Chapter 24:- No rest for the pure
**
A/N: Thanks Malehorntaildragon for your help.
**
Remus heard them approach before he even got a glimpse of them. He had been in the wood for a full day now and as yet he hadn't seen or heard anybody up until now. This didn't mean that they weren't there, he was certain at some point that he had been observed. But now as they approached, he looked into the fire and stirred the coals as he waited for this first contact with the pack bound to be the most dangerous.
He sniffed the air once trying to pick up the scent but failed to recognise anything yet his ears turned towards the perceived noise. Almost silently two figures broke cover from the surrounding woods. Remus studied the newcomers and saw that they were young not long out of school they looked unkempt yet appeared fit. He had hopped that the pack wasn't doing well for itself as this would make his job easier, but if these two were anything like the rest then he knew that the pack was not in the state the he had hoped for.
"So we have a visitor to our woods?" called the first man walking slowly towards Remus.
"Not a visitor." Replied Remus had he tried to look around to see if these two were alone.
"Oh you think your better then us?"
"No just the same."
The two men were very close now and Remus could see them clenching and unclenching their fists.
"You have no idea who we are." Said one of the men in a small menacing voice.
"Yes I do. I know exactly what you are."
"Then prove it!" shouted the second man as he jumped the small distance between them with his hands reaching out.
This was exactly what Remus had been expecting, he knew that while he was here he was going to have to fight, fight for his life and fight for the pack. As the man closed the distance, in a blink of an eye Remus rolled to one side and let the man fly past. He sprung to his feet and watched the man sprawled on the floor get to his feet. Remus closed the distance and bowled into the man. The sudden additional weight pushed the man back to the ground but this time Remus was on top of him. Remus's hand shot forward and grabbed the man's throat at the same time as he bearded his teeth and let a low growl come out.
"You are far too young a pup. Next time I'll tear out your throat."
The second man took a small step back, the pair had expected to easy torment but this man was like one of themselves.
Ignoring the man on the floor whose throat he was still holding Remus looked at the second man and asked.
"You have a message?"
"Um....no...."
"Well you had better take me to the pack. That's why I'm here I want to join."
The man on the ground tried to say something but Remus tightened his grip more causing the man to whimper in pain.
The second man just nodded and backed even further away but never tuning his back. Remus slowly released the youth and stood up. His blood was running fast through his veins and he could feel the beast within him trying to come out. He had taken his first step on the dark path, now all he had to do was follow it.

Harry looked around and saw the dawn creep across the room, but unlike yesterday he didn't move. He had spent the whole night once more cleaning. He had tried many times to sleep during the night but every time he closed his eyes he would wake mere minuets later in a cold sweet with the images of burning bodies or crushed limbs swimming in front of him. He looked at the morning light and then at himself. The shaking had started again last night and he was finding it even hard for him to stop it.
What was worse was his magic. During the darkest times in the night he had felt his magic slip away from himself. It brought back memories of when he was young, when he was just a normal boy. But from the first day that he had been told that he was a wizard he could feel it inside himself. It was like a living breathing beast it moved and reacted it grew and weakened but last night was the first time he had felt it disappear. The panic it had created rocked him and he started to realise that he might have made a mistake in coming to this house, alone.
Getting to his feet as he heard the stealthy approach of his house elf and waited for the door to slowly open.
"Mmmmorning sir." Softly spoke the House elf, it was as if the small creature could sense Harry distress and was fearful.
"Morning Dobby, how about a tour of the house, or at least the parts that are safe to do so."
Harry had been certain that during the night he had heard movement in the house that wasn't Dobby. He didn't know what it was but knowing this house it was likely to be dangerous.
"Ok sir, but don't you want breakfast?"
"No it's fine lets have a quick look and then I...I...may rest."
Dobby nodded and silently turned. He had tried to watch Harry all of last night and had seen that Harry could not sleep and spent most of it cleaning. He was now more than just worried, he could sense his master's distress and he was looking worse and worse, but as his house elf there was little he could do.
