The Acts Of Betrayal

-wicked chuckle- My, Dumbles and Snivellus are not having good days, are they? I loved the entrance and announcements followed by artfully knocking down every sally Dumbles made. The treatment of Snivvy was rather earned, he'd better learn quickly, or Slytherin -will- need a new Head of House and Dumbles a new potion master.

The varied reactions at the feast were fascinating, the cheerful one on Luna's part (that must be some event tree she's tracking) and the less joyful ones on the part of the minor Weaseleys; I think the last two had best be very, very careful as Albus can't protect them nor carry out his promises near as well as they think.

The discussion at the Hufflepuff table was fascinating and I think that "You dug your own grave Mate, all I did was point you out to the undertakers." was an absolutely classic line.

The later discussions 'tween the wives and their friends was quite illuminating. I'll admit, I do wonder who Harry was talking with, or what he was doing, during this time.

Finally, the flashback to Tom Riddle's Hogwarts situation was educational. I suspect we've just seen the tip of the iceberg regarding his side of the story.

You do have to wonder about Albus, since one definition of insanity is "Doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results." You rather get the impression he wants the glory without having to do the really messy work to -really- earn it. Tsk, that's backfired big on him once and it bids fair to do again, here. It will be interesting to see his reaction to Harry & his wives since Harry took a rather different path out of hte situation than Tom did; it also silently rebukes Tom for the path he took and I daresay he'll not appreciate that.

Author's response

Luna hasn't made her abilities public. Who would? I mean having everyone bugging you constantly about what is going to happen? The loonie personae is a mask she uses to defend her privacy.

During the ladies discussion, Harry was checking the various paintings in their rooms for monitoring charms. When he finished he saw the hen party in progress and in a fairly standard display of male courage, got the hell out of range of the gossip, and courageously hid in his room.

There will be more of Tom, and his reaction to Albus and his machinations.

Tom has a sufficiently developed sense of self that any path that Harry takes that Tom did not will be seen (by Tom) as an example of weakness.
