Please read and review! Thanks!
"Patrick..." I groaned, frustrated with my brother. He was still SO mad at Pete.
"It's so fucked up that you're basically doing this all alone!" Patrick complained. He wasn't upset that I was pregnant with Pete's baby, but that Pete and I weren't together because he cheated on Meagan with me and I'm getting screwed.
"I was well aware of the consequences that night, too."
"It was fucking selfish of him! Here you are, living on your own, dealing with your pregnancy on alone while he gets to keep living his life." Patrick slammed a kitchen cabinet shut. This whole conversation started with me saying that Pete took me to buy baby furniture this morning.
"Well, think of the positive side. I'm going to stay in LA." I tried to make Patrick smile, but he just gave me that look. The one that said shut up. Suddenly my phone rang and Pete's face popped up on the screen. I frowned in confusion. He said he was spending the day with Meagan. "Hello?"
"Hey Mandy. Where are you at?" Pete asked sounding confused.
"Patrick's, why?"
"Oh, I'm at your place. I need to talk to you." Pete sounded off. Kinda like something horrible has happened, but it hasn't really set in yet.
"Is everything okay?" I asked and glanced up at Patrick, who look at me in confusion.
"Um, yes and no. Stay there. I'll come to you." Pete informed me.
"Okay, see you soon." I said and Pete hung up.
"What's going on?" Patrick asked.
"Not sure. Pete sounded really odd. He said 'yes and no' when I asked if anything was wrong."
"That's weird. Is he coming over?" Patrick asked me and I nodded. I guess I'll find out soon.
It was roughly a half hour later when Pete arrived. He definitely looked upset.
"What's going on?" Patrick asked before I could say anything. We were still in the kitchen because Patrick was making dinner.
"Um... well... Meagan's not pregnant," Pete said, looking at me to gauge me reaction.
"Oh no! Did she have a miscarriage? Pete I'm so sorry!" I jumped down from the stool and hugged him instantly. He must be devastated. Pete didn't fully embrace me.
"That's not why." He said and I pulled back from the hug to look at him. What?
"What do you mean? How is she not pregnant then?" Patrick asked.
"She never was. She lied." Pete told Patrick, then turned his eyes back to mine. "She said she feared I would leave her for you, so she lied."
"What did you do?" I was shocked. How can you lie to someone about the existence of another human being for 5 months?????
"Told her to get the fuck out."
"Wait, so you left her?" Patrick asked, not sounding angry or anything.
"Yeah, I did." Pete looked down and took one of my hands in his before looking me in the eyes again. "Can we talk in private?" I nodded and led him to the study while Patrick stayed in the kitchen. After Pete shut the door, he pressed his lips to mine, kissing me with such need. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he wrapped his around my waist, pulling me close.
"I love you," Pete said softly.
"I love you," I replied.
"I've been waiting 9 years for this moment," Pete confessed and I began to tear up. Damn hormones. A few tears slipped out and Pete wiped them away with a smile. "Hormones?" He teased me.
"Yes," I said and wiped some more away. He kissed me softly and hugged me. "Hey, wait," I pulled back. "Are you upset that you're only having one child?"
"Yes," Pete sighed. "But what can I do? At least I have you now." I just nodded and kissed him softly. "So, do you think Patrick will stop being mad at me now?"
"Well..." I laughed. "Possibly. He's pretty mad about me being followed by the paparazzi 24/7."
"He's not the only one... oh shit..."
"What?" I was confused for a moment before I realized what he was thinking. "Things are going to get worse, huh?"
"I don't know."
