The part about the dead dragon is sad, of course, but it serves more than one purpose, right? (at least if I'm reading this right.)
If you wanted to remind your readers that no one is safe, not even the big dragons, well, good job. Death Eaters are everywhere, not just in the UK. sigh
It also helps Charlie and May know each other better and get even closer. Their relationship is growing - and they are too, somehow. Love and trust are making them.
I like the playfulness in the very first scene and in the last one. They are cute together... Anyone ever called you a tease? lol.

Author's response
Anne,
It certainly does serve more than one purpose. No one is safe. No place is safe. And if the Death Eaters and Voldemort are so arrogant and self assured that they will take on an adult dragon on his home territory, then everyone needs to take notice. I guess I should have had a photographer from the Romanian bureau of the Daily Prophet on hand to report the story.
It also serves the purpose to remind Charlie, Mayumi, and the rest of the Wardens that they aren't there to vacation; they have a job to do with real responsibilities.
I'm glad you enjoyed the more light hearted parts too!
Thanks Anne!
