Though I’ve had a cell phone, I’d never really had anyone but my parents to text, so I’m not very familiar with it. But I figure it’s worth the try. I enter the number, he scribbled on the small piece of paper, into my phone. I save it, of course, as Brendon. Then I spend a few minutes trying to open up a text, and put his number in it.

Hey

Hey, what ya doin?

Nothin really bored. =(

I know, right? Hey I just wanted to say thanks for agreeing to tutor me… and not making me feel like I’m an idiot.

=) No problem. You’re not an idiot you just have a different way of learning.

I don’t know how you stay by yourself all the time. You’re a cool guy. We should hang out sometime.

I bite my lip. I don’t know about that…

Maybe lol

How about tomorrow then?

Tomorrow?

Yes. I mean besides tutoring like at school

Oh. Well yeah sure.

Cool I gotta shower so I’ll see you tomorrow.

See ya.

Don’t think about him in the shower.
Don’t think about his wet, naked body.
Don’t think about water droplets sliding down his neck to his chest and then ever lower.
Don’t think about how much you’d love to-

“Ryan!” Mom calls.

I blush and go to the living room.

I sit at my normal spot underneath the large oak tree, listening to my iPod, begging to be invisible. It’s not that I wouldn’t like to hang out with Brendon, because I would, it’s just I don’t know his friends. They may not be as nice and accepting. I catch a glimpse of Brendon and quickly look down, pretending to read my book. Out of the corner of my eye I see him walk over and squat beside me. He lightly taps my shoulder. I take out one of my earphones.

“Hey.” I smile.

“You can read upside down?” he raises an eyebrow.

I blush You idiot “Not really but I was trying.” I lie casually.

“Cool. So you wanna meet my friends?”

Not particularly. I nod.

I put my book into my bag and rap my earphone cords around my iPod. I shove my iPod in my pocket as I stand up. I follow him to a red table with 5 or so guys. One flips his long black bangs out of his eyes. I push up my glasses.

“Ryan, this is Spencer, John, Mikey, Gerard, Patrick, and Andy. All of you guys, this is Ryan.”

There are a few “Hey’s” and nods of the head. I smile back awkwardly.

Brendon sits down and motions for me to sit beside him. I do, feeling like the world is watching my every move. Brendon leans his head on my shoulder.

“You alright?” he mumbles.

I nod “I just… I have a phobia of being around a lot of people.”

“Really? I’m sorry do you wanna just-“

“I’m fine…”

“Ok.” He doesn’t move. I feel his breath on my neck.

I try, and fail, not to shiver.

He chuckles, a beautiful sound to my ears.

No. I am not falling in love with this boy.

I feel my face warm up, and find my self smiling. For a moment I forget that we aren’t the only two left in the universe.
