Damn... Dumbledore doesn't know when to quit, does he? I have a horrible feeling that he misrepresented this 'bonding' as merely a counter-measure against future attempts at possession or influence-by-vision rather than a betrothal of sorts.
It is good to see that the scars of war have not just vanished with how Hermione destroyed Harry's letter. I have no doubt that our heroes (and yes, that includes Ron and Ginny - they were in no way mature enough to understand the downside of Dumbles' plan) will continue to live in a world of paranoid fear for many years to come.
I agree that Harry would, if not kept the Hallows around, would have left them in a state where he and only he could obtain them quickly if the need arose. JKR wanted Harry just to embrace normality but it is my feeling that he is Slytherin enough to know that, so long as he is alive, the Hallows must be protected and kept from any ambitious would-be Dark Lord who might wish to supplant him as their master.
