This story is inspired by the fanfictions Harry Potter: Gaming Wizard Extraordinaire by Dreetje, The Adventures of Harry Potter, the Video Game Exploited by michaelsuave, Harry Potter: The Roleplaying Game by Renrag, Harry Potter & The Game by Concept101.
Now Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter or The Gamer manga. Any Game references I may or may not have used belong solely to that Game creators.
I always liked those fics which say upfront about the romance or what not straight up, so for readers like me this is a Harry/Harem (And by Harem, I mean a really big one). Harry's Harem also include monster girls (I haven't got a way around those that are not exactly humanoid yet so they will appear later on). So, if you don't like these factors sorry for wasting your time so far, everyone else please continue. Now in order for this to work I have changed some things from canon - like Hogwarts starts at age 13 instead of 11 (Meaning it’s AU). The rest I will tell you in later AN.
Edit: So once again I am trying to do this story of mine justice. Hopefully I will do better than last time.
* THOSE THAT READ MY ORIGINAL UPDATE CAN SKIP TO THE CHAPTER *
The basic over all plot line of the story remains the same as I have envisioned when I started writing the previous version. The differences are mainly regarding the game system (It is a full overhaul while retaining a few of the previous stuff), some new fleshing out, more quests etc.
I thought long and hard and realized that the story while having a basic beginning to end plot lines that connect it and still having a story, borders on smut (reason stated just below). So, I am reclassifying the story as Insane Borderline Smut Story. If you don’t like it, just stop, thank you for reading, following and reviewing so far.
I have realized that I can’t do romance very well, but the story has Harem tag, as such, I will mainly use the large harem for fluff and smut, with little to no romance or substance. This is done, because, well without spoiling all I can say is that, this weird situation and many others does underline a huge plot in the story, something which I have hinted at from the first chapter (this one) itself. Again, if you don’t like this fact, please don’t read it, as I am sure many will feel that it’s just a lame excuse for writing smut. Honestly it could very well be!
Let me summarize the warnings and you can see if you really want to go ahead with the story after that.
1) Slow updates (from months to years between chapters)
2) No meaningful romance stories
3) Contains fluff, smut, incest, shotacon and whatever my mind conjures up at the time. This story is going to have all shades dark, light and grey. (Mentions of rape, child abuse etc.)
4) My progress with English Language and in writing stories still remains at the very bottom level (sadly I don’t have the power of Gamer to level up), so cringe dialogues, absurd and choppy sentences, wrong grammar… well you get the point, right?
5) I am not a pro gamer; I have played maybe about 30 - 50 games. Meaning the game systems will have many flows, I have tried out to flesh out the system and have a good data sheet ready at hand. But I am sure there will be many stupid mistakes that I must have made. Do forgive me for it.
NOW, if you don’t like any of the above warnings please don’t read my story, thank you for reviewing, following and favouriting my stories so far.
A very BIG THANK YOU to all who supported, read and reviewed my story. As well as for everyone who continues to do so.
For those who still want to continue reading my story, I sincerely hope that every one of you will start from the beginning and help me out with my writing through your reviews.

So, without any further delay, let’s start this baby rolling!

Chapter 1

Bang Bang Bang
“Get Up!! Start making breakfast. Stop being lazy!!”, a woman half-shrieked as she pounded on the cupboard door and leaving after unlocking the door from the outside.
The rude knocking was enough to wake up anyone sane, the shrilly voice only added onto the misery of the now groggily awake Harry or ‘The Freak’ as his oh-so loving family called him.
“I’m up”, Harry replied from where he laid, his eyes adjusted to the darkness of the small cupboard he was in, he got up quickly as he didn’t want to get a beating for being slow in waking up. Getting out of his now opened ‘jail’, Harry had his eyes narrowed to small slits in preparation to adjust them to the light outside. With an ingrained grace, he soon busied himself at the kitchen making breakfast for his whale of an Uncle and Cousin, as well as his horse of an Aunt.
******
While this slice of life might surprise anyone else, it was not so for the nine-year-old boy named Harry Potter. This was his norm from ever since he was dumped on his relatives like a bottle of milk as his family, no relatives, would say.
This was just an average day in the daily life of Harry Potter, a very lonely child, who had a miserable life so far.
At the mere age of five he had to cook and serve for his family, though no one could call the Dursleys’ as Harry's family, if they knew of what the so-called family have done to him. His relatives always called him a freak or boy, never giving him a name of his own, as they even loathed to give the poor kid an identity of his own.
At age six he was made to do all the chores around the house. He tried to please his uncle and aunt by doing a good job, but neither recognition nor compassion was given to him. He was starved and beaten, if he made the slightest of mistake or if they thought he did anything freakish, though they never said what the freakish thing he done was.
Ever since he could understand emotions, Harry realized how abusive his Uncle was towards him. Degrading and starving on good days while beating up and locking him for days on worse days, his uncle had it out for him ever since he was pushed on to them.
His aunt on the other hand was completely different in her treatment of him, something he never could get a handle on. When in the presence of his Uncle, she was cold, indifferent and only biting comments left her mouth and not just him but towards his uncle as well. She made him do the house chores in the presence of his uncle and other chores when it was just him and his aunt in the house.
His cousin on the other hand was a budding version of his uncle, right down to the bones and fat, always bullying him, beating him and being a spoilt brat.
After going through so much, Harry realized that he will never be part of their family. For his relatives, he was ‘something’ rather than ‘someone’. And as ‘something’ they never wanted; they will never come to love him as well. Suffice to say he learned his lesson and his self-preservation slowly started to kick in. So, he held himself meekly in front of his so-called family, hiding his desires and true self from anyone and everyone.

