Alorkin,

Enjoying this fic very much. Am sorry to hear that your sis is ill. You take as much time as you want to get her back to berating you over your shoulder as you struggle with your prose. There are plenty of fics out there to re-read/discover while we all await more of your great storytelling.

Last year my wife was in the hospital for a couple of months near the end of the year except for a 3 week reprieve. I dropped everything to be with her daily - sometimes staying until 3am. Among other things to take her mind from what she was going through was reading to her some of the fics of you great authors. Sadly, she lost her fight against the cancer that laid her down.

When she got calls from our friends she would beg them to talk to me to get me to get more sleep that I was getting due to my vigils for her. She would also tell them how grateful she was of me for trying to ease her pains. I do not begrudge the time I spent with her. I just wish we had more time together.

Wishing for a speedy & healthy recovery of your sister. I will keep you all in my thoughts.

Author's response

First off, I thank you for your thoughts, and have sent a prayer to the four winds for your wife's spirit. My wife died in a flash. In many ways, I was fortunate. Though the pain lingers (Even after 14 years) I have my daughter to remind me that not everything is lost.

I'm glad you see the time you spent with her as time well spent. Though she lost her battle, she died knowing she was loved.

My sister is still in ICU, but the doctors are optimistic. She's on a trach tube instead of the ventilator, awake and aware, and is trying to bully them into giving her orange juice.
