for one, he was an outcast. Harry and Hermione were/are his ONLY friends. Anyone else is a friendly acquaintance. outcasts are either immature idiots or overly mature intellectualss. he is an intellectual.
For another, he is very protective of his cousin. He treats her as the sister he never had, and she treats him like a little brother.
