Litzy knew she shouldn't feel the way she did considering she had spoken with such confidence before leaving. Once again, when they'd arrived at the airport, Davey had tried to convince her not to go. She was just trying to do the practical thing, which is why she resisted the cute puppy dog eyes and the sweet kisses. But now that she'd been home for a few hours she just wanted to curl up into a ball and cry. She'd always missed him after a visit with him and the boys, but never like this. Never to the point where she couldn't think of anything else. But still, that next morning she drug herself to work and informed her boss that she was giving her notice. When Melinda heard those words she dropped her morning bagel.

"What? Did the competition lure you away? I'll give you a raise. Whatever they're offering, I'll match it."
"No, Melinda, it's not that," she smiled. "I'm getting married. My fiance is from California. I'm moving there in two weeks."
"TWO WEEKS?!"
"I know. I don't even know how I'm gonna get all my stuff packed or stored or how I'm gonna get it there. I just haven't had time to think about it."
"This can't be happening," she said, horrified. "Litzy, you can't leave. You're one of our best."
"Thank you."
"Thank me by staying! Can't the fiance move here? I mean, this is your career we're talking about!"
"No, he can't. His family is there..."
"Well, what about your family?"
"I have a sister in South Carolina, but my parents died when I was 20."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
She nodded her thanks and quickly changed the subject. "There's one more piece of news. We're having a baby."
"I knew it," she said. "Well I suppose you'll be wanting to take time off from work soon anyway to be with your baby. I just hate to lose you, Litzy."
"I hate to go."
"Well we'll get by here somehow, I suppose. But I'm happy for you. I'm glad you won't be alone anymore."
She gave a little smile and headed to her desk to start her day.

'Hm, that was an odd comment. I wasn't alone,' she thought, as she sat down. 'Was I?'

She thought about it and she had some friends, but it was true that for a long time - a lot of the time - she'd felt really alone. She had her sister Kimberly, but Kimmie had her own family. Her husband and four kids that kept her far too busy to worry too much about little sister's problems. She'd just learned to deal with things herself and not really turn to anyone for help or support or expect anyone to notice or care. She'd come to accept that as the norm. And even though she and Davey had always been close friends, she'd never gone to him about her problems. She'd opened up about things, some hard and painful things. But she'd never called him when she was in need. Now that they were going to be married, she was going to have to learn to include him in those parts of her life and see her at those times when she wasn't at her best. It was frightening, but on the other hand exciting because she was finally going to have someone in her corner.

After work she made her customary stop at the Virgin Megastore just to see what new merch they had. As she was walking the rows she saw some very familiar hair. White blond hair sticking straight up. It was none other than Jonny from Kill Hannah. She found it odd that they were blowing up now, but at the same time could still walk around their hometown in peace. She noticed that Mat, their lead singer, was with them. She recognized him from his wild mess of brown hair. She wanted to go say hi, considering she'd been a big Kill Hannah supporter for years and she loved them to death, but...they always treated her like 'Fangirl.' A dorky Fangirl. And she always found it really difficult to talk to them. She figured that was because their lives were so different she didnt have anything of interest to say to them. She decided to go upstairs instead. She looked around, considered buying some things, but as usual talked herself out of it. So she headed back downstairs. As soon as she got off the escalator she heard someone call.

"Hey!"
She turned to see Mat and Jon.
"Hey guys," she said, with a big smile. She hugged them both. They always hugged their fans.
"I saw you on MTV," Jon said.
"Oh," she blushed. "Yeah. First time being interviewed. It was rough."
"It gets better," Mat said. "Pretty soon you start having your fun with them, not the other way around."
She giggled, not having thought of that.
"So how are things with you?" Mat asked.
"Good, good. Just busy because of the wedding. I'm moving to California in two weeks so we can start planning."
"That's awesome, congratulations."
"Thank you."
"Davey's a cool guy. We met him once at a radio Christmas show," Jon said.
"Sweet," she said. "Yeah, he's definitely the best."
"Listen, we gotta hang out sometime. Why don't we exchange numbers?" Mat asked.
"Sure," she said, taking out her phone as they all updated their contact list with one new number.
"We were heading out but wanted to stop and say hi, so we've gotta roll," Jon said.
"Yeah me, too, actually."
"Keep in touch," Mat said, pointing a finger at her.
"Absolutely," she said.

Watching them leave she wondered if that was the way it was. Her first interaction with them where she wasn't left feeling like a total dweeb. It was obvious that cool people only liked you if people cooler than them liked you first. It was just like high school all over again. She could only shake her head.

Her phone rang.

