MY BUNNY HUTCH

Thank you. I'm glad that I am not the only one who thinks that just because Snape worked to destroy Voldemort doesn't make him a good person. Sure he wanted to destroy him but that was more for revenge than to save everyone. He hated the fact that the only one who could is Harry and made his life hell for looking like James. Not to mention everyone else just because he could, which is standard bad guy thinking. This fic is in line with his character because he has NOT yet grown attached to Dumbledore to not consider killing him. He is still at this point a death eater and only changed sides to protect Lily. With Lily gone he has no more need to stay with Dumbledore's group AND he gets to kill James' son. Win win for him.

Author's response

Hey Slayersfan. (My daughter likes Slayers too!)

You’re quite welcome. I don’t think Snape was truly interested in eliminating Voldemort in except as how it could affect him personally. And he was by no means a good person. He was a bully, a schoolyard thug, and a punk. Harry never knew his father, in part because of Snape. And as you said, he bullied Harry simply because he could. Dumbledore asserts Snape’s reason for acting the way he does is because he is a spy. I say Bullshit. A spy is supposed to remain unobtrusive, gather information and report. Snape is anything but. IMO, his only motivation for trying to ‘protect’ Lily is that he wanted her as a sex slave, and was happily willing to see her husband and baby murdered for it. At the risk of sounding sexist, I cannot understand Rowling’s representation of ‘love’. In both Harry’s case and Snape’s, her idea of ‘love’ is more in line with that of a spoilt six year old with uncontrolled hormones.

In essence, what I did was boil his canon personality down to the basics.

I’m glad you enjoyed the story.