******
After providing his relatives with a bountiful breakfast, of which he was only allowed to have some nibbles, donning the washed out castoffs of Dudley’s, Harry shouldered the patch worked bag that contained his meagre things and left for school, which he did only after making sure that his fat blob of a cousin has left before him, unless he wanted to get a beating this early in the day.
Looking at the Little Whinging School, one would see a bustling scene, many kids were walking, taking, having some fights, poking fun at each other and many more. Cacophony of various chattering, shuffling of shoes, doors opening and closing all created a sort of controlled chaos, and through this controlled chaos that was going on, a thin shadow moved across the school yard and the corridors, with an ease that would amaze anyone who would notice it.
Harry moved towards his classroom with a practiced ease he had developed over the years in his school life. He had no friends, his bully of a cousin made sure of that fact, with the addition of his own relatives spreading nasty rumours of him being a problem child, none of the teachers were interested in him as well, other than to keep an eye on him so that he won’t cause trouble.
Classes started with roll calls, and Harry, fully alert, made sure to not cause the repeat of the incident that happened on the very first day that started his school days, the humiliation of never knowing his own name until the teacher pointed out to him remained like a burn mark in his heart.
******

Until going to school, at the age of seven, Harry thought his name was Freak. That was one of the most humiliating days in his life as Harry was practically mocked by the teacher, who thought Harry was doing it on purpose. The addition of his own cousin joining the band wagon, the whole experience became a very painful one too, something that left a mark in his heart. When his uncle heard of what happened in class, courtesy of his cousin, Dudley Dursley, Harry got beaten badly by his uncle with the belt for the first time, and was starved for a week, which left a physical mark on his body as a reminder of that incident.
Even after the incident, which continued to fill the dark canvas that portrayed his life, Harry still had a tiny glimmer of hope that at least he would be safe at school. Alas that too was promptly snuffed out by his fat blob of a cousin Dudley and his merry gang of bullies. They bullied him, humiliated him and had quite the laugh at his expense. Because of his cousin and his gang, Harry never made a friend, anyone who even tried to talk to him was bullied by Dudley and his gang. Everyone learned quickly - stay away from Harry Potter.

******
Throughout the classes, break and all, Harry made himself scarce, away from anyone, especially his cousin’s bullying gang. The bell eventually rang signifying the end of the lessons.
Harry slowly made his way out of the class, sticking to the walls, making sure that his cousin and gang were not around. As he moved cautiously, Harry reached the school entrance, where the usual clamour of kids meeting their parents attracted his attention.
“Mom”
“Dad”
Children of varied age and gender, skipped, hopped and pranced towards their guardians, filling the corridor in myriad of bright colours. Far away from the brightness, in a shadowy corner stood the loner, a perpetual darkness seemed to follow that lonely child. Harry watched on, partly so that he could avoid the crowd and partly to soak in some happiness of his own.

When the first time Harry saw the kids being picked up and doted on by parents after school, he had wished for someone who would do the same for him. An old relative, a distant cousin, anyone to rescue him from the Dursleys. He wished for it every day for a year from the day he joined school. As days, weeks and months went by, Harry finally resigned himself and got rid of his foolish dreams.
Why would he be with the Dursleys if he had anyone else that could take care of him? He never believed his relatives about what they told about his parents,
“Your parents?”, Vernon bellowed in laughter, his whole-body fat jiggling around like waves in an ocean, “They were the dregs of the society, got themselves killed in a car crash”
“You are lying”, Harry said the only time he had courageous faced his uncle and the only time he never got hit for doing so.
“Ha…ha…”, Vernon laughed loudly seeing his nephews hardened face, “I heard your father whored your mother out before they died, who knows who your real father is?”
“You...are…lying”, Harry gritted out as his mind refused to accept such things.
“Ha…ha…”, Vernon’s laughter echoed in the house as Harry run away and into his cupboard to be away from his vile uncle.

