Chapter 9
A/N: Editor: The Resident

Moody cracked a smile. "There is a reason why I never married, sonny. I had a fiancée many years ago, I had a situation which was potentially much worse," he said gloomily. "She became pregnant. She took her father and her brothers and was on her way to confront me. Thank Merlin for my father, because he gave me one piece of advice. He said 'Run!' And I did!

For many years her father and brothers were hunting me, and in that time I decided to hide myself in the muggle world. I met my friend Jonathan Bester, and we decided together to join the British army corps. That was right one month before the First World War started. We did our part, I lost some limbs and an eye, and only I came out of the war as survivor. My mate died in front of my eyes.

When I returned to England, who did I see? That's right, my fiancée with a child on her arm. She looked at me. 'You lost limbs!' she said accusingly. She turned and I never saw her again."

He looked pensive for a moment. "I will never understand women," he grunted.

"That might be potentially dangerous," Hiphook said. Your child might claim things from you as an adult," he said. "In that case, for a fee you might always come to visit me," he said with a grin. "I 'feel' that there is some interesting plot working here." He grinned in anticipation.

"What does that have to do with Hermione?" Harry asked puzzled.

"Well, sonny. You might run, and join the army, like what I did," Moody said, grinning. "You always can join their army, and no one can find you there, not even Hermione. They all look like each other with their funny uniforms."

Professor McGonagall huffed. "What a bull story, Alastor. Harry, don't run - confront your problems and deal with them."

"That is easy to say, Professor. There is a brown-coloured piece of destructive energy on her way to eat me raw," Harry said shuddering. "She is going to eat me in one big piece, swallow me and that will be the end of the Potter's line." Harry swallowed and looked unhappy.

"If it helps, Harry, I can stay here and see what I can do to support you," Professor McGonagall offered.

Harry smiled, somewhat relieved. "That might help indeed, thank you Professor. It's much appreciated. Maybe you all want to stay for lunch?" he asked.

Everyone agreed.

________________________________________

After lunch everyone strolled at ease through the castle, while Harry was working out the last details about the war fund- and study funds.

Gidi popped in front of him out of nowhere.

"Master, Madam Bones and Ms. Bones have arrived. They are waiting for you in the third foyer," she said.

"Harry looked confused. "Third foyer?"

"Yes Master, I will bring you to the third foyer when you say so," she said.

"Okay Gidi, there are more guests arriving shortly, bring them to the third foyer as well when they do arrive, will you?"

"Yes Master," she said, bowing and plopped away.

Suddenly Harry was remembering Hermione. "Oh man, when she wills see how the elves are reacting, she'll have my hide!" Harry grimaced.

"Is there a problem, my Lord?" Hiphook asked.

"No, Hiphook. No problems at all. It is quite spiffy as it is," he said mordantly.

"Spiffy, my Lord?" Hiphook asked bewildered.

Gidi popped again in existence in front of Harry.

"A certain Mr. and Mrs. Granger have arrived with their daughter Ms. Granger," Gidi said with a shrill voice. "They are somewhat... emotional," Gidi said hesitating.

"What do you mean, Gidi?" Harry asked anxiously, excepting the worst.

"The daughter, Ms. Granger, is radiating a certain amount of magical energy; she is very upset about something. When I mentioned your name, the magical energy she was radiating was peaking considerably," she answered still impressed.

"Oh Merlin," Harry said dreadfully.

Gidi popped away quickly.

Moody and Professor McGonagall entered the foyer, laughing together and discussing the DADA position at Hogwarts. When they saw the distressed Harry, the halted their discussions and looked at him worried.

"What is wrong, Harry?" Professor McGonagall asked.

"They have arrived," Harry said. "And she sounds very upset with me!"

Moody cracked a laugh. "Maybe this castle has somewhere a backdoor where you can escape, sonny. It is still not too late. If you want, I keep them busy for some time, while you make it to the forest." he said with a grin. "I'll watch your back!" he said and cracked a horrible laugh.

Harry looked at Moody. Maybe he could let the Grangers and the Bones come to this foyer. At least Hermione might feel hesitant to kill him right away when she would see him.

"Hiphook, can you stay with me for a while, please?" Harry asked.

"Of cause, my Lord, I would not miss this for anything," he said with a grin.

