G, despite containing Hisoka.
PATIENCE
by Mina Lightstar
The ace of spades.
Hisoka liked a challenge.
The seven of clubs.
It was no secret that powerful opponents thrilled him. Whenever he came across someone who was able to match his strength, his breath would start coming in short, hitched gasps. He would be able to feel his blood rippling through his veins, feel his muscles quivering with tension. He never feared the notion of facing someone of equal strength. Rather, he would often be forced to slow himself down, calm his nerves, and pace himself.
The Queen of Diamonds.
Hisoka licked his lips, his mind wandering to the subject of worthy opponents -- or rather, would-be worthy adversaries. Gon was still too young and inexperienced for a real duel. Hisoka would have to wait longer before he'd be able to entice the new Hunter to really do battle with him. But that was all right; Hisoka was nothing if not patient.
The eight of hearts.
Patience played a large role in Hisoka's hunt for strong adversaries. He had to wait for the right moment, the right circumstances, and the right atmosphere. In the end, it was usually worth it.
The three of spades.
He exercised that patience in many little ways. It wouldn't do for him to lose his touch, after all. Good things came to those who waited. Hisoka told himself that time and time again. Often, it was a trifle difficult to resist the urges that came over him, but he always prevailed. His time would come, he knew. He knew, and so he waited.
The six of diamonds, and all was ruined. The house of cards folded in on itself, tumbling to the floor with barely audible fluttering sounds.
Hisoka stared at his former masterpiece; once a mansion made of cards, now a pile for a game of "Go Fish." All that hard work, all that precision, all that time... gone.
And Hisoka stared for a long time, his mouth working, but body motionless. Then he sighed, resigned.
Patience was a virtue.
