Chapter 13
The next morning, Ray coaxed Eveie from his bed, to his door, to the hall, and down the stairs. Mikey, Gerard, Marion, and Maria were sleeping in the living room.
"Do you want some coffee?" Ray asked, helping Eveie slip past the sleeping couples. Eveie nodded cracking a small smile.
The swept silently into the kitchen and made coffee. Secret smiles were shared a crossed the small island, before and after the bitter caffine was brewed.
When the couples in the other room began stiring, Eveie and Ray sat outside, dipping their feet into the grassy dew. After a few long moments of silence and gazing at the sky, Eveie turned her head to Ray.
"I think that's all I needed."
"What?" Ray turned to her, his eyes scrunched in confusion.
"I think all I needed was you to set me free. I think I love you Ray. Do you love me?"
"Yeah," Ray turned his eyes to the sky. "Yeah, I really think I do." Eveie smiled.
"Good."
