Nice dynamic between Aragorn and Faramir here, with Aragorn's strong resemblance to Denethor making Faramir nervous, since Aragorn is stepping into Denethor's shoes as Lord of Gondor.
Aragorn thinks back on having to leave Gondor because Denethor was about to 'out' him as a claimant to the Kingship. I doubt very much that Denethor would have publiclly exposed Aragorn, and risked civil war, or at the very least a swell of support for the popular Captain Thorongil as King of Gondor.
"Aragorn was starting to get quite light- headed from watching all this bobbing around." -- best line in the chapter! Poor Faramir has to learn that Aragorn is a man of fundamentally simple habits, and not Ar-Pharazon of Numenor.