It wasn't that he had some proof to say otherwise, rather it was the only thing that kept him going. So, he believed with all his heart that his parents loved him and something must have happened to them. Steeling his resolve, Harry promised himself to live his life through this hell and to finally learn what happened to them. Though the glee with which his uncle taunted him niggled in the back of his mind all the time.
******

After the crowd thinned out, Harry once again began his trek back to his jail. Safely passing the school entrance and reaching the road, Harry started to increase his speed of travel.
‘Hopefully I can reach the house before they can find me’, Harry thought as he quickly made his way back, almost practically in a short sprint.
“Oi, Potty. Guess what?”, his fat blob of a cousin yelled at Harry as said cousin and friends started towards him menacingly. Harry turned towards them fearfully and Dudley Dursley, his cousin particularly liked the scared expression on his cousin’s face as he added the answer to his previous question.
“It’s Harry Hunting Time!”
Alas, it seems Harry wouldn’t be able to escape his tormentors today.
“Not again”, Harry cursed under his breath as he started running, his gang of tormentors promptly gave chase as well.
As night fell, one tired and beaten Harry crawled into his cupboard, with a prominent black eye and split lips as visible reminder of his earlier encounter. The darkness of the cupboard called out to him and Harry gladly embraced it, to be away from another kind of darkness. No one seemed to care how he got the injuries, even if someone cared enough, found the reason and told the truth, the Dursley’s would deny any such accusations about their precious Duddukins in the first place. The very notion was a lost cause.
Harry played the subservient role of a slave to his relatives, a punching bag to his cousin and gang, submitting to their whims, but under the mask of that subservience laid an unbreakable will to survive and break free. And he did so, survive that is, day by day, night by night, he drudged on with his miserable life with hope of one day finding answers to his troubled life.
With the passage of one year after another, Harry slowly morphed from a slave to a true survivor. He was able to sneak some food into his cupboard when they tried to starve him, he was still skinny and underfed, but he managed. Wearing his cousin's old cast offs which were one too many sizes bigger didn't help with being seen as skinny either. None of his circumstances phased Harry though, as he has become numb to such conditions and had experienced enough to live past it. Even with all the darkness that surrounded him, Harry was able to catch some light to add to his own life, however few they might have been, it gave him the strength to live, it gave him the courage to dream and it gave him hope.

“Damn Duds, how did you manage to get your parents to buy this game station?”, Piers Polkis asked his best friend Dudley Dursley.
“Please, this is nothing. All I said was ‘I won’t eat if I don’t get this thing’ and ta-da, my parents bought it for me the next day.”, Dudley preened with his usual arrogance.
“This is so cool. Let’s play this thing all day.”, Piers shouted in excitement. Dudley gave an equally excited nod as they both concentrated on the game.
Unknown to both of them, an eight years old Harry was watching the whole thing from the corner of the main room. His shadow like presence gone largely unnoticed by the over exuberant boys. Harry has stumbled upon them as he was completing one of his chores, that of cleaning the house. Luckily for him, his uncle and Aunt was outside and his cousin and his tag along seemed completely oblivious to his presence, which granted him an opportunity to take in some part of the excitement without getting beaten up.
As Harry watched on and listened to the snippets that he was able to hear from his hiding spot, he learned that the game was an RPG or a Role-Playing Game. He watched as the hero in the game was awarded points, items, treasures as he saved princess and slew monsters by travelling through all sorts of fantastical places. Harry quickly became enamored with it, and as he continued watching them playing, he learned how to play it as well. He didn't become a genius or something at it, only just enough to know how to play it decently.
Naturally Harry couldn’t hang out there all day long unlike his cousin and soon had to suppress his desire and move on with his chore, failure in his given task meant getting beaten and starved.
Then again, it didn't matter whether he could continue watching it to learn everything as the possibility that he could play said video games in the first place will never happen as neither Dursleys nor anyone else for that matter would give him a game station or even allow him to touch such game station. It didn’t matter to Harry though as moments like these where he could sneak a peek at the television or his cousin playing video games or being able to read fantasy books in the school library were the only bright spots in his dark and dreary life.
That night he went to bed dreaming of his life being a video game, with him being the hero of the game. He would travel through all sorts of places like dungeons, forests, castles and then save many beautiful princesses and fair maidens, slay monsters and so on. Harry slept with a smile on his face as he had a wonderful dream that he never had in a long time.
The next morning, he half expected to wake up with a game window in front of him. But as usual dreams were only dreams and reality were always harsh. Harry by now have learned to expect the worse, thus he just went on with his life. The only good thing that happened was that the next day he was left alone in their house, as it was Dudley's birthday, and Mrs. Figg, who usually took him in at the request of the Dursley’s when they wanted to leave him behind, was not available to look after him that day.
The situation came to be, only due to the fact that Dudley was promised a trip, to somewhere new and interesting, on each of his birthdays and his parents as was the norm, catered to his every whim as such they had to go along with it no matter how adverse the situation was during said birthday.
That gave him an opportunity to play his cousin's video game without any repercussion, only after doing his chores for the day of course, otherwise he would be inviting a beating that he would rather not have. That one day was so bright that anytime he felt depressed, all Harry needed was to remember it, immerse himself in the role of the Hero in the game and a smile of pure delight would appear on his face, chasing away all dark thoughts.

