"Alright, now that breakfast is over I want everyone to meet in the library." Pete ordered.
Of course everyone obliged and fifteen minutes later everyone was once again gathered in the library.
"First and foremost, some of you know our new guest and some of you do not. This is Emily Green. She is one of us and an old friend of mine." Pete said, motioning toward Emily. Emily waved in return.
"Emily, you know Patrick, Frankie, Gee, Joe, Andy, Mikey, Cass, and Gabe of course. This is Brendon, Ryan, and Maja. They joined us about a year or so ago." Pete motioned at Brendon, Ryan, and Maja.
"It's nice to meet you all." Emily smiled.
"And lastly, this is Rayne, Blaise, Lyric, and River. The Mysticals."
"You are so young." Emily gasped.
"It's nice to meet you Emily." The four teens replied politely.
"Now that everyone has been properly introduced let's get down to business." Pete ordered. "Rayne, let's start with you. I want to know what you can do."
"Yes sir. I can manipulate and control wind, air, and weather conditions."
"Thank you Rayne. Blaise?"
"I control fire, heat, and emotions."
"Good. Lyric?"
"My specialty is the senses. I can control sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste."
"Interesting. River?"
"I control water, rain, ice, and coldness."
"Thank you. So, now I believe we know why Beckett is so desperate to get his hands on them."
"My question is how exactly do we keep them safe?" Gabe questioned.
"Maja and I were talking last night and we think we might have an idea." Cassadee spoke up.
"Let me hear it."
"Well, Cass and I thought it would be a good idea to cast spells on the front gate, the house, and the windows. That should hold off anyone that doesn't belong." Maja revealed.
"We can also set up pendalum traps to catch anyone that does get through the gates." Cassadee offered.
"It sounds like a good plan to me. Grab some people to help and get to work on that." Pete directed.
"Okay. Joe and Andy, do you think you can handle the windows?"
"Sure thing Cass. I'll start downstairs. Andy, you can take the upstairs."
"Frank, Gee, and Mikey, do you remember how to set pendalum traps?"
"Yep. No sweat, Maja." Frank grinned.
"Since I can control lightening I can manipulate the lightening and place it along the gates surrounding the property. It could help keep intruders out and it can be turned on and off at will to prevent accidents." Rayne offered.
"Excellent. Any other suggestions?" Pete questioned.
"I think we're good." Gabe smirked.
"Get to work then." Pete ordered.
Everyone set about their different tasks. Gabe decided to catch up with Emily.
"Emily."
Emily turned to find Gabe.
"What do you want, Saporta?"
"Em, I want to apologize. I know what I did to you is unforgivable but I am sorry. I wish I could take it back."
"Look Gabe, just don't. The only way this will work is if you stay far away from me. Nothing will ever be okay between us again. I'm only here to help these kids not to fix anything between us."
"Okay." That was Gabe's only response as he slumped away.
Gabe's thoughts took him back to when Emily was still his, when they were happy. Emily had known what Gabe was. He had met her seven years ago through Pete. She had helped Pete on several missions. She was a skilled fighter even while she was still human.
He remembered the first time he lay eyes on her. Pete had sent him to meet Emily. They were to work together on a mission to disband a group of murderous vampires. He remembered the first time he saw her standing there. She had taken his breath away with her beautiful smile and mesmerizing grey-blue eyes. She had silky, wavy, shoulder length brown hair. She had been dressed in a simple pair of jeans and an old band tee but that's one thing he loved about her. She didn't care what she wore as long as she was comfortable.
After their meeting they had gotten closer and closer until they were practically inseparable. They were the best of friends but that friendship had blossomed into something much stronger. Gabe had loved Emily and Emily had loved Gabe despite him being a vampire. But one fateful night had ruined everything.
There had been an accident and Emily had been badly injured. There was so much blood and Gabe was unable to control himself. He had bitten her, changed her. He had condemned her to walk the Earth for all eternity. Emily never forgave him for his weakness.
A tear escaped Gabe's eye as he relived what he had done in his mind.
Meanwhile, everyone else was busy setting their traps and casting their spells.
Once Rayne was done setting her traps she wandered to Mikey's side to see if she could help.
"Hey Mikey, need any help?"
"Hi Rayne. Do you know how to set pendalum traps?"
"Yeah. My parents taught me."
"Okay then, you can take over for Gerard since he's being a lazy ass."
"I am not being lazy. I am simply admiring the view from here." Gerard grinned, waggling his eyebrows in Frank's direction who was currently bent over setting a trap.
"Stop looking at my ass, Gerard Way." Frank sneered, throwing a pendalum stone at Gerard and earning giggles from Mikey and Rayne.
"Oh, you two think that was funny?" Frank snickered, grabbing a water hose and chasing them around.
Fifteen minutes later Mikey and Rayne collapsed on the ground laughing.
"Your family is great Mikey. How did you get so lucky?"
"I-I haven't always lived here. I lived with my parents until that bastard William Beckett murdered them. Then I came to live with Gee and Frank."
"Oh Mikey, I'm sorry. I didn't realize. I-I..."
"Hey, it's okay. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Especially now that you are here." Mikey blushed.
Rayne smiled and pecked his lips gently.
"Get a room you two." Lyric walked by and snickered.
"Leave them alone, Lyr. I think they're adorable." River winked.
Mikey pulled Rayne down and wrapped an arm around her. They lay there staring at the clouds and picking out random shapes in the sky.
