Perfectly Imperfect

"God, he needs a slap." This is perhaps the most honest thing I've ever heard. Anyway, I really liked this chapter. I liked that it started by explaining what happened. Not only did it tell us how they got that way, but it also revealed how both Pete and Mikey feel about each other. We already knew that he would never do anything unless he knew Mikey wanted to do it too, but Mikey's got an angel's heart and an angel's face. Pete could've gotten ahead of himself by taking off his shirt in the previous chapter. I didn't think that he'd get ahead of himself because he knows how precious Mikey is, but with this story you have to expect the unexpected, which I believe is a wonderful thing for a story. It keeps the reader on their toes. It didn't seem out of character that they were in a position like that, it just really showed that Mikey was ready to do that, so Pete was ready too. I really liked this scene. It was so beautiful and well written and it clearly displayed what the characters were feeling. Anyway, I also liked the Gerard scene. Sure, Gerard was over reacting and definitely said some things that were unfair, but that scene was so well written and engaging and it made me want to punch him and then grab Mikey and Pete in a hug, which is a great thing because it had so much emotion in it. How could Gerard tell Pete about Mikey's suicidal behavior? He is the reason why Mikey doesn't trust him as much. Mikey is the kinda person that comes to you when he's ready, and of course he wasn't ready to tell Pete. Gerard is the reason why he and Mikey aren't as close as they used to be. Though Gerard is a jerk in this (and a few other things) I can't deny the fact that he works really well like that in this story. It really adds a lot of emotion to the story. Mikey is so fragile and sweet and Pete is the perfect match for him, though he's a bit flirty, and Gerard doesn't want to believe that someone can like Mikey without wanting to hurt him. He doesn't want to listen and he's really stubborn, but it just works so well here. And Gerard was just over reacting when he punched Pete, but that's the kind of person he is. And it'll really change Mikey's view of him, so I think that was a really good thing to add in the story. I also liked what Pete said to Frank when he was about to leave. That was a really clever thing to say and it's true. Frank has no idea what's going on, but there's obviously something wrong when someone he doesn't even know says something to him like that. Well, I really liked this chapter. It's so full of emotion and beautiful and it's really well written. You can never guess what's going to happen because this story is so unpredictable. It really, truly amazes me that someone can write this well.

Author's response

Thank you very much; I'm soooo pleased that you liked this chapter!
I started it by explaining because I didn't want Pete to come across as the sort of person to take advantage of Mikey, rather as the sort of person that could never hurt Mikey and would only do something with Mikey if Mikey wanted it. So I'm glad that came across.
I'm relieved that it didn't seem out of character, that was my big worry with this. You've interprited that scene perfectly; it was meant to show how much Mikey trust and loves him, which means that Pete now can what Mikey is ready for because he is ready for it. If that makes any sort of sense.
I'm pleased that you liked the Gerard bit; it's very nice of you to say that it's well-written!
Gerard really shouldn't have exposed Mikey's suicidal behaviour in such a cruel way, it really just wasn't fair on Mikey and you're completely right about Gerard being the reason for Mikey's lack of trust in him. I'm really relieved that you think Gerard The Jerk works for this story, I was worried that it seemed... I dunno; crappy? I'm also relieved thant you think the punch seems like the sort of thing that he'd do in this story.
Thank you so very, excruitiatingly much; that last part of review really is extemely touching and absolutely lovely. Thank you for reviewing pretty much everything that I write; it really means everything to me!
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely, detailed review! :)
