Sure, saying "I was here crying" might be a bit embarrassing, but she hates getting in trouble more than death, or so she says, so...

Thank you for the comment. To me, it was the fact that Ron & Harry went out of their way just for her. She'd been pretty much ostracized by everyone of her peers at Hogwarts (except Harry who was polite). To let them get in trouble for helping her might have scared them away from being a friend. The logic being, if helping a friend gets me in trouble why would I be their friend?