The two of them started on the ground floor they went from room to room. Harry was silent for most of it and Dobby tried to go as slow as possible. When they reached the main library Harry had stood and just looked and the walls that were lined with books. Dobby watched as Harry slowly walked round the room. The pair of them hadn't really attacked this room yet and so they were both cautious but Harry was a little curious at the titles. To Harry the words of Dumbledore came back to him, soon he would have to protect this place himself. He just hopped that somewhere in this room would be the spells that he required.
**
Gabrielle paid the taxi driver once more as she got out of the taxi. She had got here as early as possible but it was still later that she had hopped for. During the night she had been awakened by her connection as she felt Harry's magic slip slightly and she felt a sudden burst of emotions. As she settled into the same place as before she just hopped that today would be the day. Looking up and down the road she didn't see anything different from yesterday but she had the feeling that she was being watched but by whom?
**
Dobby instantly recognised the girl waiting outside the house. He knew that the house could not be seen by her and that his observations were not going to be seen but he felt unease at watching her. He had left Harry alone as he continued to look through the books but was worrying like crazy over him. He had finished tidying the kitchen and the drawing room but did not want to move on without Harry's orders. Peering into the library he saw that Harry was not here a small not of panic formed as he thought that he had misplaced his master. Concentrating hard on the house he tried to feel where Harry was.
Instantly he could sense that his master had returned to his bedroom. Scampering up the stairs he pushed open the door to look in and saw that Harry was curled into a chair reading a book. Breathing easier he closed the door and retuned to the kitchen, as he walked in the owl hooted once at him.
"I know, but what can I do?" he called up to the bird. He didn't understand the owl but it seemed like the right answer to the implied question.
Dobby wrung his hands as he tried to decide what he could do. Not seeing an easy solution he started to busy himself and hoped that someone would tell him what to do and soon.
**
Ginny looked round her room. After Gabrielle had left yesterday it had suddenly felt very empty. At first she had resented the young girl but now she missed her quiet presence. She alone knew where Harry was but couldn't do anything. She had almost spoken to her mum about Harry last night but stopped herself. She remembered Dumbledore's floo call which had told her mum about Harry's situation and that he wanted to be left alone. Both Hermione and Ron had argued with her mother but she had stood her ground she maintained that if Dumbledore said it was for the best then they had to stay away.
Everything inside of Ginny was telling her that Dumbledore was wrong, but not just wrong he was up to something. She had seen her brothers cook up a number of different schemes in their time and she got the same feeling now. Something was happening or was going to happen and it involved Harry.
Shaking off the feeling she looked at the pile of clothes in front of her. For all of the morning she had also felt restless something was tugging at her telling her that today was going to be the day. She didn't know why she knew it but she just did. Ever since then she had been looking through the pile of clothes and things. She knew that as soon as Gabrielle called her she would leave, nothing her mother would say would stop her if it came to it she would run away.
The sound of her door opening caused Ginny to spin round clearly feeling guilty. Hermione slowly walked in after a brief smile towards Ginny. Ginny's heart had raced at the noise of her door opening as she had thought about her mother it was thought she had been found out. The sight of Hermione calmed her slightly but she still felt a little lost.
"I haven't seen you all morning, you ok?"
"Um...yeah I'm fine." Replied Ginny still not fully understanding her friend.
She had expected that Hermione would have visited her last night as normal and try and get out of her what she and Gabrielle had been doing but no such visit had happened. Ginny's mind first thought of Ron and that he had managed to get Hermione alone but she knew this to be wrong.
Hermione looked at Ginny and then glanced around the room. Everything to her was in its place there was no books out no nothing, there was only Ginny standing by her bed holding a small pile of clothes.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm...um... sorting through some old clothes."
Hermione's eyes narrowed slightly at the answer. The pile of clothes that Ginny was holding was anything but old, quickly looking at Ginny's feet she saw the edge of a bag which was concealed under the bed. It didn't take a great brain to workout the exactly what was happening.