"Gidi"

Gidi plopped into existence again. "Yes Master?"

"Can you be so friendly to bring all of our guests to the foyer, please?" Harry asked.

"Yes Master, right away."

After Gidi disappeared, Ginny and Pansy appeared from the bedroom. "I believe that you need us," Ginny said with an amused expression on her face. When Hermione is going to attack, we will protect you, oh Master," she said mockingly.

Pansy snorted.

"What is so funny?" Harry asked looking at the girls irritated.

"What is so funny?" Pansy asked with a laugh. "You are funny," she snorted and started to laugh even more.

Harry huffed and took one of the chairs and sat on it. "Thanks for the support."

The door opened and Gidi wiggling in, closely followed by three adult, Hermione and Susan. They stared in wonder at the paintings, statues and the glass roof of the foyer, until Hermione saw him.

"Harry James Potter", she shrieked. "What have you done to me?"

Harry winced. Here is doomsday, he thought.

"Is that all, Master?" Gidi asked worried with a little voice.

Harry looked absentmindedly at the little elf.

"Yes, Gidi, that is all." Harry answered immediately. Gidi popped quickly away, looking scared over her shoulder at the fast approaching Hermione.

"Master?" shrieked fast approaching Hermione. "Slaves as well, Harry? How could you?"

Moody grimaced, even Professor McGonagall looked nervous, and while Hiphook looked amused, Bersak was taking his sword out and grabbing at his spear.

Harry stood up from his chair and prepared him self for the onslaught sure to come for him.

Hermione halted in front of Harry. "How could you do this to me!" she shrieked, her face was only several centimetres away from Harry's, her spit was making his cheeks wet. Hermione's magic was flaring up in enormous waves.

"Married to you! I don't even like you! What are you thinking! How in hell do you think I let you be in one piece! You are a distorted little man!"

Hermione's magic became violent, pieces of plants started to fall from the roof, the glass roof started to burst.

"I thought that I know you, Harry James Potter, but you proof to be nothing else then an oversexed infidel, collecting women like a piece of furniture for your non-monogamous-collection. You can't play Sultan over a harem, especially not with me," she screamed.

Harry winced.

"Before you manage to force me to be married with you, I'm going to make you a Eunuch! Do you hear me, Harry James Potter?"

Harry swallowed, and nodded nervously.

Madam Bones and Susan were looking shocked at the tragedy, playing in front of their persons.

Hermione grabbed her wand and pointed it to Harry and she froze in mid-movement.

Between Harry and Hermione appeared a vicious looking Gidi.

"You will not harm Master," the little elf shrieked.

Hermione forgot her anger for a moment when she saw the little fierce elf standing between Harry and her. The little finger was pointed at Hermione and her ears lay flat on her little head. Hermione hesitated.

"The Master can't help that he is going to be married to all the Mistresses," the little elf shrieked.

Hermione looked flabbergasted to Gidi.

"Gidi is right," Harry said carefully. "That is what Dumbledore did to us."

"Dumbledore? What has he to do with this disgusting scheme?" Hermione said hotly.

"He placed the Mate charm on you after you were born," Harry said. "It becomes worse, he placed the Mate charm on all females from our year," he ended his defence.

Hermione looked shocked; she took a chair and sat down, looking in a daze.

"Dumbledore did this to me?" she said with a little.

"To me he did much more," bawled Harry. "Yes, he did. Ask Hiphook here," Harry said relieved, pointing to Hiphook, who winced immediately.

Moody and Professor McGonagall were busy to repair all the damage what Hermione's magic had caused.

Two adults were approaching Hermione and Harry. Harry assumed those people were Hermione's parents.

"You were lucky that this elf was interfering, Harry. I was planning to castrate you," Hermione said evenly.

"Thank you, Hermione. That would not be helpful in the long run," Harry replied dryly.

Hermione laughed hysterically. "You can say that!" She looked around her and she discovered an impressed looking Professor McGonagall.

"Well, Ms. Granger, who would think that you would give such a foreplay," Professor McGonagall said with a half-smile on her face. "That was one good piece of impressive wild-magic you displayed here."

"Foreplay, Professor McGonagall?" Hermione said confused.

