The Modern Myth

I fly so high and experience the world from a different height.
Then it all comes crashing down and I fall.
It all comes at me at once and I can't stop it.
I continually crash and burn in a downfall.

Reality is the razor slicing my dreams into shreds.
My dream world protects me from all pain,
And keeps me numb from it all,
Like the white train of cocaine.

Nothing can ever touch me with my force field.
And it saves me from living a life so mundane.
With my fantasy of celebrities and magic,
I fly higher than any plane.

Then the brick wall approaches and,
Everything I had drops away,
And I'm left flying a million miles per hour,
And I'm left to become the car crash cliché.

I hit the wall of reality and break everything.
Every bone in my body is crushed.
As I tumble down to the real world,
All the false feelings are hushed.

And I'm left all by myself.
To be utterly alone.
I try to think of the better times,
And how high I've flown.
