Bungle in the Jungle: A Harry Potter Adventure

Very nice chapter again, but I have to say the MILF part was just slightly disturbing. Nice job on the idea of runes syphoning off power, I loved that idea. As far as apparation, much better than 'traditional' fics; I enjoy how your Harry is human and thus makes lots of mistakes as well as his niavetity (sp?). A very believable character and chapter. Keep up the good work.
Just one little question: Can the glasses just see runes or do they see all magic? If it's the latter, wouldn't that be a problem in a really heavily warded and guarded place? I mean, compare it to looking into a camp surrounded by a bunch of floodlights...If all you can see is the individual runes, it wouldn't be so bad, just like glowing writing everywhere, but magic in general would nullify the practical use when you needed it most (high density magic areas from the traps and wards). Hopefully this makes sense and you can answer my question.

Author's response

Technically they see all magic, which is why Bill says to never turn it on during a duel. Runic fields are weaker than a direct spell which is a more concentrated form of magic. I hope that makes sense. In areas of heavy wards it can be a liability, and has to be used sparingly without causing a headache. Which is why cursebreakers moving in tombs go very slow and doublecheck their work - at least the ones that are still alive do. :)