Hermione crossed the room and sat on the bed and indicated the space next to her which Ginny gingerly took still clutching her clothes.
"Ginny I know you. I can see the bag under your bed, you're packing."
Ginny shuffled slightly at these words and felt her cheeks get warm Hermione had guessed already and she had only just walked into the room.
"I...um..." she stammered not being able to think of an excuse that would stand up to Hermione.
"He's not going to be at the Cauldron. I told Gabrielle and I'm telling you he won't go there."
"I...I....Know."
Hermione looked closely at her friend trying to read the emotions on her face.
"You're going to run away after him aren't you?"
"No...no...I would never..." started Ginny but stopped as Hermione looked very closely at her.
"Yes you would. We both know that you would do anything for Harry, but running won't help him you know."
"I know but I'm not running away."
Hermione's mind started to calculate what was being said, something about how Ginny was acting seemed strange to her.
"If you are not going to run away why the sudden urge to pack?"
"I ...I...have too I don't want him to have to wait."
"Wait for what."
"Me."
"But why today, you heard Dumbledore and your Mother last night. He said that Harry want's to be alone all summer but when we all get back to school that will be the time for us to help him."
"No it'll be today." Whispered Ginny. She didn't know why she said it but it came from the heart she knew that today would be the day.
"What makes you say that?"
"I...I...can feel it."
Hermione knew she was close to the secret that Ginny had been hiding from her, the way she was fidgeting and looking off into the distance told her more was yet to come.
"But you don't know where he is...or do you?" asked Hermione her mind suddenly putting some of the pieces together for her.
"Um...ah..." stammered Ginny, she had been caught and she knew Hermione knew it too.
"Where is he?" demanded Hermione.
Ginny looked closely at Hermione and understood that her fantasy of running and being with Harry, alone, was not going to happen. Harry was going to need his friends near him as well. Hermione and Ron would have to be involved. However much she wanted to do this by herself they had to be there as well.
"Pack."
"Pack...pack what?"
"Pack, pack like me, be ready. Please don't ask! If Harry want's you to know he will tell you but please pack he's going to need his friends and soon."
Hermione felt herself being pushed off the bed and towards the door, Ginny's voice had a level of command in it. She wasn't used to the younger girl giving her orders but the tone in the voice tugged at something inside of her. Ginny honestly believed that today would be the day and for once Hermione believed her as well.
**
Dobby carefully climbed the stairs with the small try of soup. Harry still had not eaten since their arrival but he hopped the smell of the soup would encourage him to do so. He gently pushed open the door and looked at Harry. The tray complete with bowl and fresh bread tumbled unchecked to the floor as Dobby looked at Harry. He was still sitting curled in one of the chairs but his face was looking directly at him. Dobby could see the pale almost white skin on Harry's face, it had a glassy sheen to it and it was covered in sweet. The eyes stood out and they were surrounded by huge red circles. But Dobby could also now see the shaking, it wasn't violent but it was persistent the whole of Harry's body was shaking and it looked like Harry could do nothing about it.
Dobby crossed the room and squeaked.
"Master you're not well you must rest. I'll get help."
"No can't sleep he...he...will come."
"You must rest you body needs it."
"He...he... will take me. I'll lose this time."
"Master! Sir! Please." Cried Dobby trying to pull Harry towards the bed. He had seen something similar whilst working at Hogwarts with students that slept too little but Harry looked far worse than any of them. As he tried to pull Harry to his feet but felt the weight of his master fall fully on him as Harry collapsed.
"I can't Dobby... I'm...I'm scared."
Dobby was now almost in a blind panic, he had always thought of Harry as the greatest, the strongest, most gifted wizard, but looking at him he saw how frail he was as well. As his house elf it was his job to look after his master, to make sure he could do everything he could to assist him but had he already failed? Harry's face, his whole body was screaming help but he didn't know what he could do. Quickly looking round the room he spotted one of the blankets on the bed. Scampering quickly over to it he pulled it free and back to Harry. Quickly and efficiently he wrapped Harry in the blanket and made him as comfortable as he could but he could still feel Harry shaking
"Do you want Dobby to help you to bed sir?"