Bang Bang Bang
“Get Up!! Start making breakfast. Now!!”, the woman, Petunia Dursley, once again half-shrieked as she pounded on the cupboard door and left after unlocking the door from the outside.
The customary rude knocking and the shrilly voice would have irritated Harry on any other day didn’t so much as phase him, as today was the day he was looking forward to most than any other day than the one when he had the chance to play his cousin's video games. Today, he was visiting the London Museum as part of a school excursion. His first time visiting any place other than school or his home town.
“I’m up”, Harry replied, trying to keep his excitement out of his voice, lest his relatives noticed and made him miserable. As usual, he soon busied himself at the kitchen making breakfast for his oversized Uncle Vernon Dursley, his cousin Dudley Dursley, as well as his aunt Petunia Dursley.
Once gain making sure that his cousin has already left for school, Harry went to school, this time with all the urgency he could muster so that he wouldn’t be late for the trip.

******
Harry walked with wide eyes and a huge grin on his face as he marvelled at the different art pieces, fossils, artifacts of old and much more that was displayed around him. He soaked in everything. Luckily his cousin and gang were nowhere to be seen and as such today was looking to be the best day of his nine years of life, just as he hopped it would be.
Walking around the museum along with his designated group something caught his eyes. It was a stone tablet with an ancient script written on it in some unknown language. What caught his attention was that unlike the rest of the exhibitions it was not encased in glass nor was it particularly guarded. This was especially glaring and it stood out to him from others as the exhibit was situated right in the middle of a large hall. Being curious, Harry went near in order to examine the stone tablet.
‘Curious, I wonder why they didn’t put up the normal protections around it. Maybe it is some ancient bathroom floor piece?’, Harry thought in a light hearted manner.
But all of that changed the instant he touched the stone. The moment his hands was laid upon the rough surface of the stone tablet, Harry felt something he had never felt before.
Harry felt an ancient power, how he knew it is so, he didn't know, but he instinctively knew it was sleeping, waiting for something or someone. Harry became more excited because of the weird feeling he had and started examining it more closely, running his hands through the carved-out script done in sharp strokes.
While his curiosity and the weird feeling made him trace his fingers through the ancient scripture carved on the stone tablet, unknowingly Harry slowly fell into a trance as his fingers once again started tracing the whole thing from the beginning, each iteration causing him to fall further into the said trance as he almost became blind to his surroundings. While doing this trance like movement with his fingers, Harry unconsciously started thinking about his life so far, all the bad and the handful of good things that happened in his life.
As the memories flowed through his mind, the once wishful thought that he once had emerged to the fore front, which made Harry to subconsciously focus on that wish. Harry thought whether this power he was feeling from the stone could grant him his wish, that of his life being a video game with him as its central character and hero.
Harry was suddenly jolted out of his trance as something or someone hit him on the back, causing him to be pushed forward harshly into the mysterious stone relic he was pursuing.
“Ah…”, Harry groaned as his head hit the stone relic around its sharp edge harshly, which immediately opened up a wound that started bleeding all over the stone tablet.
“Watch where you are going, Potty”, Dudley laughed at his fallen and bleeding cousin.
“Ha…ha…Stupid Potty”, Piers joined in on the teasing.
Dudley’s usual cronies joined in with laughter, but luckily it attracted a guard who chased them away and, in his fervour, to catch the miscreants, he missed a bleeding kid on the floor. Then again, he wouldn’t have as the magic in the ancient tablet have started working up at that moment, blocking the sight of any being that could see what was happening.
‘Of all the days, why do they have to pick on me today. Figures, my life couldn’t be normal for one day.’, Harry cursed in his mind as he got up, regaining balance and tried to wipe the blood away.
His bullies being chased by the guard brought him some joy, but his attention was turned towards his wound which hasn’t stopped bleeding. Try as he might, Harry couldn’t wipe of the blood pouring out of his head wound. It was then that he noticed something strange, there was no blood on his shirt or the floor.
Looking about, he saw all his blood being sucked into the stone tablet. Suddenly Harry felt dread and tried to move away, only for his dread to turn into out right worry as he seemed to be stuck in the place he stood.
His blood which contained his potent magic, worked as trigger for the almost unlimited magic power stored in the Ancient stone tablet. The ancient power as if accepting of Harry and his wish that he held in his mind, triggered a world changing super magic -The wish that Harry subconsciously made became reality as the stone poured out its power in its entirety through the power of the lay lines running beneath and over the London Museum spreading far and wide, all across the globe and beyond, like an imprint that will stay forever, and Harry became the conduit and cause of this impressive event.
A blinding light spread across the area, with the stone tablet as the centre. But the blinding light that rose all around Harry, that made him close his eyes, was only visible to him and him alone as the light travelled across the world and beyond.
Along with that though, Harry felt his body being poured full of molten liquid of some sort, making him scream which subsided along with the blinding light. Throughout the pain and the flash, Harry could have sworn that he heard a bell like chime along with the blinding light.
Ding!
When he opened his eyes, there was a blue coloured and nearly transparent screen that stood in front of his sight. Trying to shake away the after effects of the flash, which Harry thought was the reason behind the blue screen, he was met with failure as he could only look at the blue screen in front of him incredulously.
Observing it closely, he found something written inside the blue screen which prompted him to further concentrate.

