A good 'slice-of-life" update showing Harry's first year at the Academy. I, too, rather suspect there's likely more to that Jackalope comment than Luna's "usual" creatures. If "the fanged one" was responsible for the wards, I could see the interpretations here but if "the fanged one" was just for getting inside the wards, I can think of another approach that might work if there's outside access to a certain area.
I reckon you've got Harry's athletic skills pinned well and he did play to his strengths. 'Twill be most interesting to see how he does in further competitions.
