Franks in a coma. Will this make Gerard show his true feelings towards him? Or will everything go to hell? Read and find out!
It was all great. Everything was pretty much perfect. Until today.
I stared at Franks lifeless body as the ambulance pulled up behind the crashed car. I feel the hot tears rolling down my cheeks as I try to pull out of the officers arms. Shoutin and crying all around me. I turn around and run back to my house. I need to tell Mikey what's happened. I run down the streets of New Jersey until I finally reach my house. I smash on the door, I don't know where my keys are and I couldn't look for them; I'm too much of a wreck and too week. For all I know, they could've been in my car back at the crash scene. Mikey opens the door and immediately shouts "Gerard! What happened?"
"Mikey! Get the car! F-F-Franks in hospital!"
Mikey says nothing, just grabs his car keys and sortov drags me out to the driveway with him. We drive quickly to the hospital. Usually it would take 20 minutes, but it only took us 10. Mikey drags me out of the car and through the hospital doors, to the reception. I stand up, although I'm wobbling awkwardly on my unstable legs, I manage to stand up. As me and Mikey run around frantically looking for room '105' we get stopped by a tall, blonde guy in a white doctors coat.
"You shouldn't be running around here." He says calmly.
"Get out of our way!" Mikey shouts.
He grabs my hand and pulls me into the elevator. We go up to level 4 and run out. By this time, my legs are killing me and I don't know how much further I can go.
"Mikey!" I shout, stopping.
"Come on Gee!"
"Can't we walk?" I ask hopefully.
"Sure." He smiles.
He walks beside me, helping me to keep my balance.
"Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" A young, brunette girl comes up to us.
She's probably a nurse.
"Fine." I reply.
"No you're not. You can hardly keep your balance, let me help you."
"Thanks, but I don't need your help. I need to find someone."
"Okay." she sighs.
Me and Mikey keep walking until we finally reach room 105. Before we go in, a young doctor walks out of the room, looking at us as she closes the door behind her.
"Is he okay?" I stop her.
"Well, he's in a coma which could last 2 days to 7 years."
"What?!" I shout in disbelief.
I could lose Frankie for 7 years!
"But we don't know. We'll have to wait and see."
I stare at her in disbelief as she walks down the hallway and into the elevator.
"7 years!" I cry into Mikeys shoulder.
We stand there in each others arms for a while until an older woman than the last comes up to us.
"Hi, are you Gerard Way?" She asks.
"Yes." I say, wiping my eyes, trying not to look like an idiot.
"The police have asked to see you. Apparently the car was yours and they have a few questions to ask you."
I sigh, what if I go to jail? What if they send me away? I won't let them. I haven't done anything wrong.
"How is Frank though?"
"I believe Jeanette already told you. He's in a coma."
"We should go down to the police station." Mikey says.
"Yeah..." I say quietly.
We walk through the doors of the police station. A sudden memory flashes through my head;
"I didn't do it! I'm not crazy!" my Dad shouted.
He tried to pull away from the officers, but they were too strong for him. I just stood there, staring at him. They were locking him up, but I didn't care. He was a horrible human. He left us, and my Mum.
The flashback finishes and I realise Mikey's trying to pull me to get me to go further.
"I can't Mikey. It brings back bad memories." I whisper.
"I know Gee, I was there. It brings me back memories too." He whispers back.
I look down at my feet as I walk forward.
"Gerard Way yes?" Someone says.
I look up at him. The same officer that held my Dad back when he tried to escape.
"You look like the kind of boy that would end up here." he said, "however, I hope you don't." he finished the last 4 words strictly.
I was only 15, Mikey was 13 and neither of us knew what to do.
"I thought I told you last time, I didn't want to see you here... Ever." the officer said, interrupting my thoughts.
We stared at each other with hate for a while until another man came up to us.
"Gerard Way yes? We need to ask you some questions."
"Oh... Er, okay." I stutter.
He leads me into a quiet office, once I sit down I realise they left Mikey to sit outside the office.
"So, the car which was crashed today was your car yes?"
"Yeah." I reply.
"Okay, were you driving it?"
"Frank was, wasn't he?"
"Mhm." I say.
"Did you let him borrow the car?"
"Yeah, he was going to the shops for a while so I dropped my car off at his place."
"Okay." he looks up from his papers at me, "Don't worry, you won't end up like your dad." He laughs.
"So tell me exactly what happened." He says to me.
"Well, Frank called and asked to borrow my car. I drove it to his place and I was going to walk back to my house. He pulled out of the driveway, drove to the end of the street and then a car was driving in the wrong lane and they collided." I sigh.
"So there was another car?"
"Right, thank you Mr. Way. We'll keep you informed."
"Thanks." I say.
At least I won't end up like Dad. I sigh in relief.