Harry stared blankly at the information he read, on a surface level, he instantly realised the similarities with the games he had seen and played. But the information contained within the screen confused him.
Harry always knew something was different about him, what happened just before, the blinding light, followed by no one coming near him to enquire about it as well as about his screaming, was one of the biggest weirdness that had happened to him so far.
The only previous ones being shorting bulbs, fuses and that one time the colour of the wig, the teacher who poke fun at him for not knowing his name, changed.
As was his norm, Harry started to mentally go through what happened to him.
'I was simply examining the stone, it felt powerful, ancient. No that's not it. What happened just before the light? I was hit by Dudley an got my head injured, no before that...', As he continued his thought, an epiphany hit him, 'Shit! I was wishing for my life to become a video game. Is that what happened? My wish has been granted? Did this stone used my blood for granting my wish? Is my life a video game now?', Harry thought incredulously.
'Well only one way to find out', Harry quietly whispered, "Accept".
And as if in response the window closed, for a second, Harry thought all of what happened was just the figment of his imagination, then another window popped up and that too with a bell chime.

‘I knew I heard a bell chime’, Harry mused as he read the new notification. ‘How do I enter my name? Do I just simply say it in my mind?’
Seeing no response from the game system that he seemed to have acquired, so to speak, Harry simply decided to try it out.
‘My name is Hadrian Arcane Potter’, Harry intoned in his mind with as much aplomb as he could, choosing a name he had come up with when he got to play Dudley’s video game. The first part was a play on his own name and the second was from his desire to be a mage.

‘Great! It worked’, Harry internally cheered, but his joy was short leaved as something hit him on the back of his head.
Turning around, Harry spotted his bullies again and looking down, he spotted the food wrapper that most probably his cousin threw at his back.
‘How the heck did they slip past the guards?’, Harry internally cursed as he looked for a way out.
Then with another bell chime, a new notification popped up.

Seriously?', Harry screamed in his mind, the words inside the blue screen making his jaw drop. But instead of continuing to freak out, one of the new abilities he had acquired, [Gamer's Mind], started working, which calmed him down. Following which Harry simply whispered another “Accept”, resulting in the disappearance of the blue screen.
With that out of the way Harry quickly spotted his way out as he easily ducked out of his hunters’ encirclement. It was Polkis, the faster one among them, who created the way out for Harry as he dived to catch him ahead of his fellows, only for Harry to quickly move out of the way and use the opening to snuck out. Harry swiftly started running towards his group that have long since moved on while he was examining the notifications he obtained.
Harry expertly weaved through the masses and reached his group, his many years of avoiding the crowd and escaping his bullies in school corridors helped him in his endeavour. He moved further inside so that he was in the middle of the group of students so as to avoid any further altercation.
Reaching safety, Harry calmed down and was about to look around, when a bell chime alerted him, followed by the appearance of a new screen. Looking around and after making sure that no one noticed the abnormality, using the lack of attention anyone paid to him as proof, Harry took a deep breath and read through the message on the new screen.