"NO!... Please just leave me here by the fire."
"But...but sir."
"I can't Dobby not the bed!" pleaded Harry remembering the last time he laid down in a soft bed.
Looking at the fire Dobby jumped across to it and started it roaring to bring even more warmth into the room and hopefully Harry. Once completed he bent low over Harry.
"Master...you...you stay here now. Dobby will get help."
"But he will come..." whispered Harry.
Dobby raced fro the room and down towards the kitchen, his master needed help but who could he get. Only one name sprung to his mind at that was Dumbledore. He rushed towards the fire and reached out for the floo powder. He just hopped that this grate was connected to the floo network.
Before he cast the powder down a single hoot filled the room. Dobby spun and saw the Hedwig was sitting in the centre of the table looking directly at Dobby.
"Master Harry needs help. He needs Dumbledore." Called out Dobby a little startled by the noise.
Dobby turned back towards the fire but another hoot stopped him.
"I'm getting Dumbledore he can help him, he must help him." Pleaded Dobby to the empty kitchen.
Hedwig hooted once more and leapt from the table, her wing brushed Dobby's hand causing the powder in his hand to fall to the floor. One of her talons griped the small pot at the same time and she took off for the top of the wardrobe.
Dobby cried in anguish as the powder fell to the floor and Hedwig took the rest.
"Please bring it back. Dobby is needing it to help Master Harry."
Hedwig hooted again at the elf but refused to move. Dobby jumped onto the table in an effort to get closer to the bird. Hedwig saw the elf come closer and sawed into the air hooting madly.
Dobby arms whirled uselessly as the owl passed over him and out into the hallway. He threw himself off the table and ran after the speeding bird. As he dashed along the length of the hall he saw the Hedwig had alighted atop of the hat stand next to the door. He skidded to a halt next to the front door and jumped up and tried to reach the pot of powder. Hedwig hooted again and leapt higher up the stand.
"I must get help for Harry. I need the powder! I must tell Dumbledore." he shouted.
A screech pierced through Dobby ears and he had to fling his hands over them to stop the pain. He slowly uncovered his ears and looked at the bird.
Hedwig hooted once and flew to the door and back.
"Yes I need to get help. I need Dumbledore." Cried Dobby now with tears streaming down his face.
Hedwig screeched again and once more flew to the door and back again.
"You...you...don't want me to get Dumbledore?"
Hedwig hooted once.
"But he needs help!"
Hedwig for the third time flew to the door and back again.
"You want me to go out there?"
A hoot.
Dobby thought for a moment. He knew that owls were intelligent but it was like something was controlling this bird, never in his years had he ever seen an owl act so strangely. Hedwig was determined not to let him get Dumbledore all it seemed to want to do was for him to go outside...outside?
The only thing outside that he knew about was that young girl, Gabrielle. But what could she do?
Hedwig flew to the door once more.
"You want me to get the girl don't you?"
A single hoot but this time it wasn't loud or painful it was almost soothing.
"I'll get her then." Replied Dobby wondering why he was taking orders from a bird.
**
Gabrielle shivered slightly as a small breeze whipped at her hair. She turned to look for the source of the wind and saw the odd scrap of paper roll down the pavement towards herself. The day was warm but something inside of he told her that everything had just changed. As she looked back to the house she was startled to see two huge eyes looking straight at her. She tried to scramble backwards away from these eyes as her heart and mind both raced off in different directions.
The cold hard wall she had been sitting against didn't yield to her movements but it gave he mind enough time to register what she was looking at. As she continued to try and move away from the eyes her mind catalogued everything that she was seeing. She had seen house elf's before in fact he family owned a number them but seeing this one so close and in the middle of a muggle street had definitely caused her panic. She started to look the house elf over and saw that he was also hopping from foot to foot and was wringing his hands as though he was scared and frightened.
