Precious Things Smash

This was lovely! I thought this was very well done. Of course the fact that Mikey got hurt was a major part of the story, and was the reason why they were in the situation in the first place, but this was focused more on the sweet part of that. The part where they were both able to show their love for each other, even when Mikey was hurt. The part where Mikey's cries of pain were enough to make Gabe wish it was himself instead of Mikey to be the one hurt. He obviously loves Mikey so much. When he was telling him it'd all be okay, it almost seemed as if he was not only saying it to reassure Mikey, but  to reassure himself too. It seems like, even though he didn't feel Mikey's physical pain, he was hurt just as bad because he saw how hurt Mikey was. Gabe even kept singing to Mikey with the intent of being the last thing that gave Mikey hope before he could be taken away. All of Gabe's actions wouldn't mean as much if Mikey didn't feel the same way. The fact that Mikey could rely on Gabe's love after such an accident shows that Mikey loves Gabe just as much as Gabe loves Mikey. This was beautiful. It was truly sweet and absolutely heartfelt. I hope my review made some kind of sense!  Anyway, this was simply amazing!!!

Author's response

Thank you very much! Mikey being hurt was, as you rightly said, the main event in this but the sweet side of it all (i.e. Gabe's love and care) was meant to be the central focus, so I'm glad that came through to you. It's good to know that Gabe's love is obvious and clear, like him wishing that he was the hurt one. I think he was saying that to reassure himself too. Gabe's singing was definitely his way of trying to give Mikey hope and he was extremely determined to do that because he felt like it's the least he owed Mikey, especially as he loves him. I agree with you about Mikey's reliance on Gabe in such a dark time shows how their love works both ways.

Thank you very, very much for the awesome review! :D
