Review for The Howling

The Howling

(#) Cateagle 2010-11-10

Well, I have to admit that I do feel sorry for Harry, he's just picked up another major load to shoulder, fortuneately he's also gained strength and a partner to help carry that load. I rather suspect that Molly's going to need to let go of her early-learned prejudices and learn to deal with what is, not what she'd like; it wouldn't hurt, either, for her to recognize that Ginny's just as hot-blooded and passionate as she was as a teenager (or is that what she's afraid of?). If she doesn't do this, both Ginny & Harry have made their choice and it's each other, not her; she runs the risk of losing both of them completely if she keeps this nonsense up.

I found the changes in Harry and Ginny interesting and I have to wonder exactly what caused them. I do wonder that no one has returned to where it happened to see if there was something peculiar or special in that environment. As I've said before, where it happened gives the feel of a magically-special site and I could see that affecting what happened there (perhaps one or more ley lines feeding extra energy into the transformation and more happening than "usual"?). In any case, it looks like Harry & Ginny are well-suited to each other and I doubt she's going to complain about his 'equipment fit".

'Twill be quite interesting to see what can be done to help them cope with this new variation on the lycanthropic virus; especially if they are the only two in the world with it. I do agree that finding out about this new variation would definitely stir Tom to try and abduct at least one of them for study; dealing with these attempts, and the consequences if one of them was successful (taking Ginny while leaving Harry behind could lead to a very angry lycan; not a good thing - wonder if that might end up being "the power he knows not"?).

It's an interesting and most enjoyable story and I look forward to seeing further chapters.

Author's response

Is it me or does all of my reviewers have psychic abilities? That thing about pureblood ideals will be touched upon in the next chapter. We'll just have to see if Molly will be with them at the end or if she drives them away.

Hm, the spot where it happened. You'll just have to read more about it. I hope to update soon but then that's what I said about the last chapter and my finals are only five weeks away. Thanks for the review.

PS about the chapter count, it's accurate. About a couple of years ago, a reader complained that the system would always make prologue Chapter One regardless of what I put into the body of the page so by electronic count, the chapters were off by one. So to compensate for it, Chapter One is always the prologue if there is one. I guess you can say the title of Chapter one is 'Prologue'. Weird isn't it?