"Hello?"
"Hello may I speak with Mrs. Marchand?"
"Speaking," she said, finding it strange that they were calling her that already.
"This is Eric from J&J Moving Co., we just wanted to set up an appointment."
"To do what?" she asked, slightly lost.
"Get your stuff packed and moved?" he asked, like he didn't get why she wasn't following along. "Your husband said you had some things that needed to go to storage, too."
"Wow. He called you?"
"Yes, ma'am. We can help you with whatever you need. Just tell us the date and time."

She couldn't believe that with everything he had to do and the crazy tension with the band, he still had time to worry about when and how her stuff was going to get there.

'How sweet. I totally miss him,' she thought. Valentine's day was that weekend and it seemed so wrong to be spending it without her fiance, but he had a show to do that night. She sighed.

"Ma'am? Are you there?" Eric asked.
"Yeah, I'm here. Let me check my schedule and call you back in about an hour?"
"Sure thing."

She was obviously asleep when he called her. Which made him feel a little guilty. He was on the tourbus playing a game with the only person who wasn't being a total dick lately - Adam. He just really needed to hear her voice, suddenly. So he called.

"Hi gorgeous," she answered, her voice all raspy. "Where are you?"
He took a look around. "The middle of nowhere. Hey, Litzy, what day is Valentine's Day?"
"Huh?"
"On what day does the holiday occur?"
"Uh....February 14th? Have you been drinking?"
"No, I have not been drinking," he laughed. "And you are wrong, Valentine's Day is NOT on February 14th. It is, in fact, on February 13th."
"No, it's not."
"Yes it is."
"Is not."
"Is too."
"Is not."
"Oh yes, it is. This year, for us, it is."
She gasped, finally getting it.
"I'm going to see you on the 13th?" she asked, hopefully.
"Yes. I'm coming to Chicago and taking you on a Valentine's Day date."
"Really?"
"Truly."
"Aww. You're so sweet."
"I'm sorry I can't be with you on the 14th, but we can celebrate the day before, right?"
"Absolutely," she said. "I miss you. So much."
"I miss you, too, Sweet Pea. But just hold on for me a few more days. Can you do that?"
"Barely," she said, dramatically. He smiled.
"Go back to sleep. I love you."
"I love you, too."

When he hung up Adam was staring at him, looking confused.
"What?" Davey asked.
"I guess it's just that for the longest time you two were like two girlfriends. Now you're getting married and you've got pet names for each other. How did all of this happen, anyway?"
"I dont know," Davey said. "I've always loved her on a platonic level, but it just turned into a different kind of love."
"How does that happen?" he asked, unconvinced.
"I guess when I realized that the person I'd been looking for all this time was right under my nose, but just happened to come in the form of a girl."
"Hm," he said. "I wonder if mine comes in the form of a girl...."
"What if it did?"
"I guess I'd go with it. I mean, there's no right or wrong here. Which is why I don't understand why Jade is taking this so personally."
"I don't know. Jade used to be the first person to go to bat for me. Now...I don't know."
"Everyone's in shock right now. It'll blow over."
"I hope you're right."

Things hadn't been pretty the last few days. The fans were absolutely miserable. Some were terribly upset that Davey was with a woman, some were terribly upset that he was marrying anyone at all - male or female - and some just thought he was a total fake who had pretended to be gay all along. Some people were saying that he didnt really love Litzy, she was just some woman he was using to dispel the gay rumors that had always surrounded him. The AFI fanclub, The Despair Faction, was in more despair than usual over the situation. Everyone said that Litzy was slutty-looking (based off of her dress at the awards) and that she was all wrong for him. Magazines and radio stations were calling nonstop for interviews. Nobody knew she was pregnant, though, so at least they werent talking about that. He was sure he didn't want to hear what they'd say about that.

Then there was the other issue. Tyler.

Fortunately, Jade was allowing Tyler to stay at his house after his discharge from the hospital, and had hired staff to care for him. Davey was grateful for that. He wanted to be there for Tyler, but it was just so obvious to him that Litzy needed him more right now. He had to make sure that she and the baby were stable, comfortable and happy. Which was why he called the movers. He didn't want her to stress about it, and he knew she would. This way, they would get her things to CA and all she'd have to do is take a flight on her last day of work, and go home where he would already be waiting for her. He hadn't told her, but he was going to get her a dog, too. He knew she loved dogs. He just wanted her to really feel at home with him from the beginning. He worried about her because he knew she didn't really have family. She never mentioned to him how much that hurt, but he knew it did. It had to. He didn't want her to be alone in Chicago for any longer than necessary, and especially not on Valentine's Day. But fortunately, he had figured a way around that. And he knew exactly where he was taking her.