"Um...hello." Gabrielle ventured.
Dobby looked at the girl as she had tried to move away. He could quiet clearly remember her from the Tri-Wizard tournament but what was she doing her? But the only thing that mattered at the moment was Harry and Hedwig thought that this person could help.
"Um...are...you..."
"I'm Gabrielle." Said Gabrielle holding out her hand.
"Oh ...to...be offered a hand. A witch offering Dobby her hand just like the great Harry Potter."
"You know Harry."
"Um...yes...I'm his elf, Dobby."
Gabrielle became at once suspicious, Harry had never mentioned the elf in any of their lessons and she was certain that she would have spotted at least evidence of one at the Dursley's. But the name struck something, she suddenly remembered the conversation under the tree with Harry and Ginny, in it they spoke of a House elf named Dobby.
"But Harry doesn't own an elf?"
"He does miss he bought me from Hogwarts but Dobby is needing you miss, Dobby need's you to come with me."
Dobby reached out his hand but Gabrielle stepped away.
"No I can't leave."
"But miss pleeeeeeeeeas Master Harry's needs help and Hedwig won't give Dobby the floo powder."
"What Harry needs help?" She had been surprised that she didn't know this already but reasoned that Harry must still be trying to protect everyone from his emotions.
"Yes miss pleeeeeeease. Harry Potter can't sleep or rest it's not good for him." Begged Dobby looking at Gabrielle with tears forming in his eyes.
"Where is he?"
"In his house miss."
"But I can't see it."
"Dobby can take you there. Dobby is allowed too."
Gabrielle realised that she was going to have to trust this gushing elf. Her magic was telling her that Dobby emotions were not false and so she did something that virtually anybody else would have said was foolish she held out her arm for the elf to grasp. A small bony hand gently grasped her arm and then leaving a small breezes behind the pair disappeared.
**
Gabrielle never felt the sensation of movement as she reappeared into a dark wide hallway. The gloom did little to hide the size of the house and she realised that wherever she was it wasn't a small place. A small hoot behind her caused her to turn and look at a very large hat stand which seemed to be carved of intertwined snakes. Atop it was the brilliant white owl that she instantly recognized as Hedwig. As a smile of relief broke over her face the bird took flight and landed gently on her out stretched arm.
"Hello girl, it's good to see you."
The owl hooted once before flying off down the corridor and into the open room at the end. Gabrielle made to follow the bird but was stopped by the tugging on her elbow of Dobby.
"Miss, Harry is upstairs he needs help."
Gabrielle nodded and dropped he bag she followed Dobby as he rushed up the stairs. Her mind registered the fact that lining the stairs were mummified House elf heads and every where she looked was dark, dirty and dangerous.
As she rushed along the first floor towards the nearest door she saw that this corridor did look at the very least a bit better than what she had seen so far. Dobby was waiting outside the door clearly looking scared. Gabrielle braced herself and slowly pushed open the door. The sight she saw made her whole world stop. It was though her very existence had been taken from her in an instant as she looked at the form what was Harry she didn't understand what had caused this to happen. Not caring about anything or the consequences she rushed across the large room oblivious the tears freely flowing down her face.
"Harry what's happened to you." She cried as she ran. She could feel her magic and emotions fighting to get close to Harry and dropped to her knees next to the curled form.
"What...what..." croaked Harry.
"Hush now, don't speak." Cooed Gabrielle reaching out her hand to touch Harry's head. She saw him recall backwards from he hand.
"It's not safe, I'm not safe..." he breathed
"Harry listen you need help I'm going to get it no arguments."
"No it's my house you can't, not them...I...I...can't see them..."
"Harry they can help. Please." She asked
Harry would never be able to refuse the girl if she asked at this time was no different.
"I'm so scared about sleeping."
Gabrielle bent forward and gently laid a kiss on Harry head exactly like the one he had given her.