Harry tried to touch the screen only for his hand to went through it, then he tried shifting his gaze, only for the screen to follow his line of sight. After struggling to close the screen, he annoyingly grumbled to himself, “Close, you, stupid screen”, and as if on cue, the screen closed.
Letting out a light breath and calming down further, Harry started his internal musings.
‘It seems I have acquired some sort of gaming powers? Well only one way to find out with absolute certainty'
Harry quietly whispered, "Stats", barely containing his excitement, so as to not attract any attention. He didn't need to as everyone was occupied by what was around them. As if validating his thoughts, a new screen appeared in front of him in response to his whispered word.

'It sure does look like it. Now let's see if the game mechanics is same as the one, I played in Dudley's game station'
Harry decided to start from the beginning as he continued studying his new found abilities, ‘Name, Title and Race should indicate the same, though I wonder what does the question mark in the Race means. Oh well let’s see them all’
Clicking on the ‘Name’ portion, of the Stats Menu, a new blue message box popped on top of the existing Menu, showing the details of what he selected.

Harry blushed at the seemingly sarcastic information. ‘I was just curious about if my name has permanently changed or not…stupid game system’, he grumbled half-heartedly. Looking closely, he found a close symbol on the top right corner of the message box, which he promptly used.
Quickly closing the embarrassing message box, he clicked on the ‘Race’ portion of the Stats Menu, once again a new blue message box popped on top of the existing Menu, showing the details of ‘Race’.

Race: Any living organism can be classified under any of the numerous races in existence. Some are unique and thus have special abilities that other races do not have.

*****************
STR: Strength improves melee damage, physical attacks. It is also a requirement in usage of various equipment.
Melee Attack = STR (+ Weapon Damage)
*****************
'Sweet', Harry thought, 'So the higher the STR attribute the stronger I get, just like in the game'. He then looked at the rest of the attributes one by one.

*****************
[Hidden Stat]: They are basically attributes that you can’t directly modify. They can only be gained through specific quests, actions or meeting some requirements. Very rarely some enchanted equipment provides help as well.
WIL: Willpower, shows how much drive you have to overcome any odds that you will come across. It is an essential Stat when facing hidden attacks of all types like psychic attacks, true mental attacks etc. It also shows how much immunity you have against mental status effects.
KAR: Karma, it shows how much karma you have accumulated. It is the only attribute that can have negative values. Good karma gives positive values while bad karma gives you negative values. Anything that you do will have an effect on you later along the road. Both good and bad karma have their own pros and cons.
*****************

‘All of this sounds good. But damn I have such low attributes’, Harry grumbled. ‘Forget it, I can grind them up slowly. This karma thing sounds really troublesome and confusing, I mean what makes my action good or bad? Who decides it?’
Harry shook himself out of the tangent his mind was going on and concentrated on the rest of the Stats.

*****************
Status: Throughout your life you can acquire and unveil any number of status effect both temporary (ex: poisoned, sleepy, etc.) and permanent ones. Some permanent effects can only be gained through genetics or magical gifts while others are obtained through specific actions or as rewards for completion of difficult tasks.
*****************
‘Does the question mark mean I have a status effect that is currently unknown?’, Harry sighed at all the information, but perked up quickly, knowing the fact that he wasn’t necessarily out of his element regarding the game mechanics.
While he had really played Dudley's game for a grand total of one time, he had a firm grasp on the basics of it and that was enough to figure out most of the mechanics of his current situation. Some functions needed further observation and testing, but he would cross that bridge when he gets there.
Harry then decided to see what all the remarks in brackets given along with his Stats data meant by selecting them.
*****************
[Malnutrition]: Being under fed and over worked has caused your body to be sub-par the norm. -50% to SP.
*****************

*****************
[Bound Core]: Your magical core has been bound by people unknown. Binding is currently being removed and upon its removal, magic used for forming the binding will be absorbed into the core. -50% to MP. Upon absorption, +500 to MP.
Time until removal: 240 days 12 hours
*****************
‘Well that sucks. Then again, I will get an additional 500 MP when I reach 10 years of age, which isn’t too far. Guess it is actually good. Wait does that mean my parents where mages?’
While Harry was upset at the attribute reduction and jubilation at the extra MP acquirement later down the line, he quickly latched on to the important information from the details the game system showed.
‘Wait why did these unknown people bind my core? And is this why Uncle Vernon keeps calling me a Freak?’, Harry shook his head in confusion, throwing it to the back of his mind to revisit it again. Looking at the next info box made Harry to once again blush, this time though in shame.

