Hmmm.... A good explanation for the bond. I like what you did so far. I find Snape to be interesting in this chapter. He acknowledges that Harry is Lily's son, and then promptly and deliberately turns any feelings he may have on the matter into hatred. It's amazing how the human mind can rationalize nearly anything.

Thanks! I agonized over it for days trying to get it just right. =)
As for Snape, he's a pretty interesting and complex character. Even in canon, he's acknowledged that Harry is Lily's son, yet treats him despicably. Fact is, he's a petty man, and I'm pretty sure only Alan Rickman's performance is what makes so many people try to redeem him.
My problem is, however, the road to redemption is too short in other stories. Snape here has to work for it, and he needs to get through his inner demons. Meaning, he needs to really get over his hatred of James Potter before he can get to properly protect Harry Potter--for Lily.
