Just a quick note to say I really enjoy this approach. The plot is developing well; it seems you are not going for a stereotypical creepy Dumbles, but actually fleshing him out for both good and ill. I don't mind that, really. It's refreshing. I just hope you don't weaken and redeem the Weasley offenders and Hermione. Although I am usually an H/Hr fan, the set up you gave is too delicious to forgive her, Ron is a useless git no matter how he is painted, and GW never got over TBWLphilia.
I am also pickled tink with your Luna. I hope they end up together. All in all, a very enjoyable read so far, so much so that I am skipping my planned trip to the range with my new .45. (You don't know me, but that is high praise, indeed!)