"Rest, when I return you will be able to sleep."
"Can't sleep." Breathed Harry and he closed his eyes once more.
Gabrielle got to her feet and walked to the door every step was hurting her inside but she knew that she need Ginny's help. She had felt and sensed Harry's magic what little magic she had within herself would never be able to help Harry he need to be kept safe to feel safe but her magic would never feel like that to Harry.
"Dobby I need to get Ginny, she's at the Burrows, will you help me get there?"
"Will it help master Harry?"
"Oh yes he will be able to sleep then."
Dobby raised his hand once more and grasped Gabrielle's arm. She looked at the top of Harry's head as he lay still shaking in front of the fire.
"I won't be long...my love." She whispered to herself as the room started to disappear.
**
Gabrielle saw the familiar lane stretch towards the Wesley's house in front of her. Once more she didn't feel the sensation of travelling but knew that it had taken longer this time. Dobby was still holding her arm and as she glanced down she could see that he was nervous. Knowing that she didn't want Harry to wait much longer she sprinted down the lane to the house. When she reached the door she knocked loudly and waited.
Ginny looked up from her book at the sound of the door. The house very rarely received visitors and especially at this time of the day. She was about to get to her feet when her mum walked into the room.
"It's alright I'll get it." Called Molly walking straight to the door but taking her wand out at the same time.
"Who is it?" called Molly as she stood behind the door.
"It's me Gabrielle."
At the sound of Gabrielle's name Ginny leapt to her feet. Her insides were singing to her there could be only one reason for the girls reappearance at the house and that was to come and get her. Molly pulled open the door and saw the young girl standing before her accompanied by a House elf.
"Hello dear, is everything alright?"
"Mrs Weasley Harry needs help."
"What."
"Harry's ill and he need help."
"But Dumbledore said...how do you know where..."
"Please Mrs Weasley he...he...needs help. Ginny can help him I need to take her to him."
"Where!"
"He's at Grimmauld Place." Called Ginny walking towards the conversation.
"How did...when..."sputtered.
"I've known a little while but couldn't do anything about it."
"But...but...."
Ginny looked closely at Gabrielle and could see the worry on her face, the house elf also looked to be close to tears. Whatever was the problem it looked serious she didn't know what she could do but she trusted Gabrielle.
"Mum we helped him last time. We can do it again."
"Last time?"
"Yes here, the pair of us helped him then. I've got to go!"
"But..."
"I'll be fine and I don't think Harry would object if you came as well. In fact I think it would be best if you brought Ron and Hermione as well."
"I still don't..."
"Please mum? I really can help you'll be along shortly just let me go now, please?"
"Alright." replied Molly who was suddenly enveloped in a quick hug from her daughter.
"Gabrielle just give me a second." Without waiting for an answer Ginny sprinted to the stairs and dashed into her room. Grabbing her bag she turned to find Hermione standing in the doorway.
"You're leaving?"
"Yes you had better get you bag too Gabrielle said that she thinks that you should be there as well."
"Ok I'll get Ron and we'll meet you there."
Ginny gave Hermione a brief hug and whispered thanks before retuning to the main room.
Gabrielle smiled as she saw that Ginny was carrying a small bag. It was obvious that Ginny had planned a head for this.
"See you in a little while mum." Ginny called as she ran over to Gabrielle and the cowering elf behind her.
Dobby looked at the two girls and gently extended his hands towards them. Ginny looked a little frightened but did not flinch as the hand closed over her arm. With the smallest of sounds and a wind whipping at Molly's feet the two girls disappeared.
**
Ginny looked round the hall of Grimmauld Place it looked slightly different than how she remembered it. She couldn't place her finger on what it was but there was a subtle difference.
"Come on." Insisted Gabrielle lightly grabbing her arm and pulling her up the stairs. Ginny followed closely and was a little surprised to stop at the first floor. She had never been on this floor and was certain that during her stay no person had ever stayed here. All the times she was here the guests always stopped on the second or third floors.