"Yes of cause, Ms. Granger, when I met my late husband for the first time, I gave him also a piece of my mind, let me tell you," she said smiling. "The sparks flew everywhere." she giggled.

Harry's eyebrows went up and Hermione looked enthralled at her Professor.

"Professor McGonagall! What are you suggesting?" Hermione cried bewildered.

"That is the first sign of love," Professor McGonagall said with a mischievous smile.

Hermione and Harry became instantly red.

"What did you do then?" asked a curious Moody.

"I married him, of course, "answered Professor McGonagall. "It was an arranged marriage as well, similar as with Hermione. "In all those years I never regretted it," she said dreamily, her voice absentminded.

Hermione looked intently at the small elf.

"What is your name?" asked Hermione.

"Gidi, Mistress", answered Gidi.

"I am not your mistress," exclaimed Hermione.

"Yes, you are," answered Gidi.

"No, I'm not!" answered Hermione hotly.

"Hermione, get a grip," Harry said irritated. "We live in a society where these things are a reality, and there is nothing you can do about it."

"I can and I will!" shrieked Hermione.

"Oh yeah? Start trying. Cancelling our arranged marriage would be a nice thing to do," Harry said hotly.

Hermione looked at him furious.

"Don't start again, Hermione. I can't do anything about it. Moody here suggested that I run," he said. "That would mean that we would both be killed or worse," Harry said. "And don't forget that Susan, Métier Delacour, Hannah and Lavender will be in trouble as well."

"Are those your other wives, Mr. Potter?" asked the older man, who stood next to Hermione's chair.

Harry looked at the man, and he realized that he needed to introduce him self to the man.

Harry stood up and bowed slightly.

"My excuses Sir, may I introduce my self? My name is Harry James Potter, and I am the fiancée of your daughter," he said. "I assume you are the parents of Hermione?"

The man nodded.

"How do you do?" the man said. "My name is Matt Granger and this is my wife Ann Granger," he said, waving at his wife. Ann Granger gave had a tiny smile on her face when she was addressed by her husband and looked emotionally at her daughter.

"Are you alright, sweetheart?" she asked Hermione.

Hermione nodded, and smiled watery at her mother. "Yes mum, I'm alright."

Ann Granger turned her attention to Harry.

"Can you tell me what is going on?" she asked forcefully. "Why is it that a little boy like you, owns a huge castle like this, and orders little creatures around the way you do and why that creature is calling you master?"

Harry smiled. "Hermione has her curiosity from her mother, I see."

"I don't think this is funny, young man. Don't be evasive and answer my question." Ann Granger demanded.

"Mrs. Granger, this is a story I have already told for several times already, and here it is again. Two days ago, I was a poor little boy with hardly a penny in his pocket, being misused and mistreated by relatives and locked up for the summer. After several hours I was one of the richest people in the world, own many castles, manors, factories, companies, lands and Merlin knows what more, and I am suddenly engaged with several women, one of them is your daughter.

For many generations, my family at the Potter's side did know of all the problems the Heritance contained, and none of my family wanted to receive it. My parents died when I hardly was one year old, and after them nobody discussed or talked with me about the heritance and the family history. My parents never left me information or could tell me not to accept any inheritance.

When the time came, two days ago, Gringotts did their duty and sent me the missive that I need to report at Gringotts to receive my inheritance. I did not know better, and to the big surprise of Gringotts, I arrived.

When I arrived at Gringotts, I learned that my Godfather adopted me. But he was the last male from the Black family line, and that made me after his death the last living Black family member. That meant that I inherited everything.

But that was not all. In the magical world, every ancient family needs to have a patriarch. This patriarch is the Head of the Family. A patriarch is like the judge or the boss of the family, and his authority goes very far. He is able to marry, to divorce, to remove family members from the family and to restore them, and to adopt.

Furthermore, there are certain things what the Head of Family must do. When there is an external problem, which influences the family, the Head of Family is the person who handles the things.

With the inheritance of the family Black, I also became Head of House, and I was forced to act on several conflicts and breech of contracts. Because of that, I was forced to divorce the sisters Black and to take them back into the Black family, and to marry several women. One of them as a slave, the rest in the form of arranged marriages.

The same story was for the Potter's- and the Gryffindor- family."

Hiphook looked pointedly at Harry, but said nothing. What does the Goblin want from me?

