PRECIOUSSSSS! -Snicker!- I hadn't planned on it, but that does sound fun.
Seriously, though, Voldy is losing touch with what passes for reality. He will become more and more erratic as time goes on. He will also become more violent, though he will spend more time 'disciplining' those he imagine aren't as loyal as he wants.
While Professor Babbling is an idiot, the cultural ignorance of the wizarding world is also responsible for the misinterpretation.
