Rachel confesses something to her parents
I woke up the next morning in my actual bed.
I felt a prick of sadness, but joy at the same time.
“Are you planning on getting up this morning?” My Dad asked softly as he poked his head in my bedroom.
I groaned and pulled the covers fully over my head.
“Come on, up… Mum made pancakes.” Dad chuckled, walking out of the room.
I sat at the table ten minutes later.
Mum and Dad both insisted we were all to eat breakfast together at the table. I thought it was a lame excuse to make it up to us…
I was still pissed off at what was said and done the week before, but I didn’t see the point of letting it get in my way.
“What the hell happened to your hair Rachel?” Matt teased.
Matt seemed to be happier since I had come home, even though we despised each other at times, we still love each other.
I groaned and took another spoonful of fruit loops, seeing I didn’t really want pancakes this morning.
We all sat at the table, talking like a normal family should.
Dad and Mum got up to go get something as I leant into towards Matt.
“I’m thinking of telling Mum and Dad…” I whispered.
“Telling them about what?” Matt whispered back harshly.
“About me and Gerard.” I whispered.
“You haven’t told them yet?!” Matt hissed.
“Look, if anything goes wrong… Can you please just promise to back me up?” I sighed.
“I promise. But if it turns wrong after that, you’re on your own…” Matt said quietly, taking another huge bite of his pancake.
I laughed before taking another spoonful of fruit loops.
Mum and Dad came back and sat down.
I looked over at Matt, who gave me a ‘just do it’ look.
“So ah, I have something to tell you…” I sighed.
“What might that be?” Dad asked cheerfully.
Here goes nothing.
“Umm… I ah, have a boyfriend…” I stuttered.
Ok, yes, so I chickened out. But I’m going to tell them, just not right, right now.
“Oh really?…” Mum asked, surprised.
“What’s his name?” Dad asked.
Ok, HERE, goes nothing…
“Gerard.” I said quietly.
“Gerard?” Mum asked.
“Gerard? Gerard Way?” Dad asked.
I nodded slowly, looking down at my bowl.
Fruit loops had never looked so good. That, or I was too scared to look up.
Come to think of it, I actually had no idea why I was scared. Was there even a reason to be scared?
“How long has this been going on for?” Dad asked.
“About two and a half months now…” I answered quietly.
“Two… Two and a half months?…” Dad said.
I could tell he was trying his best to stay calm.
“Why didn’t you tell us earlier?” Dad asked.
“I, I don’t know…” I said softly.
“How far have you gone with him?” Dad asked.
“What?!” I asked loudly, looking up.
“JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!” Dad roared.
“We’ve had sex…” I whispered.
“What?” Dad asked, shocked.
“You had sex without my permission?” Dad asked slowly.
Ah crap, I could feel another argument coming on…
“Since when did I need your permission?” I asked smartly.
“You’re sixteen Rachel! You’re way too young to be putting yourself out there!” Dad yelled.
“You make out I’m some kind of slut!” I screamed.
“Well tell me Rachel, how many times have you done it with Gerard?” Dad asked smartly.
“I dunno… A few…” I shrugged quietly.
“You, little, slut.” Dad said slowly.
“Excuse me?!” I asked hysterically.
“You heard what I said! You little slut!” Dad screamed.
“Craig!” Mum gasped.
“You stay out of this.” Dad said sternly.
“So, I’m a slut now, just because I’m not a virgin anymore?” I asked, trying my best to keep myself calm.
Dad stared at me angrily.
“I’ll have you know I love Gerard, and he loves me!” I shouted.
Dad continued to stare at me with a disgusted look on his face.
“Whatever. I’m getting ready for school.” I said angrily, scrapping my chair from under the table roughly.
I threw my empty bowl in the sink before I went into my room to grab my clothes before having a shower…
I groaned and threw my bag on the ground.
“Someone having a bad day?” Ray asked sarcastically.
“Oh shut up.” I sighed.
“Yep, someone’s not in a good mood.” Frank nodded.
“Would you expect me to be after I’d just been called a slut by my Dad?!” I asked loudly.
My friends stared back at me with shocked faces.
“No.” Mikey mouthed.
“I’m sorry guys… Like Ray said… Not a good morning.” I sighed, sitting down next to Gerard.
“Everything okay?” Gerard asked me quietly.
“Same as usual.” I whispered.
Gerard put an arm around me and kissed my forehead just as the bell for the start of school went.
“What do we have now Scarlet?” I asked with a hint of groan in my voice.
“Science.” Scarlet answered.
“Science?! You’ve gotta be kidding me?!” I yelled.
“Oh, that’s right… You’re with Kara for that ‘major assignment’ thing aren’t you?” Scarlet smiled.
“Shut it whore!” I screamed, picking up my bag and walking my way to class…