*****************
[Unkept]: Due to poor dressing style and submissive posture, -50% to CHA
*****************
‘Improve, I will improve’, Harry slowly chanted to motivate himself.
It was then that he noticed an arrow mark on the bottom left corner of the Stats Menu, curious at what it does, Harry lightly poked on the symbol, while he nervously looked around him to see if anyone was watching him doing weird gestures in the air. The menu suddenly changed to show new information;

‘It feels kind of like switching to the next page in the menu’, Harry remarked. This time around, instead of saying it out or physically selecting like he did previously, he mentally said the word 'Perks' and sure enough another blue screen popped up. 'So, I don't have to say it out loud after all. That's good'

'Awesome, so Gamer's Mind is what's keeping me from being freaked out by all this', Harry realized and suddenly a bell chime echoed, followed by a new window popping up.
Ding!
*****************
For arriving at a logical conclusion through facts observed, you have gained +1 INT!
*****************
'Wait! Really? I can increase my attributes like that?', Harry quickly moved back to the first page of the Stats Menu, looked at the screen and there it was. His INT attribute has definitely increased by 1.
Closing the message box as well as the whole Menu, Harry thought, 'Let's check out and make sure that I can access the menu just by saying it in my mind.' and said 'Stats' in his mind as he wanted to confirm his earlier observation of accessing the game functions via thought. Sure, enough the Stats window appeared, but another window appeared before it.
Ding!
*****************
For arriving at a logical conclusion through facts observed and verifying it through experiment, you have gained +1 INT!
*****************
'Double awesome', Harry quickly closed it and looked at his stats to see the double increase in INT, the sight of which brought joy to him.

Harry grinned looking at his stats window, as his INT has indeed increased by another 1. He only just started and already grinded 2 points in INT. Looking at the rest of his attributes, a slight frown made its way onto his face, but quickly faded away as while his attribute stats were low, it will only stay that way for now, since he could grind for more. Besides he wanted to gain power by himself just like how it was when he played Dudley's video games.
Instead of pressing the arrow symbol again to access the next page, Harry simply thought ‘Next’ and it worked as he continued his observation of the game system.

*****************
Influence: This shows how much influence you have with each faction. The more influence you have the more important you are to the faction, more receptive of your words they will be and more resources you can access from them.
*****************

*****************
Legend: More legend points means more renown, and more easily you can mingle, attach and approach new people, faction and situation. High legend ratting can give you unexpected surprises.
*****************
‘Zero influence, and zero legend rating, hmm…I wonder how I can obtain them? This is getting more and more mysterious and complicated. Equipment is self-explanatory so no need to check that one’, Harry concluded his peruse of various game mechanics.
Closing the Stats window again, he thought, 'All the skills I have are passive, I wonder what’s the difference between an active and passive skill is? Now let's see if this new power has given me one of the most amazing and versatile ability of all, just like in the games. If it does, it will be one of my best trump cards that can be used in any situation. And considering the entire game scenario there is more of a chance for it as well.', with that Harry mentally said, 'Inventory', barely holding his excitement. And to his delight another screen opened.

*****************
Inventory: The pocket space with infinite capacity. You can store all and any of your equipment/items in here - books, weapons, food, clothes, etc. To put items into the inventory simply open it and drop the item into the inventory box. To pull things out of inventory just open inventory box and pull the item out. The inventory is a stasis pocket space, meaning anything put inside will be preserved as long as it stays there. You can’t store living things in the inventory, unless they are quest items.
*****************
'Yes, this is super cool and OP as hell', Harry's grin grew wider as he thought, 'Now I have a safe storage that no one but me can access'
And so, Harry began to put the measly items that he had in his possession, those which he considered priceless to him, in to the inventory and watched as it was stored away. Feeling more safe and secure, Harry decided to thoroughly go through his gamer ability. Before doing it, Harry once again made sure that his fellow classmates and teacher were not looking at him, and to see if they have found himself staring into space or something.
As he continued to watch, Harry saw Silvy Surge, who was walking just in front of him, about to trip. With his natural reflexes, he quickly grabbed her, preventing her fall. After she got herself steady, Harry let go of the girl. The grateful girl, Silvy, turned to him and was pensive for a moment.
"Thank you", she spoke hesitantly, but in a polite tone.
"No problem", Harry replied with a smile. With a nod she turned around to listen to the guide while Harry was staring at the new window that appeared.

