This story is painfully beautiful. Every time I read it, a lump forms in my throat and tears gather in my eyes. You captured the moment just before the last vestige of hope disappears and Ginji is plunged into total despair so perfectly that it hurts to read this. I badly want for that shiver to be a promise of happier days to come in Autumn. Yet, I can't forget that final thought is of Ginji wondering if he should give up hope. And so I cry for him and for me, as well, who likewise doesn't want to believe that Ban has truly forsaken Ginji. A truly moving story, beautifully written.
