Battered Hearts

Norman:

SOB Ron. He accepted that he's dead and wants to stay that way. He's at peace and he wants Hermione to have peace too, especially since he knows she's in good hands with his best mate, Harry. He'll be free when Farkas dies, so he's happy to while away the time at his favorite pastime--chess.

Percy the Prat finally put his foot in it once and for all and it cost him...dearly. It never ceases to amaze me how there are people in this world who are not happy unless they're making someone else miserable or stirring up a ruckus. That's Percy.

I wondered if the elder Weasleys would step in and put a stop to this nonsense and I wasn't disappointed. Go Arthur!

You've made me cry with this chapter and I'm not just saying that. The tears started with Ron, then flowed some more at the graves at Shell Cottage and just kept flowing through the wedding scene. After all the hell in their lives, Harry and Hermione can finally finish healing and have peace once again.

Thanks so much to you and GuitarGurl for creating this story and bringing it home. Well done. I'm still blubbering.

Author's response

Thank you, Sheila, for taking the time to read and then write such a comprehensive review.
While Ron is not my favorite character, and totally wrong for Hermione, I don’t see him as a bad guy. With that in mind, it was gratifying to give him a ‘hero’ moment.

As far as Percy the Prat goes, in my experience, hubris is its own punishment – besides it is fun to bring the unctuous down a peg or three, isn’t it?

Arthur strikes me as an easy going kind of guy, slow to anger, but if you do piss him off, stand back!

I’m glad you were moved by different scenes in the story; there is no better return for a writer than an emotional response.

Hopefully the next story will be as satisfying.
Wish me (us) luck!
