People have different attractions. Some love the same race. Others love the opposite race. But most humans don't see color too much. They see the looks and charm of the person. Once the two races are together in love, things blend perfectly. Now if it turns out happy or not, depends on how the relationship plays out. Many people object to the two races being together but they stay together anyway, just to prove that they can make it work.
Don stepped forward to the nurse. "Jessie?" he asked in shock. Jim looked back and forth confused. "Jessie?" he repeated. The nurse kept staring at the men. "Don?" she asked. Jim looked straight back at her. "Don?" he repeated. "What's going on here? You know each other?" Both ignored him. "It's... been a whole year!" the lieutenant said aloud. "Yes it has." Jessie agreed. Poor Jim was lost and confused in the middle of this! "What is going on here?!?" he yelled out. Jessie and Don turned to the lost and confused man. Don looked back at Jessie. "Should we tell him the truth?" he asked. Jim kept watching them. The way Don said that was like a father talking to his wife about telling their son that Santa Claus is a myth. Jessie smiled and shrugged. "Go on," she said. "He's your friend!" Don turned back to Jim. His poor buddy looked disappointed. He looked like a kid with a ruined birthday party. Don sighed and turned back to Jessie. "Care to help me out with this?" he asked. The nurse sighed as well. "Sure," she said. "He looks like the type that's going to need a lot of explaining." "Yes he does!" the lieutenant called out. Then, he turned back to Jim. He walked over to his pal. "Come on with us," Mitchell said. "We've got to talk." Jim hesitated at first. Then, the three of them headed out to the hospital garden.
Daphine was wandering around the hospital in boredom when she saw Colonel Mustang. He too was visiting a dear old friend. She paused and smiled to herself. "So you're the one that good old Jaks turned down!" the nurse thought to herself. Daphine was grinning hard at the colonel. She knew that the higher-ups in the military had big paychecks. If it was one thing Daphine wanted was a rich charming guy. (With a hint of cocky arrogance on the side.) "Oh, he'll do perfectly!" the sex kitten nurse thought. Then, Daphine straightened herself up some and walked over to Mustang. The colonel was lost in his thoughts when he felt a small tap on his shoulders. Roy turned to see Daphine. She was smiling at him sweetly. "Hi there!" the nurse said. Mustang raised an eyebrow at her. "Hello," he said formal. "Damn her teeth are so white!" "So you're Colonel Mustang!" Daphine spoke up. "Yes," Mustang replied in a great and cocky. "So, you've heard of me, then?" "Uh-huh!" the nurse called out. "Jaks told that you were the half-wit that she rejected!" Sweat drop forms on Mustang's head "Did that bitch have to tell her co-workers that?" he thought annoyed.
Daphine kept smiling at him. "But I don't think you are a half-wit!" she said in a fake sweet voice. The colonel turned back to her in shock. "You don't?" he asked. Daphine shook her head innocently. "In fact," she went on. "I think you're really cute!" Mustang began to smile again. Finally, a woman that didn't mock him! The nurse was smiling herself. "Now to bring it all home!" she thought. "You've got him in your grasp! Just keep working it, girl!" Daphine stood up a little straighter. "I really want to get to know you more," she said. "What do you say we go out for drinks or something?" Mustang smiled back at her. "Sure!" he called out. The nurse kept smiling. "Friday then?" she asked. "Yes." the colonel replied. "Great!" Daphine called. "See you then!" Then, Daphine walked away smiling. "I love it when I win!" she thought in pure mischief.
Jessie, Don, and Jim came out the back hospital garden. It was a serene place. A waterfall ran lightly in the distant background. The gentle spring breeze blew through the sweet willow trees. The sun twinkled in the cool clean pond water. Jessie and Don sat down on a black metal bench under the big willow tree. Jim walked closer to them. His pal held out his arm. "Sit!" he ordered. The lieutenant sat down in the wicker chair in front of the nurse and other lieutenant. Silence passed at first. Don turned to Jessie. "Do you want to start?" he asked. The nurse shook her head. "He's your friend!" she said again. "I'm just here as the translator!" The lieutenant sighed and rolled his eyes. "You're not helping at all!" "Excuse me!" Jim called out. Both Don and Jessie turned back to him. "What's going on here?" the lieutenant asked again. The pair sighed again. "Jim," Don began. "This is the woman I slept with last year." The lieutenant's mouth fell open in shock. "WHAT?!?" he yelled out. "BUT YOU WERE STILL MARRIED TO TAMSIN AT THE TIME!!!" Don nodded softly. "Yes I was." he answered. "But... But..." Jim forced out. His friend lightly put his hand on his knee. "Just listen." Don said. Jim calmed down and listened. The other lieutenant and nurse drew in a deep breath and began telling the whole story.
