Hey there readers! I'm taking it you've read "I'll Be There. Ready To Take That Bullet."? Well, if you haven't, then GODDAMNIT DO IT. Anywho, this is the start of a new story. Yes, it's Ferard. Woopdy doo. I was watching an interview where they asked Mikey, Ray and Frank about fanfictions and Mikey said someone e-mailed him a paragraph that was Waycest, he said he would stay away from fanfiction forever. Frank just said he tends to not read it because he thought it was kind of creepy. All Ray said was "Stop making us have sex with each other!" If you haven't seen it, it's a total must. SO WITHOUT FURTHER HESITATIONS OR INTERRUPTIONS; THE STORY.

Today was New Years Eve. But this year wasn't the usual. I was alone, no one, no family, no friends, just Gerard Arthur Way. Now you're probably wondering what I was doing, and to tell you the truth, I had no fucking idea. Originally the plan was a fun night out with Mikey, but then his plans changed and he ended up going with some of his other friends, I just didn't want to bother. I figured that since it was New Years that there would be a lot of people out on the streets, and although there were, none of them were interested in talking to me. That would be absurd! Nooo, everyone had to mind their own business and, as usual, not give a shit about Gerard.
Okay so I know there's a lot of people who love me, but honestly I barely had any friends. After high school noting really changed. Sure, I went to art school, but I still am not exactly accepted by anyone. Ignoring my tragic sense of loneliness I make my way into a nameless coffee shop somewhere. I liked these kinds of coffee shops, the ones that stay open late with live music that in all truth isn't really good. It makes me feel at home. But maybe it's just because of my caffeine addiction.
I walk in, the cool breeze of the winter air following me in. It isn't until I reach into the pocket of my jacket that I realize how violently the cold air had clung to me. I suppose I get used to it always walking around by myself though. I walk up to the barista and order, seeing as there's no line. It's empty in here, but what could I expect tonight? A crowd in the coffee shop? I doubt that.
Just as I had started to think I was completely alone I realize that there's some guy sitting in the corner by the window, his head resting on his palm, facing out toward the world, watching wind blow the trees. For some reason I know exactly what he's looking at. He's looking out past the trees and into the already darkened sky. It's crisp to see the sky in the winter, the cold air wrapping you up and chilling you to the bone. I am curious but I'm not the kind of guy who just walks up to you.
After a while of standing with my back against the wall by the sugars and creamers the lady hands me my coffee. I add a few sugars and a cream and sit on the other side of the door in the same spot as the boy. Now that I was across from him I could see around his pulled up hood. From where I was a saw a cute nose, pink lips accented with a lip ring, and one beautiful glistening eye. Although I couldn't see his whole face, he was breath taking. I chose to ignore the handsome boy and sip my coffee.
After about four coffees I realized that I had nothing better to do but sit, drink coffee, and watch some guy. I made myself sound rather creepy, didn't I? Despite my sudden realization of weirdness I kept watching him. He had been very slowly sipping the same coffee for about an hour. I observed as he came to the last sip of his cup, looking down with a disappointed look on his cute little face. From the front his face was just... amazing. He had long, dark brown hair that curled partially underneath one eye.
He wiped his hair from his face as he looked up, obviously feeling my gaze. I wasn't good at these sorts of things to I simply rolled my eyes toward the window. I must look like an idiot. I heard him set his coffee cup down and decided to watch him through the corner of my eye. He flicks it over and sighs, cupping his face in his hand again. This kid looked younger than me, but only by a few years, which didn't matter to me. The boy continued to look back out the window, all of a sudden a streaker came running past the window, both him and I saw it.
I laughed to myself and shook my head.
"Nutcases." The boy across from me said.
He shook his head and went to swirling his empty coffee cup.
"Tell me about it." I scoffed and continued to look back out the window.
Yes. Small talk. Now's my chance.
"You want another coffee?" I asked him, jerking my head toward the counter.
He looked up at me with a deer-in-the-headlights look. It was damn cute.
"Oh-Uh... sure." He said shyly.
I got up and walked to the counter, he watched curiously. My eyes scanned the menu for a quick second. Without look at him I asked,
"Whadd'ya want?" My brow furrowed as I examined the odd coffee flavors.
"Whadd'ya recommend?" He asked, scooting the metal chair back to stand.
We both stood there, looking at the menu.
"I wanna try some weird fruity cappuccino." He told me, looking at me with a smile.
I proceeded to order two strawberry flavored drinks. I had never really tried anything else besides just plain coffee with sugar and cream in it before. It couldn't hurt to try now, right? We both sat back down at a table by the window. The boy fiddled with his lip ring and fidgeted his hands.
"So, what's your name?" I asked him, giving him my full attention.
He looked up at me with that little animal look again.
"Uhm, Frank. Frank... Iero." He sounded unsure of his last name or something.
"I'm Gerard Way." I said smiling at him like an idiot.
I hated first impressions. I always succeeded in making myself look like a quiet little bitch, but not this time. I didn't want to hold out my hand and look like a prick so I just smiled happily at him. After a second of looking confused or something, Frank smiled.
"N-nice to meet you." He told me.
His eyes were so cute when he smiled. They seemed to constantly glisten with tears, or maybe I was just so lost in them? Right as I was about to say something the barista announced that our orders were up.
"I'll get it." I told Frank as I lifted myself up.
I brought back the drinks. They were pink. I heard Frank let out a small chuckle at the strange color.
"Let's hope they're good, right?" I told him, handing him his cup.
"Cheers." He said holding up his cup and smiling widely.
This kid really was cute. I don't know how he ended up alone tonight. I would expect someone like him to be out partying with girls all night instead of hanging around in a coffee shop with... me. I tapped his cup with my own and took a sip. At first it wasn't really good, but I suppose you're always looking for an aftertaste in coffee.
"Not bad." I told him, examining my cup as if I could see through it.
"I like it." Frank said, holding his cup in both hands and smiling.
After a moment of sitting there and sipping our drinks I decided it would be best if I got going, seeing as the barista wanted to close up soon anyways.
"I think I better start home." I told him, staring at my watch.
It was almost 11:00, one hour 'till New Years.
"Oh... okay." He said staring down at his coffee cup.
"So you're alone tonight to?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
He mumbled something that I couldn't quite hear.
"What?" I asked stupidly.
"I'm always alone." He told me, looking back out the window.
"What do you mean?" I asked him, suddenly feeling bad.
He sighed and continued to look out the window, scanning the passing cars.
"I'm just... always alone." I think my heart snapped a little because at that moment I acted on impulse.
"Well then why don't you spend New Years with me?" What a dumb question! Why would I say that?!
"You mean it?" He asked, looking up with a hopeful look.
Apparently he liked that idea more than I thought he would.
"W-well, yeah, I guess. You'd be spending New Years with strangers if you went to a party anyways." I said, shrugging off the awkwardness.
So, he agreed, and we made our way out of the coffee shop. This was going to be the best New Years of my life and I didn't even know it.