Ann Granger looked flabbergasted.

Matt Granger looked thoughtfully at Harry. "I heard Hermione talking about all that, but I never really understood what it exactly was and what it truly meant to live under such old-fashioned rules."

Hiphook cleared his throat.

Harry smiled at the man... he understood what Hiphook wanted. "If you would excuse me, I think that there is first business to perform, and then we can sit and discuss the issues we have. "

"Madam Bones and Ms. Bones," Harry said formally, "welcome to Gryffindor castle."

Madam Bones looked a bit dishevelled, but nodded never the less. "Thank you, Lord Gryffindor," she said with a strong voice. Susan smiled hesitantly at Harry, and looked briefly at Hermione, slightly frowning.

"Please, take a seat," Harry asked the two women. "I believe we have business to discuss," he said.

"Thank you, my Lord," said Madam Bones, and she said down on the offered chair.

"I like to stand, Harry," Susan said with a weak smile. She looked at Hermione with a frown.

"I am sorry to say, Hermione. I thought that you were more intelligent then what you demonstrated here."

Hermione looked taken aback. "Excuse me?" she drawled in a frostily tone.

"You were summoned magically because you were chosen as a mate for Harry via a Mate Charm. You knew what it was, and you blamed Harry for Merlin's know what, while suggesting that he was the one who had chosen you. He had as much choice in the whole deal as you have, and you knew that. Instead of accepting it as you will accept, you decided to make a fool out of yourself with your revolting performance," said Susan with a rigid voice.

"Not only that," Susan continued, holding out her hand, "you will be part of Harry's harem, and you need to consider that a harem is not a group of women who are exchanging sexual activities with their master like you had suggested in your recital, but a group of intelligent wives, who will be part of the harem organization, and form a separate power block in the wizarding society."

Hermione looked shocked at Susan. She never expected to hear that from anyone and the least she expected Susan to say something like that!

With a half smile Susan continued, looking straight at Hermione.

"With your childish behaviour in front of us all, you demonstrated that you are too juvenile and too spoiled to play any dominating role in this harem."

She held out her left hand, where everyone could see the Gryffindor family chest imprinted in the palm of her hand and turned with a puff to Harry.

"Lord Gryffindor, I, Susan Amelia Annemarie Bones, is here together with my aunt, Baroness Amelia Bones, acting as Matriarch of the family Bones, to start the negotiations for the arranged marriage. We don't have a Head of Family to do the negotiations for us, so you have to negotiate with us," she said ceremoniously. She took the chair and sat down, expectantly looking at sore looking Harry.

Harry smiled slightly... looking briefly at Hiphook.

"Master Hiphook?" Harry asked. "If you would be so good...?"

Hiphook grinned and nodded. "Of cause, my Lord," he said. He took some papers from his robe and spread them on the table, sorting them.

"We have here a marriage contract between Lord Potter-Black-Gryffindor and Susan Amelia Annemarie Bones," Hiphook began, looking at Harry and Susan. He raised an eyebrow and looked pointedly at Madam Bones.

"Baroness?" he asked.

"Of course, "Madam Bones said apologizing.

"We are here to negotiate the terms of the contract," she said.

Hiphook nodded satisfied.

"This contract describes not many details, so I will ask the standard questions."

Hiphook turned to Harry.

"Are you willingly to pay ten thousand Galleons for Susan Amelia Annemarie Bones?" he asked Harry.

Harry looked questioningly at Madam Bones.

"Madam Bones?" he asked.

"Twenty five thousand Galleons and you need to pay for the costs for the wedding and the bride's treasure," she said.

"What is the bride's treasure?" Harry asked Madam Bones.

"That is her dress and all relevant things she need to be married," Madam Bones answered.

Harry frowned. "Does she not own something like that? I thought that the family Bones was a well established old pureblood family with a long history and a good name, and at least she might own something like that?"

"It is correct that the Bones are a well established old pureblood family with a long history and a good name, but there is a tradition in the Bones family which states that the bride's treasure must be bought new for every bride in the family. And a real bride's treasure where we are thinking about is expensive," she said.

Harry nodded.

"I don't have any problem with the price and the bride's treasure," he said.

Hiphook nodded and turned to Madam Bones.

