The walls of the hospital were lined with papers and clip boards with lists of patients who were going to be released and who was going to stay. Gerard walked past them, ignoring how the fluttered with the suction of wind that was created by his passing. His shoulder length black hair fell loosely over his eyes and he tossed his head to the left in an attempt to get it to move.
“Dr. Way!”
Gerard stopped and turned on his heal to see who was calling his name. A small girl was running behind him, half flailing her arms trying to catch up.
“Dr. Way! Dr. Way!” When she was finally next to him, her hands were on her knees trying to catch her breath.
Gerard smiled. “Slow down Lucy. What seems to the be matter?”
Lucy looked up at him though her blond hair still trying to catch her breath. “I’m leaving! I’m finally leaving!”
“Oh Lucy that’s great!” He laughed and pulled her into a hug.
A woman about the age of 40 walked up behind Lucy with a smile on her face. “Lucy. Come on sweetie its time to go.”
Lucy pulled out of Gerard’s embrace and looked up at him with tears in her eyes. “Thank you so much.”
Gerard’s arms hung loosely around her waist as he leaned in a kissed her forehead. “Lucy you were the only one who did anything. You fought when no one else wanted to. You did it. Not me.”
She nodded, hugging him one more time before walking over to her mother. The older woman smiled at the doctor before walking out the door with her daughter.
After the they had left the building, Gerard turned and continued to make his way down the white hall towards his office. The nurses smiled and nodded as he passed them, some trying to hide a blush when he smiled back. He made it to his office, opening the door and shutting it before jumping on the computer. He checked his email, smiling when he found one from his brother.
Gee! Hey! How’s it going down at Hospital Hell Hole? Ha! I hear its bad down there. Not so much better up here but hey, it could be worse right? Anyways, I just thought I would drop a line and hope you have time to get back to your boring old younger brother.
Love ya Gee,
-Mikey
Gerard smiled at how childish his brother could be. His fingers found the keys and made a quick response.
Hey, Mikeys! Its not bad here. A little slow actually. Truthfully its bad outside but no one ever makes it to me. They all die before I can fix them. Twisted humor right? Hope none of my patients find out…..if I ever get any. Lol
Whats so bad about home? Is mom being all “Empty Nest” again? Enjoy it. The real world is a bitch.
Love ya and miss ya.

Gerard hit the send button and just as he was about to log off, another e-mail showed up in his inbox. The title was what caught his eye. “Doctor’s rape 16 year old boy in medical ward”
He clicked on the link, almost not wanting to read it but he soon saw the location of the medial ward and his stomach was in his throat. Belleville Medical. His old location. His eyes scanned the article, reading it over.
Authorities were shocked to find that previous resident 16 year old, Frank Iero had come forth about being sexually assaulted during his stay at Belleville Medical. He told police earlier this week that “He told me it was a check up but…..it wasn’t” Iero later went on to say the doctor who raped him was Rufus Turnner. Turnner’s body was found soon after Iero was released. Chief police Gordon Hilliard said “Turnner’s body was found late in the day, a confirmed homicide.” It is unclear the exact cause of Turnner’s death but some have speculated it was a murder powered by Revenge.
Gerard turned off his computer in disgust. How could any doctor do such a thing? To anybody, let along a 16 year old boy. He moved his black hair out of his face as he heard his name over the intercom. “Dr. Way you are needed at the front desk. Dr. Way you are needed at the front desk.”
He stood up and made his way to the front desk as he was requested. The smell of the halls filled his nose, his raven hair covering the left side of his face as he walked. Once he arrived at his destination, he was greeted by the receptionist, Jessica. She had wavy red hair that was pulled back into a side ponytail. Her pale face was covered in freckles and thin black eyeliner outlined her blue eyes. She smiled at him, trying not to blush when he smiled back. “Hello Dr. Way.”
She looked up at him, tapping her fingers on the keys to keep busy as he talked. “Hello Ms. Jessica. I was called to the Front Dest?”
“Oh! Yes. Yes you were. The mother of one of your previous patients want to speak with you. She says its urgent”
He tilted his head. “Of coarse. Where is she?”
“Right over there Doctor.”
He nodded and slowly walked into the waiting room in search of the woman who was waiting for him. His eyes scanned the room, trying to figure out who was the one he was to meet with. He didn’t recognize anyone but an older lady stood up. She had brown hair and her eyes were red from crying. Her face was pale and filled with worry. Her cloths were wrinkled but her hands ran over them, trying to fix that. Gerard could tell she was half put together but still tried to look presentable.
The woman walked forward, her eyes on him the whole time. “Dr. Way.”
Her voice was rasp and rough but still some how soft. “My name is Linda Iero……”
Iero, Iero…..Gerard knew that name. he remember the article he read in his email before coming here. They boy that was raped by doctors. Iero…Frank Iero. His eyes widened before he reached his hand out, wondering what she could want with him. “Gerard. No need to be formal. What can I do for you Ms. Iero?”
She took his hand, shaking it before withdrawing. “My son…..he…has been though some things and…..something is wrong. He won’t let anyone near him to help but……” Tears were starting to form in her eyes.
Gerard placed a soft hand on her arm. “Come. Talk in my office. Its ok.”
She nodded “Thank you.”
He lead her to the elevator, letting her in first before following and pressing the button to take them to level 4. The elevator kicked to life, dropping 2 levels before reaching its destination. Again Gerard let Ms. Iero out first then led her down the hall, unlocking his office and holding the door open to let her in. She nodded and sat down in a chair while he sat behind his desk after closing the door. “You have my full attention and as much time as you need Ms. Iero. How can I help?”
She sighed, finding her voice. “I’m so sorry to come here and take up your time like this but…..My son needs your help. He is sick and won’t let anyone near him. He cries at night….sometimes from pain, other times from fear. Truthfully I can’t tell anymore. He trusted you. When he was younger, he was in and out of the hospital all the time. You were his main doctor….”
Gerard nodded. He remembered the boy now. “Frankie. Yes, I remember. Never stopped smiling no matter what day it was.”
Ms. Iero half laughed, half sobbed. “Yes. He loved that nickname….”
He nodded. "What can I do for him?"
She shook her head. "I don't know really. He liked you alot. Talked about you all the time and I just....I was hoping you could...I don't know. He needs someone he can trust and maybe you could be that person. If he can remember a doctor who wasn't bad to him. Who won't do....those things maybe I can have my Franklin back." Tears escaped her eyes as she tried to wipe them away. "I know this is alot to ask and we don't really have any money to pay you so I understand if..."
Gerard took Ms. Iero’s hands in his. “Ms. Iero. I will camp out in a dungeon if that’s what it takes to help your son.”
She nodded, fully crying now. “Thank you.”
Should I continue? Not really sure of I should......please R&R???
