Fyi, a cutting torch runs about 50% hotter than the hottest blast furnace. Up to 8000 degrees. A plasma arc cutter runs up to 50000 degrees.
Electron or laser beam cutters are described as being the hottest cutters possible short of explosives.
I do know NASA was experimenting with a cutter in the 60's and 70's that worked at 250,000 degrees.
I wouldn't expect wizards or an eleven year old to know about these, however.
Although I wasn't a lot older when I learned some of it, so Hermione might. but could easily be excused for missing it. Being on another continent and not a space enthusiast.