"Lord Potter-Black-Gryffindor accepts Baroness," he said. "Is there something else?"

"Yes, there is," Madam Bones said slowly.

"He also need to accept the status as Head of Family for the family Bones," she said.

"Excuse me?" Harry asked with a flat voice. He had a bad feeling about this one.

Hiphook almost jumped on his chair. "That is right!" he exclaimed almost in ecstasy. "An additional Head of Family account!" he cried excitedly. "Bersak, get me the Bones file and all relevant files concerning their file, you know what I am speaking about."

Bersak nodded quickly, stood up, bowed to Harry and disappeared quickly from the foyer.

Madam Bones looked at Harry with almost pity.

Lord Gryffindor," she said. "I am truly sorry for this, but it is my duty as the current matriarch of the family Bones to transfer this duty to you, Sir. For too many generations there was no Head of Family in the family Bones. The last Head of Family was in 1508, his name was Edgar Bones and he died fighting a dark wizards. He had no sons, only daughters, and we always managed to keep our identity as Bones. We own a great deal of properties in the magical world, and we are seen as one of the richest families, which we are. We hold also a lot of political power in the Wizengamot with five votes, because the family Bones is the result of a merging of five families in 1867.

The Bones family does not want to be merged again, and that is the reason why we want that you take over the role of Head of the Bones family, and keeps the family name as it is. The first male child from Susan will be the official heir of the Bones family, "she ended her explanation.

The quietness was deafening again, nobody moved, and Harry had problems with breathing.

"What does that mean for me?" he asked softly.

"You will be the Patriarch of the family Bones, until you are too old. Susan's son will taker over his role as the new Patriarch of the Bones family," she said.

"And of cause you have collected a certain collection of family binding contracts?" Harry asked dryly.

"Yes, I'm afraid we have," Madam Bones said.

"Are there any arranged marriages?" Harry asked.

"Yes, there are," she answered.

"How many?" Harry asked.

"Three arranged marriages and three breaches of contracts," Madam Bones answered with an even voice.

"My default question is to Master Hiphook," Harry said, looking at Hiphook. "Is there a way to refuse all this?"

"No, my Lord, if you want to stay healthy and alive, there is no way that you can refuse this," he said very pleased looking.

Harry laughed bitterly and stared at Hermione. "Do you think that I am building an Imperial harem, Hermione?"

Hermione's eyes were red from crying and she shook her head slowly.

Bersak entered the foyer and hasted to his father, giving him a pile of parchment.

"Let's see," Hiphook said, while beaming at his stack of parchments.

"My Lord, you become Head of Family Bones, you need to take five seats in the Wizengamot, you receive the Royal title Baron, and we have family binding contracts numbers 101-Z, 144-A and 291-F, arranged marriage contracts number 777-U, 778-U and 1009-U, you must take control of investments in magical world and finally you need to take control of Vault 199, 5987 and 8704. That is all," he said.

"What are the family binding contracts," Harry asked wearily.

Hiphook looked in his papers and frowned.

"Those are all breech of contracts," he said. "Gringotts made decisions about them all. Let's see... aha! Here is contract 101-Z.

This is a breech of contract of the Branstone family. They made an agreement with the Bernstein family to give their daughter Eleanor to Arthur Bernstein, but she proofed to be barren. No children were born. Arthur Bernstein discovered that Eleanor Branstone had a magical accident when she was young and they failed to report this to the Bernstein family."

Hiphook grinned.

"Before you ask me what you have to do with the Bernstein family. Well, the Bernstein family is affiliated with the Bones family and is one of the five families who merged. This breech of contracted happened in 1889 and you are the Head of Family and you receive the fruit of their punishment," he grinned.

"Do I get an additional slave, Master Hiphook?" Harry said, sounding almost bored.

"You are quite right, my Lord. Their current daughter, Eleanor Branstone will be your personal slave. She carries the same name as her ancestor, by the way. How appropriate," he smiled.

"And of cause your notification is gone now," Harry said with an even voice.

"Yes my Lord," Hiphook smiled.

"Great!"

"The next one," Harry growled.

"That is family binding contract no. 144-A," said Hiphook. He was looking through his papers.

"That is a breach of contract concerning the Prewett family. There is only one surviving member left, and that is a certain Molly Prewett-Weasley. "
