plenty more thoughts to be thunk; it wasn't over.

But what if it was? What if it ended and she didn't remember any of this? What if...what if this feeling ever went away? No! No, it couldn't! She wanted to keep it forever! "I need it!" she cried, stumbling around the room, worried about where she'd go to hide from whoever would come to take the feeling away. "I need it!" she flung herself into Gerard's arms, sobbing, "Don't let them take it away, Gerard! Please! I need it! Don't let them have it, I have to have it!"

"Shh..." Gerard kissed the top of her head, knowing that she needed to calm down. "Nobody's gonna take it...I'm right here. As long as you have me, they'll never take it away."

"Promise?" she sniffed, looking up at him with her big, doey, green eyes. Tears coated veneers over the surface of her eyes, giving them the appearance of glass orbs. The tears spilled out, cascading down her cheeks.

"Shh..." Gerard purred once more, reaching down to wipe her face gently with the tips of his fingers. "I promise," he added, firmly. She smiled once more, showing all her teeth and looking happier than ever.

"Oh, Gerard!" She threw her arms wildly around his neck, never wanting to let go for fear that they'd be able to take the feeling away. Kissing him all over his face, she wanted to show him how much it meant to her that he did this for her. He tossed his head back and laughed, nuzzling his nose against hers. She giggled; his nose was smooth and tickly against hers.

Somehow, the two ended up on Gerard's bed, snuggling their bodies as close as possible; not for warmth, or comfort, but for the pure feelings brought on by the touch of another human being. Their foreheads touched, sending electricity spiraling through Pen's brain. They faced each other, arms draped around the others' body to keep close.

"I told you," Gerard whispered into Pen's face. His breath smelled like cigarettes and stale alcohol, but Pen thought it was the most wonderful thing in the world. She smiled and nodded.

"I'm glad I have you, Gee," she said, finding it easier to say the first letter of his name than the full name. Less work on her brain that could be better-spent in this utopian dreamland.

It was only a matter of time before the two began sharing kisses. Not sexual, but sensual. Gerard's soft, pale lips massaged Pen's, as she ran her tongue along his lower lip, begging to be let into his mouth. He obliged, worming his tongue into her mouth as well. Their tongues danced, teeth clashed, saliva coating their mouths in the sloppiness of it. They stopped after a few minutes to catch a breath, and Pen felt herself nodding off, only to be woken up again by Gerard nudging her and begging for another kiss.

It went on like this for a while: Pen would begin to doze off, and Gerard would nuzzle her with his nose, or flick his tongue out across her bottom lip, waking her and starting up another makeout session.

Eventually, though, both partners fell asleep. Their arms were wrapped around each other, their faces touching, warm breath mingling together as their chests rose and fell together in a single rhythm.

Did I tell you or what? HUGE turning point in the story, and from here on out, it’s going to take a darker spin. Not very dark, but it gets very explicit with drug use and such. So if that offends you, stop reading. So yeah. Comments. Do it. OverAndOutxx

P.S. @hey_nena, with the thing you mentioned with continuity in the last chapter, it's actually not really off. Before they actually start playing, most bands will interact with the crowd, say what's up, mess around a bit while things are still getting set up. So yeah. Just sayin'.
