Stan wolf whistled at the new girl, she shot him daggers from her dark brown eyes and turned back to her locker. Stefan laughed at his friend.
“Hey, Saff” he called, she looked at him over her shoulder and rolled her eyes when he stood up straight from leaning his back against the walls of the left wing college corridor and made his way over to her,
“What do you want Stefan? I’m in a hurry” he smiled at her, Stefan was no stranger to Saffy’s persistent irritated tone when someone spoke to her before class. Her mind was always dead set on education and it seemed as though she thought that anyone who spoke to her during the five minute breaks between classes would cause her to become sidetracked and as a consequence, she wouldn’t be able to absorb any knowledge in class.
“Nothing much, i was just wondering, i’m having a party at mine tonight, if you wanted to come along?” she looked at him very carefully, he didn’t appear to be joking,
“I don’t know where you live” she said, looking back into her locker and moving books around and taking two out. He chuckled and leaned up against the lockers, putting his hands in his pockets and staring at the wall ahead of him.
“You know where Ash lives” she slammed her locker and looked down at her blue converse, Stefan hadn’t flinched or anything but he was looking at her from the corners of his eyes, “i live there” he finished, standing up straight,
“nothing happened” she said, through gritted teeth. He shrugged and shook his head,
“i never said it did.” They held each other’s eyes for a few seconds before Stefan cracked a smirk, “well, the party starts at nine, you’re more than welcome Saff. Class is about to start, should probably go, see you” he took two steps back, returning to his little group of friends and disappearing down another corridor round the corner. The bells ring penetrated the hum of socialization and Saff dropped her books and her folder, paper scattered around on the floor, she bent down, scrambling to pick them all up. A third ad fourth hand appeared in her eye sight, gathering papers together, she looked up and met an unfamiliar pair of eyes and a friendly smile. She returned it politely. The boy had dark blonde hair that came down in front of his blue eyes, he flicked it out of the way.
“Hi” he sounded confident and easy to speak to.
“Ergh, hi” Saff replied, not really sure what to do next. He handed her over the loose sheets and she thanked him, stumbling over her words slightly as she juggled her books and folder, trying to open it back up to slip the paper in.
“I’m Charlie” he said,
“i’m late” Saff replied, looking at the clock hanging on the wall, seconds passing quickly. Charlie laughed and she lightened up slightly, “my names Saff, sorry, i’d love to stay and talk but i’m gonna be late” he nodded,
“sure, what class have you got?” she bit her lip, trying to think,
“I have a history lecture” though she had no idea where it was.
“Oh, right, yeah, the big lecture hall, you know where it is right? You look new. At least, i’ve never seen you around here before” Saff nodded,
“yeah, i’m new and honestly, i have no idea where it is” with a lighthearted laugh, Charlie nodded,
“i’ll show you where it is, i have a free period” Saff smiled and agreed. They walked down the corridor that Stefan had gone down.