Gabrielle paused outside the first door and turned towards the House Elf.
"Dobby can you tell Mrs Weasley when she arrives to try and leave us alone. We will be fine but if more people keep coming in it might upset Harry more."
"You think he will be alright." Spluttered Dobby.
Ginny squatted down and pulled the House Elf into a light hug.
"Yes he'll be fine with us there, you did the right thing. Just make sure that we get some peace please."
"I...I's will." Sniffed dobby.
Taking a small breath Gabrielle gently pushed the door open and Ginny could see the dark room illuminated by the flickering firelight. Her eyes were immediately drawn the figure wrapped in a blanked in front of the fire. She saw the paleness of Harry's face and made to run towards him but felt a restraining hand of Gabrielle.
"What?" Ginny mouthed.
"He's scared of sleeping that's all. He needs to sleep; don't rush him or crowd him just help him sleep."
Ginny nodded not understanding the girl but followed her in at a slightly slower pace than she wanted to.
"Harry I'm back and brought Ginny."
"No...no...you shouldn't be here it dangerous."
"It's alright Harry we know." Said Ginny.
"You don't understand he will...he will...."
"Harry you must sleep. We will talk about it afterwards that but now you must sleep it's killing you."
"I can't sleep he will come."
"No he won't." Replied Gabrielle trying to reason with Harry.
"He will come again and take me."
"We won't let him Harry." Said Ginny.
"You can't stop him." Whispered Harry wanting to believe the quiet words but knowing that they were false.
"We can Harry. We found you and brought you home last time we'll do it again if he comes you just sleep."
"Sleep...sleep.." repeated Harry closing his eyes and trying to calm his mind.
Ginny looked at Gabrielle for instruction and saw the small girl nod towards one of the sofas. The pair sat close together and looked at Harry's form.
"We have got to help him rest."
"How do we do that Gabrielle?"
"Like that night, if he can feel us he will sleep."
"Are you sure?"
"No but it's all that we can do."
Ginny smiled a small smile before closing her eyes and focusing on the images of Harry and her family. Almost at once she felt Gabrielle next to her and her magic being drawn away. Then like the last time she found herself flying with her magic and connecting to Harry. She could feel the waves and waves of powerful emotions radiating from him, but slowly the pair soothed and danced over Harry, giving the comfort and knowledge that they were there.
**
Hermione and Ron stood in the middle of the living room as the watched Mrs Weasley rush from room to room getting everything she need for a quick departure. As soon as the girls had disappeared Molly had placed a floo call to Dumbledore. Hermione had been able to listen to some of the conversation but not all of it. It seemed that Dumbledore wasn't exactly happy at them leaving as he had told them to stay where they were and to leave Harry alone.
When Molly started to argue against this, Dumbledore defended himself by saying that it was Harry's decision and that he should be left to make his own. Molly continued to rant at Dumbledore saying that he was far too young to be on his own but was silenced almost at once when Dumbledore replied that young he was but now he had the ability to make those decisions.
Molly stopped her ranting for a moment before answering that Harry was in trouble and the two girls were already there. At the very least she would go there to get them and then she would see what Harry had to say for himself. Hermione saw what she thought was Dumbledore's face drop at this news but he eventually agreed with Molly that she should go.
Hermione mulled over what she had heard and didn't understand it. Once more she felt that she was not being told something about Harry. She had always looked out for him tried to help him yet once more things were affecting her charge that she knew nothing about. A she mulled over the conversation as Ron quietly walked up behind her and whispered.
"You all right?"
"Yes...no...things are changing and we don't know about it."
"What do you mean?"
"Didn't you hear Dumbledore?"
"Yeah but he didn't make any sense too me."
"No he did if we had been told everything. Something's going on with Harry and..."
"and who?"
Hermione didn't know what to say. She wanted to blame Gabrielle but that could implicate Ginny as well. She knew her friend well and didn't want to cause trouble for her and she definitely did not want to upset Ron.
