----------------
Introduction from Joshua Williams: It is amazing to be on the Naturist Living Show today, in the function of an interviewer. A few months ago, I came across an extremely intriguing tumblr blog called Bare to Bush, which describes the project totally.
On September 16th, 2013, a girl decides to shave off all of her pubic hair, and then follow its regrowth through words and pictures, on the internet. And while it sounds utterly sophomoric, the reality is that the journey, if you will, has been rather deep. It turned into an opportunity to consider her own body and open up a conversation with other girls and men about bodies in general, the great and the bad.
I 'm pleased to have had a dialog with the creator and writer of the blog and now the site, baretobush.com. Yet, as the website is written anonymously, we chose to have to have the dialog via chat after which use the transcript to record an interview with another girl's voice.
Naturally, we discuss the reason for this anonymity in the interview, but also delve into discussions associated with nudity, sexuality, body acceptance and obviously, body hair.
Joshua: What was the genesis for this somewhat exceptional job?
BtoB: Actually, I was bored one day , and so I shaved my pubic hair. I have always believed it is amusing how folks have Tumblr blogs about ridiculous things that look like no one would care, so I got it in my head to create a site where I followed the re-growth of my pubic hair simply out of pure boredom and to amuse myself.
Sort of like how people say, "it is as dull as watching paint dry," I figured it'd be a interesting, dull picture journal of hair growing back.
And of course, Tumblr enables you to do something like that, unlike other social media platforms!
BtoB: Not really. I actually just did it for enjoyment and figured I'd have just a couple folks following it who also thought it was amusing or who only wanted to see graphics of a girl's crotch.
And I am certain there are those that visited the blog for that very reason! At what stage do you think it took on an alternative measurement?
BtoB: I believe the first time I actually understood that it was having an impact was when I made a post about the reality of nude photography. I had no thought it would explode the manner that it did, I only had it in my brain that I wanted to show folks that all of the "self shot" pictures they see are still introduced and carefully positioned and the body can be so different depending on how it is modeled.
I made that post, thought nothing of it except maybe being happy that it turned out so well, and 4 hours after it had already reached well over 2 thousand folks. Right now I think it's something like 103 thousand "notes" on it. That made me recognize that I 'd inadvertently started saying things that people really related to.
And with the popularity of the "selfie" and self-awareness it appeared to actually connect with readers on a variety of levels.
BtoB: Absolutely. The web is so full of "self" these days, but so many folks do not understand that those individuals posting photographs still just post their best graphics, their finest "self." Folks believe that because something is not "commercial" it is somehow more natural, but that's not actually the situation a lot of times.
I'd say that most people who post all of those self shots - even something like a Facebook profile photograph - post only their absolute finest angles, which aren't actually indicative of how they appear in real life.
There is an "artifice" to these images then.
