And I thought dinner was awkward...Roy's face split into smile that had very little amusement in it, the determined smile of a man about to walk to his death. With stilted formality he opened the door to his apartment, quietly proud of the fact his shaking hands managed to keep a firm hold on his keys, and ushered an equally solemn Ed to enter.

As he shut the door behind them, Roy realized that this was, pretty much, as far as he had managed to plan ahead.

Ed shed his boots just inside the door with casual politeness, and ran out of familiar actions. "So. This was your idea. What the hell do you have in mind?"

Far too proud to admit to having no thought in mind apart from the way Ed slid his hip out just a bit to the left when he was nervous, Roy offered a reflexive invitation. "Coffee?"

Ed blinked at him, not sure whether to be amused or cranky. "They had coffee at the café."

"Ah..."

"Anyway, I don't drink the stuff." Ed waved a dismissive hand.

Roy fumbled after some sort of familiar rejoinder in an attempt to diffuse the tension saturating the apartment. "Excellent choice. I hear they say it stunts growth."

Ed twitched. The blush that had been lingering around his cheeks flushed angrily as a breath hissed between clenched teeth. Roy found it rather intriguing to watch as Ed clamped down on his volatile temper. "Really?" He snarled, intent on trying not to lose that death grip on the urge to rant.

"Indeed." Roy couldn't help but tease. It was familiar, easy. Endearing. "It would be tragic for you to be any shorter."

Ed glared up at him, trying not to crane his neck to far back, trying not to reinforce the height difference. He was so close...the two of them having not yet managed to leave the impersonal safety of the foyer. Roy inhaled, catching a hint of the odd mix of oil and sweat that marked Ed's presence. Intoxicatingly unique, prompting him...he leaned forward, not completely of his own volition, and managed to meet Ed's lips somewhere in the middle.

All of the tension came to a head in that instant, with that contact, that not-at-all-accidental brush of lips. Roy felt the shudder that rippled through Ed's frame, felt the hiss of breath that escaped him as Roy started to draw away.

And he most definitely felt the metal hand that clamped onto the back of his head, demandingly holding him in place as Ed lunged forward to claim a much more adamant kiss. "Don't even think it." Ed growled, breath hot against Roy's mouth. "Don't you dare."

It was an agony of indecision. Overwhelmed by the taste of Ed, the feel of his lips pressed almost angrily into Roy's own, the feel of a tongue clumsily pressing its way into his mouth... it was gloriously forceful, exquisitely out of control. The small part of his brain that remained appalled at the proceedings kept him from pressing Ed up against the hallways conveniently bare wall. The part of his brain that remembered kissing someone else this way...being pushed aside... was frozen in place, waiting for the moment to pass, for the rejection to start.

Ed bit down hard on Roy's lower lip, drawing blood, as well as Roy's attention back to the present situation. "A little help here." He demanded, the blush in his cheeks a mix of aggravation, arousal, and embarrassment. Ed looked so out of sorts, and deliciously flustered...Roy couldn't help but reach up and cup the side of his face. Ed grimaced, flinching a bit.

Instantly Roy drew back, the anxious part of his mind taking that opportunity to rear its insidious head. "I'm s..."

"The gloves, you ass. They're rough." Ed snapped.

Roy wanted to deny that the sharp, relieved bark of a laugh that broke through the apartment was his. Ed looked at him like he was crazy, and maybe he was, but somehow that mundane little problem put the whole thing into perspective.

"Why don't you take them off then?" He suggested, reaching to brush those abrasive fingertips down along Ed's throat.

"Take them off yourself...."

Roy smirked, switching the target of his caresses. He carefully traced a finger along the curve of Ed's slightly swollen lips, daring him to bite.

Ed, thankfully, was never one to back down from a challenge. He nipped at the finger, catching it with almost enough force to hurt, holding it in place. Smirk broadening, Roy started, ever so slowly, to pull his finger back, counting on Ed to continue to hold on.

Too slow. It was too slow for the younger man. With a frustrated, deep growl, Ed yanked his head back, pulling the glove free in one violent movement, letting it land in an irreverent bunch on the floor. "Don't tease me."

Roy caught Ed's chin in a firm grip, gaze intent. "Who said I was teasing?" A little roughly, Roy pulled Ed's head forward, watching the little shudders that danced along the shorter man's frame. "Did I give the impression I wasn't interested?" With that he took his own turn at devouring the others mouth, tracing sensitive gums, caressing the underside of Ed's tongue with his own. The little, helpless sounds the younger man made, the encouraging feel of Ed's hands moving almost frantically across his sides...

...touchtastesmell...

With a groan, Roy pulled away for breath...and was almost puzzled for a moment as to how he had ended up pressing Ed against the wall. Ed's eyes were open only a slit, his features a study in wanton arousal. It was so unexpected...and so satisfying. He had done that, he had caused the shallow breathing, the flushed skin... Roy nuzzled into the base of Ed's neck, tasting sweat and a hint of metal.

Ed reached up clumsily, pressing Roy back against his neck as Roy started to move away. "Like that....don't stop."

Roy bit, worrying at a bit of flesh, sucking.

"Ah...like that too." Ed's voice shook.

Roy exhaled heavily, dragging one hand down Ed's chest. "Maybe we should move out of the hall?"

"And give you time to change your mind? Hell no." Ed grumbled, trying to sound firm, but handily defeated by the fact he was clinging, rather desperately, to Roy's shirt.

"I won't." Roy was rather startled to realize the thought hadn't crossed his mind. Somewhere along the way he had recognized Ed wasn't going to go away, wasn't going to give up. It just wasn't in his nature. About that same time, he stopped considering the admittedly short alchemist as a child, as something to be protected.

It was against every social regulation, it was a decidedly Bad Idea from the standpoint of his career, but standing there in his hall, Ed pressed tight against him, Roy couldn't find the will to care.