[Flashback]
Don and his wife, Tamsin, seemed like the perfect couple on the surface. They had a normal life, well-paying jobs, and great friends to support them in their time of need. But, that was far from the truth. The couple was happy at first. But as the years wore on, things became bittersweet. They were fighting more than talking. Tamsin and Don seemed to try and look for ways to escape each other for days at a time. There were some glimpses of hope that their marriage would get better, but those went as fast as they came. At first, friends tried to help them stay together. But they started to see that it was hopeless. Only Jim had hope that they would last. (They only agreed to keep trying only to appease him.) Then, Don had his escape last year.
Don was visiting a friend in St. Mary's Touch Hospital when he met Jessie Phillips. She was a lovely site to behold. Strawberry blond hair to her shoulders, a little less breasts and ass than now, nice looking healthy body, soft fair skin, and lovely dark green eyes. Jessie was single at the time and Don was lonely. The lieutenant was looking for a friend to turn to when things with Tamsin got worse than usual. The two talked for a while and things became hotter from there. Pretty soon, Don and Jessie were screwing on a regular basis. They mostly met in the hospital after hours to have their affairs. Sometimes, they would go on the outskirts of town and have flings for the whole weekend. Those were the best days of their lives. They kept their affair a secret. Jessie knew that Don was married, but she didn't care. She was just happy to have a man pay so much attention to her for a change. Don was happy to finally have someone to help him escape from Tamsin when the storm was uglier than usual.
All was fine with everything until Jessie became pregnant. She had switched birth control pills and her body wasn't responding to the new ones too well. Don and Jessie found themselves in over their heads with it. He was still married to Tamsin and she wasn't ready to raise a child. (She didn't have the money either.) They considered abortion but decided against it. Don didn't have the heart for Jessie to go and kill the baby. Jessie was willing to go along with any decision they had made with this child. Soon, Tamsin found out the truth when Jessie was five months pregnant and filed for divorce. Don would've stayed around to make things work with Jessie but he got transferred back to the North when Jessie was eight months pregnant. They broke up and lost contact since then.
[End of Flashback]
Jim sat there stunned. "She... was the reason... you and Tamsin... divorced?" he asked in shock. Jessie and Don both nodded. The old lieutenant felt a world of disillusion. His best friend cheated on his own wife with a nurse? And they have a kid together? No! No, this couldn't right! This was all a bad dream for Jim. Don patted him on the knee again. "Look man," he said. "I'm so sorry that you had to find out the truth like this. But, we'll all still be friends!" "Why did you keep it a secret from me all of these years?" Jim asked in shock. Don sighed again. "Because," he said. "You were close to Tamsin and I didn't want to disappoint you with my marriage problems with her." Jim sat back pale. His best friend committed adultery with a nurse and had a child with him. And all of this time he thought things between him and Tamsin were getting better. Instead, Don was cheating on his wife. This was a hard and painful pill to swallow.
Nurse Mia Ryan was known as the queen of gloom. She was all about work and didn't even bother trying to get a date. Clubbing with her fellow housemates didn't help either. In fact, Nurse Ryan thought that Izzie's idea to flirt with the soldiers was pure shit. It wasn't that Mia couldn't give a date. (The woman is freaking gorgeous!) It's just that she keeps to herself a little bitty too much. (A problem that her housemates are trying to fix but have no luck with.) Mia has a twelve-year-old daughter with a man who is her ex-husband and tries to be a mother to her. The woman is distant and moody at times. But today, that was changing.
Mia was checking on a child patient when she was Denny Brosh. He too was visiting a friend in the hospital. (We seem to have many of the dogs visiting in St. Mary's Touch today, don't we?) Usually, his kind would even catch her attention. But there was something about the man that she couldn't turn away from. She was like a moth to fire with him. Suddenly, Izzie's idea to flirt and seduce the soldiers didn't seem so shitty anymore. In fact, it seemed rather... fun! It was settled then. Mia was going to entice and attract Denny into her bed. Maybe now that would shut up her promiscuous housemates on her not doing for a long time!
This was taking a while for Jim to take the whole truth in. Don actually cheated on Tamsin with Jessie and had a kid with her! How could this be? How could this be? Sure, he knew that Don and Tamsin were having problems in their marriage. But he never expected infidelity to be the final nail in the coffin. Jessie cleared her throat. Both lieutenants looked up. "If you are done here," the nurse spoke up. "I'll be leaving now!" Don turned back to her. "Right," he said. "I'll see you around, then." Jessie kept her serious face and left the men alone in the garden. Don watched her leave with a smile on his face. "That woman," he said to himself. "Will be my second wife!" Jim slumped down to the disillusioned. His best friend cheated on his wife with a nurse and has a kid with her! This was still too much for him to handle!