Skill Created!
*****************
[Socializing (Lvl 1)]
Socializing - Passive: This is your ability to become Emo or Hero.
+1 to CHA
*****************
Harry closed the window, then remembered the negative buff on his CHA attribute and realized that there are negative effects like in game as well. He gazed back at Silvy Surge and realized why she was pensive and didn't even smile at him. He really needed to change that, actually he had a lot to do. Just then another window appeared with its customary bell chime.
Ding!
*****************
Skill Created!
*****************
[Observe (Lvl 1)]
Observe - Active: By observing a target, one gets information about said target. Name, HP, SP and MP
Cost: 1 MP
*****************
‘An active skill! Wait it cost me 1 MP to use it, ah…so that’s the difference between those two types. An active skill needs MP to be used, hmm maybe some requires SP and who knows there could be skills that require both. First let me see how the skill works’, Harry put his new skill to use quickly. Looking at Silvy, he thought, ‘Observe’
*****************
Silvia Surge - Elementary Student - Lvl 2
HP: 30/30
SP: 25/25
MP: N/A
*****************
As soon as he used the skill, Harry felt a slight tug inside his body, then he could sense something being drawn, instinctively he knew that he used up his MP for activating the skill.
'With only 20 MP, I can only use [Observe] on 20 targets, after that I have to wait for another 10 minutes for my MP to fill up again to use one. Even then this skill is amazing and if I can gather more information about a person that I haven’t even met let alone talked to or better yet I can see info on anything around me, then the possibilities are endless.'
With that thought in mind, Harry started observing everyone and everything around him to check his theory along with gathering info on other people, that were not part of the school, around him. His targets ranged from his fellow schoolmates to random people to find out if there was any difference between the two sets as well as from the exhibition items to the random dumpster around him.

*****************
Harry was exhilarated at the reward he got for experimenting with the new skill. With the excitement of getting another INT attribute point, he renewed his efforts with a passion, the ten-minute delay barely slowing him. By the time the tour came to an end, to his surprise, he was able to level up the [Observe] skill by 1.
Ding!
*****************
[Observe]'s Level has risen!
*****************
[Observe (Lvl 2)]
Observe - Active: By observing a target, one gets information about said target. Name, HP, SP, MP and basic info.
Cost: 1 MP
*****************
Harry decided to see what his levelled up observe skill can do now by using [Observe] on Silvia again;
*****************
Silvia Surge - Elementary Student - Lvl 2
HP: 30/30
SP: 25/25
MP: N/A
[Silvy Surge is in your class. She likes to study a lot. She loves science and mathematics and wants to become a scientist.]
*****************
'Ok let's put all that I learned together. I am now the main character of a game, which is my life. The game mechanics are almost similar to the games I watched Dudley play and the one I played, but not everything is the same. There are positive and negative effects to everything around me and what I do. And most importantly, I can definitely grind my skills and attributes'

Smiling, Harry closed the window and started making a mental list of what to do as he went back to his relatives, along with the other students, since the excursion has come to an end.
‘This has been the best day of my life and because of today every other day from now on will be one as well’, Harry smiled looking at the sunset through the window of the bus, and continued his pondering of today’s event, 'My days of suffering is at an end now. From this moment on it is a new life, one where I am the main character'
Sliding back into the seat, Harry made himself comfortable as he quickly embraced the sweet calmness that notion induced in him. As the excitement and exhaustion of the day finally caught up to him, he joined his fellow students in taking a short slumber for the rest of the journey.

With all the excitement of getting his new power and all, Harry forgot all about the ancient stone tablet that gave him his new powers. If anyone looked over the place where the stone was put on display, they wouldn’t have noticed anything and Harry would have been surprised to see people walking through the display as if it was never there in the first place.
Now though after the light show it caused, courtesy of Harry’s accidental magic, there was nothing left in its place for real this time. The school bus containing Harry slowly moved away from the museum leaving behind a mystery that none at present were aware off.

Miles away
A pair of shimmering blue eyes opened in surprise.
“It appears there is a change in the workings of the world. I wonder…”, a soft voice trailed off barely in a murmur and the eyes closed in content.

That’s a wrap, how is it? Is the new game system bad, cringy or outright bullshit? How about my new writing style, is it bad? Is it worse?
Please review, as I would definitely take your opinions and will try to polish the rough edges.
