Oh gods, that's one stupid old man.
I thoroughly love your slow-boil style here. Things are coming to a head, but not very quickly. Now, I'd love to see Harry send a letter to Ol' Fumbles, saying that if he tries to negotiate for him without his expressed consent, Harry would be seen no more. That'd send the old coot up the wall, right?
