Jeeze, even if Daphne is more on the side of the 'good guys', she's still a bloody Slytherin, isn't she? Doing it for personal ambition - to get in on the 'ground floor'. Coldly killing Pansy. Brrrr. Was that necessary, to do that herself? Just personal revenge?
You're right; Flitwick and McGonagall do look bad. You have me considering their canon selves in a new light. They really didn't do a darn thing to help the students, did they?
'Mostly platonic'? Still no romance here, I'm just sayin'. :)

RE: Daphne -- sometimes the leader has to lead by doing her own dirty work.
I don't think canon McG or Flitwick did anyting overtly wrong -- but lots of sins of omission!
