Hey there,
Okay, the Jefferies Tubes were named after Matt Jefferies, who designed the Enterprise from TOS, as well as the shuttlecraft and the Klingon Cruiser, and what was funny was that the model company AMT helped fund that model, as they wanted a ship for the main bad guys, since to that point in time they'd only been lights on the view-screen. What's always been interesting to me was the role Wah-Chang played in the series, as he designed a lot of hero instruments, including the Romulan ship. Here's something interesting: did you ever have a chance to see the boots Kirk wears, in the first season, they have laces in the front, especially in the action scenes, and Pike from the pilot had a buckle on the side of his boots.
Sorry 'bout that LOL, now, actually I could see myself writing that cross, as I really like Susan and would be fascinating to explore the character of the lady that raised her, just unsure what to do, could go one way, where Harry meets her in the past, stays with her and becomes Susan's uncle in the present, someone who is much less willing to take Dumbledore at this word, or, they meet, and after a romance, Harry gets pulle back to the present, where he then meets up with an Amy who's gotten..."OMG you got old honey?!" Of course, the hexing will start right after that LOL.
Strangely enough, it sure seems like albus had no damn common sense in the canon, as the first thing he does is basically show Tom how destructive magic can be, which to his little twisted brain must have made things even more appealing, though of course, that leaves the huge plot hole imo, of what was Albus doing the whole time Tom and his DE's were running around before the Prophecy came out, after all, it was at least 10? years before that happened, right?
Cya.
PS, sorry, Jefferies also re-built the vintage WACO? plane iirc, and flew it himself across the country, I remember someone mentioning that on one of the Trek Boards I hang out on.
Author's response
Hey again, Wonderbee!
You forgot the contribution he made to society. Matt Jeffries is considered to eb te father of ergonomics. In WWII, he was a waist gunner on several types of Bombers. BEing a tall man, he had to duck and squeeze to get aroundthe many obsticals inside each one. Unfortunately when the army installed upgrades or modifications, they just bolted them in whereever they would go.
When Roddenberry asked him to design the bridge, he decided the command center needed to be a functional office. That's why he built a two tier system. Kirk's chair is raised so he can see over the helm, and swivels so he can see every station. the upper level stations can see every other station on the bridge. The only ones not so empowered were Checkov and Sulu, but they were supposed to keep their eyes front anyway.
Wah-Chang designed many f the props, but more, he truned the designs into functional heroes. As Scott ssid in 'Glacati Whirlpool' :Aye, the engineers were brilliant, but I'd like to meet the contractors. They're the one's who made the thing work!"
Boots: Yeah, I noticed that too. When Kirk fought the gorn, he waxs wearing issue combat boots, but he's also worn 'Nasty Feet' Motorcycle boots (the oens with the buckles) and polo boots. the female crew wore polo boots exclusively.)
When Hunter played Pike he wore his own boots. He used to ride a Harley.
~"OMG you got old honey?!"~
You need to get started on that story! You should know, though, not even Harry is dumb enough to tempt fate like that.
Susan is a badly underused character. While Rowling gave us more than fifty student names, she only played with around ten or so. Later, in the last two piles of typing, she introduced not less than three Mary-Sues, not including Ginny.
In my not so humble opinion, Amelia's, was one of the most useless deaths in the series. There was no need for either her, Fred Tonks or Remus to die. What's more, Rowling completely gaffed off the effect her murder would have on Susan.
Dumbledore: Again, we are of a mind. Dumbledore's actions lead one to only two possible conclusions. 1: He is the hidden dark lord who wants both the savior and his more visible enemy to wipe each other out so he can take over (how I usually write him) or 2: His mind has gone bye-bye. His plots make Rube Goldberg look like an aerospace engineer. Either way, I wouldn't have him in charge of a school, or a government, for that matter.
And yes, Jeffries did restore and fly a WACO YOC plane. It now lives at the Virginia Aviation Museum in Richmond.
OK, now describe the rules of Fizbin.
(Just kidding!)
