When Vernon Didn't Miss

Well....still not exactly what I would call a just solution. What is money as compensation in the face of the ending of the Potter line potentially?

It seems to me, that when things start happening here for the better, they will need to happen fast and hard.

I'm still baffled as to why they don't take each and every student aside when coming back from a break and question them about their allegiances...its not like civil liberties are that protected of a commodity in the wizarding world after all.

Gender bias is indeed a rational explanation for why it doesn't seemingly work for women. But, despite all of their blathering, the advances in scientific reasoning since the last time the brotherhood ventured out into the muggle world would seemingly offer great hope for Hermione.

Author's response

It's an early Germanic custom, very popular in Anglo-Saxon times -- blood money in lieu of feuds
