Chapter 11
The four boys get back to the community centre a little early, so sit on the freshly painted benches outside and spark up a joint.
"This bench was painted by yours truly. Treat is with respect." Brendon said patriotically.
As soon as he said that, Jon got up and started jumping on it, making little cracking noises in the woodwork.
Brendon just shook his head. "Kids these day's. No respect for nothing." He said, in an old mans voice.
A slight moment of silence before Ryan strikes up another conversation.
"So, what was all that in the park today then boys?" He says, head pointing towards Spencer and Jon.
Nobody spoke.
"Well?" Ryan said anxiously.
Brendon spoke for them.
"Well, i recon it's because me and you are an awesome couple and they were jealous but they realized they aren't sexy enough to get anyone in the real world so they settled for each other."
Brendon expected a laugh but turned around to see Ryan, open mouthed, staring into his eyes.
"What? Is there something on my face or some shit?" Brendon said warily.
"No. N-no.. you said, couple. You said we're a... couple." Ryan said slowly.
"Oh, um, shit, fuck, i mean, sorry it's just...-"
He was cut off by Ryan planting his lips gently upon his, sweeping them across his cheek to nibble on his ear, then gently whisper "I like it.", very seductively then giving him a small wink.
"Yeah ok enough of the love fest" Jon said impatiently.
"Hah! You can't talk, you two could barely keep it in your pants under that apple tree!"
They blushed.
Surprisingly, Spencer spoke.
"Hey Jon, should we go and sign out and we could go for a drink or something, just for something to do, you know."
"Yeah sure, see you guys later" Jon said, taking one last drag of the spliff and walking off, laughing at whatever Spencer was mumbling.
Shortly after the two others left, Ryan and Brendon made their way to the rooftops where the group had recently made a little seating area filled with left over furniture from the community centre. They dragged two orange plastic stools to the edge of the roof so they could watch the sun slowly drifting down past the city buildings.
"So, we're a couple then? Legitimate, associated, connected, together, as one..-"
"Yes Ryan, you're my boyfriend." Brendon said, tilting his head and awaiting a kiss from Ryan.
Ryan leaned in, stroking the underside of Brendon's face whilst placing sweet little kisses around his lips. Soon, his tongue was exploring Brendon's mouth, biting his bottom lip and caressing his tongue.
Heads were being tilted, legs being tangled and bodies being stroked, they two were too into their antics to realize Brendon was tilting off his stool and leaning towards the ledge. As Ryan stroked Brendons collarbone, it sent shivers down his spine causing him to retract from Ryan's touch and jerk backwards.
As he jerked backwards he lost his footing as the stool began to stand on just two legs. Two legs soon became one and one leg became nothing but air. Air gliding through Brendon's lungs and he lunged towards the ground. It all seemed to go in slow motion for Ryan as he could do nothing but watch Brendon plummet through the summers air. Tears fell from his eyes, they seemed to linger on his face for what seemed like hours as Brendon kept falling for what seemed like days. Ryan was shaken from his trance as a loud thud sounded and he knew what had happened even before he stepped to look over the ledge.

"Community service is canceled today for obvious reasons." Catherine's voice echoed through the centre.
Spencer and Jon just nodded as they made their way out of the centre and headed back to Jon's house. As they were walking home, Jon gave Ryan a quick text.
Hey, hope u r ok, giv me a call if u need 2 tlk. X

There was no funeral. Brendon didn't have a dad, and his mum was too wrapped up with Mark. It's not that she didn't care; it was her son for god's sake. She just didn't feel the need to have one. He was gone. Nothing could be done to bring him back.
Ryan spent the last few days in his room. He didn't leave; only to use the toilet. His mum brought him food; which he didn't eat, and came to talk to him; which he didn't respond to. He was lifeless. He just sat at the bottom of his bed, hugging a shirt that Brendon had left in his locker. His tear stained face couldn't look itself in the mirror as he forced himself to change his clothing.
A knock sounded from the front door.
Footsteps came up the stairs.
A knock sounded at his bedroom door.
He opened it.
Jon and Spencer.
"Hey man" Jon said as he hugged Ryan who was resting up against his desk.
"Um, hey" Spencer said with a consoling smile.
"Hi" Ryan manged to slip out.
"So, we thought we would come and ask if you were ready to go to, you know, the graveyard...?" Jon caringly spoke.
"I guess. I didn't get to tell him i love hi-.. loved him. I need a shower. I'll be 10 minutes." He said with no emotion in his voice whatsoever.
When he came back he noticed Jon and Spencer in each other arms, they soon noticed Ryan and quit what they were doing, not meaning to rub it in his face that his once love is no longer here."
"Ready." Ryan once again emotionlessly droaned out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey Bren. How are you? "
He waits for a response.
"That's good, i'm fine. Not without you though. No, i haven't slept." Waits once again, for his inner voice to answer for him.
Before Ryan could say anything else, he broke down. Jon and Spencer tried to comfort him but it was no use. Ryan lay on his side and rock gently as if he could make it all go away. Sure, he had only known him a few days, but anyone with eyes so brown and hair so soft could make anyone fall in love with them in a matter of hours.
Jon kept hearing twitching and slight mumbling, but figured it was just summer bee's buzzing around the lifeless yard.
There it is again.
And again.
Spencer was about to speak just as Jon decided to butt in.
"Holy shit guys, you're not going to believe this."
