Trial #6:

Next Victim...

Bude's Interview with Garry.

"Please state your name."

"Garry Slater."

"How long have you worked at Beach Radio Magazine?"

"Six months."

"Why such a short time?"

"My original company merged with them."

"And what was your original company?"

"Blast Attack."

"And how would you compare the two?"

"Well, let's see... It's about the same."

"Is that right?"

Garry nodded. "Yeah, pretty much. I guess."

"You guess?"

"Yes."

"I see." Madison took down some notes. Garry tried not to look down. Ms. Bude looked up at him.

"So, how have you adjusted to working here?"

Garry made himself sit up straight. "Pretty good."

"Is that so?"

"Yes. Is that a problem?"

"You tell me."

Garry shook his head. "No, I don't think it's a problem."

Madison didn't move. She just wrote down more notes. Garry fought to keep a brave face.

The older woman glanced up at him. "Describe the work atmosphere."

He gave her a quick nod. "Good. Pretty good."

Madison looked him straight in the eye. "That it?"

"Yes. It's pretty good here."

Ms. Bude wrote down more notes which made Garry fight to keep up his brave face even harder. She looked up at him.

"Show me your portfolio."

"Alright." He handed her his portfolio. She took it from his hand.

"Thank you." Madison opened it and read over the contents. Garry shifted in his seat as he tried to keep his brave face from cracking under pressure.

Don't let her get to you, man!, he thought. Don't let her get to you! You can do this! Just keep a straight face! Ms. Bude looked up at him and handed back the portfolio.

"Thank you," she said. "That will be all. Any questions?"

Garry blinked for a moment before shaking his head. "No, no miss."

Madison sat back in her chair. "Good, you may go."

Garry quickly stood up from his chair. "Thank you, miss." They shook hands and he left the office. He had to keep a fake grin on his face the whole time to keep from screaming out afterwards.
