pi: 'someone' took the elder wand from Dumbles, giving him one made from pussywillow and flobber worm instead. Until that was pointed out, however, the pussywillow wand looked like the elder wand.
In the next chapter, Harry makes his first big mistake, but he won't be the one who pays for it (although that in bad dreams. . . .), and Dumbledore demands 'his' wand back.
