All the little details of this come together so nicely to make a very interesting story. Harry's reaction was perfect and probably one of the few that could gain a bit of respect from a man like Scorpion seems.
I am slightly annoyed that you brought JK's little bombshell into this though. I don't mind character's being gay but Dumbles being gay brings even more sinister possible reasons for his actions. Was it just Snape's feelings for Lily that convinced Dumbles. With his relationship with Grindewald and then his desire to redeem him and the same desire to redeem Riddle, Snape and Malfoy. The whole thing just leads into so many bad places that I just don't want to think about.
Author's response
the only effects the 'bombshell' had on the scene was mentioning them as lovers once, and that Dumbledore had repressed that side of his nature. The rest would have read as it was.
I still wonder why Snape's stalking Lily made Dumbledore think Snape fully reliable, evne if he partially turned out that way.
