I sighed into the late autumn breeze, pushing my sunglasses up to block my eyes from the blaring sun. My heels sounded on the pavement beneath my feet and I cursed myself under my breath for wearing them. I knew that it was a mistake when I put them on, but figured I could handle it for the day. My thoughts were interrupted when I collided head-on with someone, nearly knocking both of us on our asses, "Watch where you're going, asshole."

I rolled my eyes at the comment, not bothering to reply, even though I wanted to cuss the bitch out. Since I didn't think that fighting with a random stranger was the best way to start out my final year of college, I continued towards my second class of the day. The first two hours of my morning had been filled with a mind-numbing lecture given by Professor Simpson in Sociology. I had barely paid attention for the last hour; My mind floating around elsewhere as I waited for the torture to end.

The art department was small and neglected looking compared to the rest of the buildings on campus. My suspicions were that not many people took the class, therefore it had poor funding. The only reason I was taking the class was that I needed an art class in order to get my degree, and I sure as hell wasn't taking anything in the music field. I'll just say I'm not exactly musically inclined in the slightest. I pulled open the heavy door and walked into the dark hallway. The walls were a mustard yellow, the floors were covered in thick brown carpet and two ceiling bulbs lit the way into three different rooms, each marked by the professors' name.

For a moment, I forgot which room I was supposed to enter until my eyes scanned the second door to the right. 'Way.' Was printed in white lettering on the wooden door. He was new to the school, having been hired over the summer after the last professor had been arrested for possession of cocaine. Rumors were that he had been selling to his students as well, but I never believed anything regarding the case that I didn't read printed in the paper.

Confused at why the door was shut, I glanced down at my watch and realized I was late. Only by five minutes, but I was guessing he was one of those that was overly picky about punctuality. 'What a great first impression, Blair.' I rolled my eyes before opening the door slowly as I could, hoping I wouldn't gain the attention of the entire class. No such luck.

Before I was even in the room, every set of eyes in the room was on me as if I was a side show freak. My cheeks burned with embarrassment as I closed the door behind me. "So good of you to join us, Miss....?" The professor said from the middle of the room, his eyes scanning my figure as I found my way to an empty seat. My stomach flopped when I laid my eyes on him; He was gorgeous. His jet black hair framed his perfectly chiseled face; His body was lean, but not overly muscular. The thing that really got my attention though, was his eyes. They were honey colored, and they seemed to glow as he continued to gaze at me.

"Taylor." I informed him. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize I was late until I got here. It won't happen again." I sat my bag down next to me and tried my best not to stare as he smirked at me.
"Alright, Miss Taylor. I'll be holding you to that." He winked before turning his attention back to the rest of the class. "As I was saying, I'm Professor Way, but I would much rather you just call me Gerard. I hate being so formal. It feels so impersonal." His eyes traveled across the room. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat as he let his eyes fall on me once again while he spoke.

"Your first assigment is whatever you want it to be, as long as it's done to the best of your ability. I want to get a feel for your personal style. Don't take forever on it though. I would like for it to be something you can do within the week so we can get things moving." I watched him pace across the floor. I noticed he liked to use hand gestures as he spoke, and that he talked out of the side of his mouth. It was a weird habit, I must admit, but he made it look hot. Hell, I imagined the man could make almost anything look hot.

I sighed, not liking the crush I was forming. I had never been one to oggle over a teacher, even in high school. In fact, I had always been annoyed by the girls that would drool over my old history teacher. He had been attractive, but I didn't let it get in the way of my studying, much less sit and stare all class period.

"You can start now, or you can wait, depending on how long you think it will take. If you have any questions, I'll be at my desk. " He commented, retreating to his work station. I watched as a few people opened sketch pads and set to work, while others began chatting quietly to their friends. I drummed my fingers on the small wooden table in front of me, only looking up to watch the time...and of course to steal glances at Gerard.

The third time I looked up I caught eyes with Gerard making me feel awkward. He smiled knowingly at me as I blushed and forced myself to smile back at him. I averted my gaze to the floor when I his voice filled the air, "Problems, Miss Taylor?" He asked.

"No." I answered, shaking my head.

He raised and eyebrow at me, then glanced back down to his desk to continue his work. I sighed, hoping this hormone overdrive was only temporary. I rested my head on my desk, waiting for the class to end.

The cool air blowing from the vents soothed my nerves and nearly put me to sleep. I knew I should have at least attempted to work on something, but at the moment I was too caught up in other thoughts: This being my final year of college. My long hours that I had to put in to finally finish my education. My new roommate that just loved to stay up all hours of the night on the phone. Anything to keep my mind of the man merely ten feet from me.

After what felt like days listening to my surroundings, but had in reality only been an hour and a half, I noticed the majority of the classroom gathering their things as the end of class had finally arrived. I lifted my head, rubbing my groggy eyes as I picked up my belongings and stretched.

I waited til the room was nearly vacated before I attempted to leave so I wouldn't have to fight my way through the crowd. "Miss Taylor." I heard my name as I stood. I glanced up to see Professor Way....Gerard...standing in front of his desk, his eyes glued to me.

"Yes?" I answered, trying to make it obvious I was in a hurry. I knew if I was left alone with this man, I would either jump him or make myself out to be some sort of socially retarded moron; The latter being more likely.

"Is there a reason that you were sleeping the entire session?" He asked, his hands resting on his desk behind him as he leaned against them.

Not staring proved to be hard at this range. I let my eyes meet his when I replied, "Well, I didn't bring anything to class. That and I suck at drawing anyway, so it really wouldn't matter if I had."

He smiled at my response, staring into my eyes, "Next time, bring something. If you don't have anything there's extra supplies here. I bring things in all the time. As far as the 'sucking at drawing' part goes," He used air quotes on the last part, "You could come here during your free time and we could work on that."

His voice was eerily low by the time he had finished his statements. "Okay...maybe..." I said slowly, watching as he continued to stare. "I've got to go..." I backed up, just now realizing we were the only two remaining in the room. "I've got ...things to do."

Gerard just nodded and turned back to his desk, "See you next time then."
