An interesting set of observations in this chapter. The possibility that magical ability may be suprisingly common is something that is easily extrapolatable from both the Trek and HP canon and I think that you used this flexibility very well here. It is also the case that directed magic/esper power may not be as interesting and attractive now as it once was.

I'm waiting for someone to point out the similarity between the Statue of Secrecy and the Prime Directive. I wonder how much these rules will be bent in the years to come.

Finding a way to find and destroy the Horacruxes is going to be an interesting side-story. I still think that one day, Harry is going to meet a telepath who is going to tell him about the other thing in his head (BTW - I suspect that the Last Horacrux is how Voldemort has some tiny power left). However, for now, I'm looking forward to the stories of the first Wizard and Witch in Starfleet.