"I don't know but we have to talk to Harry."
"Are you two ready?" called Mrs Weasley looking at the pair.
Hermione looked round at Ron and smiled.
"Yes." He replied for the both of them.

Gabrielle slowly opened her eyes and looked a Harry, his breathing was slowing and so was the shivering it seemed that at last his body was doing what it needed, sleeping. She glanced sideways at Ginny. She could see the intense concentration on the girls face, this connecting to Harry was a little above what Ginny could do, soon that would change. Gabrielle could feel the flow of magic from Ginny through her and onto Harry. She would never have been able to soothe Harry like this on her own.
As she had danced across his mental barrier she could feel the cracks and holes within it. She had tried to use her magic to help reinforce them but it wasn't until Ginny's magic joined that she felt them close and start to repair. As she continued to look around she could still feel everything that was going on in Harry and knew she was going to be in for a long night keeping the dreams at bay. But with Ginny's help she knew that they would succeed, she was finally doing what she had always wanted to do. Use her magic and skill to help Harry.
Closing her eyes she left herself flow back and basked in what was happening. Harry would be safe, she and Ginny would make sure of it all they needed was time.

Molly, Ron and Hermione appeared outside of Grimmauld Place. They quickly walked to the front door and knocked. They didn't have long to wait until it was pulled open by Dobby.
"Dobby see's that you are now here."
"Yes where's my daughter and Harry."
"The first floor, first door on the right Mrs Weasley. I think its working I think Master Harry is now asleep. But they said you should leave them along it might upset Master Harry."
"But...but...its my daughter in there with a boy...alone." Said Molly not liking the feeling of her daughter and a boy being alone together without adult supervision.
"But Miss Gabrielle is there as well?" squeaked Dobby not knowing who's orders to follow at the moment."
"Well is it alright if I at least look in at them." Demanded Molly.
Dobby hopped from foot to foot. He could see that the witch was getting more and more upset but he had been told not to let them in, but if this woman insisted what could he do?
"Well I don't know?"
Hermione could see the distress and bent low to address the elf.
"Dobby I'm sure that Harry wouldn't mind if we just looked in. When he's not well at school we all look in on him."
"Oh...ok then miss but you will be quiet."
"Of course." Smiled Hermione at the House Elf. Seeing him here brought a moment of worry to her but Harry wouldn't have employed Dobby, would he?
Not waiting a moment longer Molly walked up the stairs. As she slow pushed open the door she could hear Hermione and Ron behind her. The three of them looked into the largest bedroom that any of them had ever seen. Molly saw her daughter and Gabrielle sitting close together on a small sofa. The pair had their eyes closed but looked like they were in deep concentration.
She then saw Harry and realised what everybody was worrying about. He looked pale and ill she wanted to rush to him yet saw that he was sleeping. Molly thought she could see traces of something flowing between the girls and Harry. Whatever the two girls were doing it looked like it was succeeding. The three of them quietly approached the group. Hermione studied everything in front of her and for once did not understand what she was seeing.
"I think Harry would be better on the bed don't you?" whispered Molly to Hermione.
Hermione just nodded trying to understand what she was seeing. Molly drew her wand and with delicate movements levitated Harry away from the fire and onto the bed. He didn't seem to move or register the moment he just continued to sleep with his eyes closed.
"Well I think Ginny's done what Gabrielle wanted, I'll just wake the pair so that we can all leave Harry alone."
"No Mrs Weasley I think they are still doing it, look." Said Hermione.
Molly studied her daughters face more closely and indeed saw that it was moving as if her mind was working on a problem.
"All right then I'll stay and look after everybody."
"No I don't think Dobby would like that Mrs Weasley."
"Perhaps your right, but I'll keep checking on them just to make sure."
Hermione had to smile to herself. Molly now had more people to keep her eyes on. This was indeed going to be hard work for her and in that it might give herself the chance that she had been hoping for all summer. Some time alone with Ron.
